I don’t think Jay Z was solely hating on Auto-Tune. He was talking about the lack of autonomous creation of records by rappers who just hop on whatever trend they see to be hot. This is a siren to rappers to start being creative again. To start making art again. Rappers who hate on this (and I use the word “rapper” very liberally in regards to Webstar) are missing the point.

Jay Z does the very mild “DOA” and he’s doing us all a favor. Everyone waits for Jay to stamp things. Jay knows he has folks in his camp that USE AUTOTUNE! Why did he diss these dudes, but not try to say their names? If you’re a sensible fan, you don’t fuck with autotune. It’s wack all by itself. Unlike these groupie ass Jay stans, I could see that without him saying it.
