Jay-Z Says He Doesn’t Listen To Vol.1

In an interview with Myspace UK, Hov speaks on his catalogue and reveals that he doesnt listen to In My Lifetime Vol.1  anymore. He also says that “Streets Is Watching” was the last song he played for B.I.G. before he died. Now, Vol.1 is far from his worst album, *cough* Kingdom Come *coughs*, but I understand where he’s coming from. Though they’re gems like, “Imaginary Player” and “Where I’m From”, overall, the disc lacks continuity.

  1. Jodirt says:

I actually think its one of his best albums but he prob should of changed up like 2 tracks and it would of been on as a whole but it is what it is but def more than enough gems on there plus the streets is watching dvd(classic) made it better

  2. Jodirt says:

Where I’m From > Brooklyn’s Finest (both classic tho)

  3. iCandy says:

This interview is better than Bill Maher.

When Jay is not trying to over-extend his intelligence and just speak from the heart, he sounds better. His weird grammar on Maher (Orator) just sounds like he’s trying to be Michael Eric Dyson.. Lil Wayne went to college, he can drop some multi-syllabic words, Jay should just stick to shit he understands.

Anyway the interview with Maher was also a let down. Completely awkward, irrelevant and at times self-aggrandizing

The entire thing seemed contrived, fake like he wanted to emote more than was actually there.. it’s a coy way of giving something without giving anything… a genetic deficiency only found in black men I think lol

  4. TC says:

Don’t make me start this up again YN. U can text SC all you want lol. I’m stickin’ to the script

  5. N1884 Please says:

VOLUME 3 is his weakest album

  6. Barry Washington says:

I was just listening to Vol. 1 today in my friend’s whip.

I like it. I’ll have to go through the discography for the twentieth time to make my rankings.

  7. LikeJordan45 says:

I want to know what he meant by “Check my rap sheet nigga 3 classics” on Blueprint. If he’s discounting Vol. 1 as a self-proclaimed classic that only leaves Blueprint itself and Reasonable Doubt.

    Over/Under on Jay-Z having 3 Classics?
