So far, one of the highlights of my career was penning Boosie’s 2007 feature in XXL’s inaugural Freshman 10 issue. Technically, it was it my first cover story. At the time, he was gaining national attention for his verse on the “Wipe Down (Remix)”. A year later on the street cut, “Don’t I Act A Donkey” he quipped: “I’m bout my mill muthafucka, XXL cover/ But I stand out from everybody though and everybody know”. Here, Boosie reflects on his appearance.

  1. Mr. Carrington says:

The only artist one there that is great, and has risen to be a true leader and produce classic music is Lupe Fiasco.

Now I look at this cover and be like WTF was Lupe on there with these scrubs.

    Fail

  2. kit walker says:

xxl managed to pick just 1 Lupe Fiasco, all the rest are bums and havn’t done anything and didn’t even amount to anything resembling a career

  3. Stop the Hate says:

Come on wit all thae hate the only artist that really ahvent made moves on here is Papoose & Gorilla Zoe. Even though I have my personal opinion about some of them good or bad most of them have kept a solid buzz

  4. PJ says:

are cool.. but I agree, the only dude on here that comes close to meeting the ‘leaders of the new school’ criteria is Lupe. Everybody else here ranges from rappers with some promise to flat out garbage.

Class of 2007 had a low graduation rate

  6. Sunday HH Times says:

Joell Ortiz (Dropped from The Math, put out a banger with Koch, than groups with the fellow below and the Internet Demon Buddens and the dude from Detroit, skills for days, needs to do a mix tape on Pun beats, EHHH)

Crooked I (Koch, I mean E1 let him do him with other lyrical over eaters)

Papoose (Wow, this guy, love em, never was a fan, but love em to death, but come on, he did get 1.5M, married Remy, snuck a blade in Rikers, got the warden in trouble, got dropped and his CEO got the disease LL had on Walk Like A Panthas first single [$20 link bucks for anybody who guesses that])

Young Dro (has had some hits, got on some remixes and is the next best thing on Grand Hustle, but Tip gone his album should of been out, wastd opportunity)

Lupe Fiasco (people say he dope, lyrically, he dope, but, whatever, Paris-Tokyo)

Saigon (Wow, sucker punched, getting dropped and barely releasing a mix tape, wow, and you had Jay on a cut, wow, don’t forget he jerked in life and on entourage)

Lil Boosie (they love him the South, has got some posse joints and that is about it)

Rich Boy (Pow Low has left the building, or at least, forget that he had someone else in the building with him)

Plies (This guy has had a few hits, can’t sale an album, but can get the ladies in a frenzy, easy-and if someone gets hurt, he’s had some years of nursing school)

Gorilla Zoe (He’s signed to Bad Boy, never thought [I] would say this, but that’s about enough)

  7. Seth Van Steenbergen says:
