So the Internets are abuzz with claims that Kia Shine ghostwrote Drake’s “Best I Ever Had.” Although he does own a portion of one of rap’s biggest hits, it appears to be because he produced the original Young Money joint that inspired it.
Take a listen:
As you can hear in the opening verse, Drake lifted the melody and a few words from Weezy. So Mr. Carter and Kia get a piece of the pie—BMI Awards and all. That’s how the music biz works, kids.
Props: Khrys X
its more like Kia Shine wrote the entire lil wayne and drake song. plus weezy don’t his one shit…
I’m not gonna be a hater about this… I just won’t. Congrats to him.
holly fak lil waynes voice is shit…..
id rather listen to nails on a chalk board then that song
i knew that shit sounded a bit weezy, lol so whos the ghost writer now lol this niga took the whole melody from wayne
Here is my take, if he really did ghost write for Drake, why is he coming out 7 months later saying it? And correct me if I’m wrong but isnt that what artist really do on mixtapes is switching up words and flows of other artist to make their own stuff.
I bet you don’t believe this statement now lol
word this shit seems a bit shady, like this niga threattened to say something about ghostwriting for them or sumpin…if we do a song and its never released on a major level how do you own the lyrics…its like if a producer does a beat tape and 2 artists do songs on the beat but dont release them then a third artist uses the beat on his album. the 2 original artists cant claim ownership of the new song right but according to this situation with kia shine this would meain the producer owns all 3 songs. thats wack. i sense some pr moves… i bet the knee shit is bs also, and then you have the very unique “deal” with cash money now having a role all of a sudden and then this shit
well – drakes cd was/is a mixtape so it makes sense..I think we forget that and think it was a single because the radio spins and hype it received.
what are you talking about shorty…once the shit hits stores theres paperwork involved because there will be $$ made off of it so theres credits yadda yadda. Do you not know that some of so far gone has been released as an ep this week. i dont care how he came up with the song he could have stole the lyrics what i was trying to say is how does kia shine getted paid if his track with wayne was never released on anything but a mixtape. that all
Nigga you do not get 25% of all profits from making a song that “inspired” another song. That’s total bullshit Kia wrote a good amount of “Best I Ever Had” to get 25% and that’s why he got an award for it and he obviously went threw legal paperwork to get credited and paid for that. So saying he got awarded for that Wayne song Drake got “inspired” by is total bullshit, that is not how shit works.
