One of my former students, Brendan Frederick runs a quality blog called Uggh… Nice Watch. Too bad he has a hard time keepin’ it updated since he’s a lil busy kickin’ ass as the Deputy Editor of Complex Media. Well instead of trick and treatin’ this past weekend, he brought his site back with a few self-made mixtapes. Of most interest to the RR audience, The Salaam Remi Collection highlights the work from one of hip-hop’s most underrated trackmasters. You don’t know him? Act like you do. Link here. Disrespectful views at Tha Kang, T.I.? Nah, Ms. Banks you're out of line. Yeah Harris' Aussie ain't that dope but neither are you. I just saw you at Coachella and I wasn't impressed. You got the look, the swag, the tough talk but where are the tunes? "212" is alright but that's where it stops. According to Jay-Z's old board rules: You have no right to diss Tip. Look in the mirror and ask yourself: How many classic albums have you created? Are you on anyone's top 10 MCs list? Do you have any hardware on your walls, ma? Cliff is right. Keep him out of the girlfight. You're heavy in these tweets, but I hope you're finding time to create music that backs up your buzz. Or you'll soon be begone like Kreayshawn. You young ladies today bore me. *Turns up Mia X CD* No Limit forever!
The best things in life are free, but hopping on Hov's press conference stage uninvited is gon cost cha. Whatcha did was wrong! ⎯B.Dot
This dude should really stick to R&B. I really don’t know why Nas worked with him for so long, his beats haven’t been hitting since “Fu-Gee-La”.
^ nigga, gtfoh. have you heard of a lil beat called “made you look”?! you just lost all credibility.
he lost his all credibility for sure, lmao
cuz
yeah MADE YOU LOOK is fiyaaa, even Amy Winehouse as used the same sample, on his first album. remi did it as well for her. ps: all the nas/remi collabos was (very) good ! peace
Incredible producer,,, i cant believe he created so many classic beats
Yeah Salaam did make “Made You Look”, but he has also made alot of garbage ass beats!! If anybody follows Nas catalogue, nobody started talking about Nas poor beat selection until God’s Son came out, and thats when Nas started working with Salaam Remi extensively! He’s good for a banger here and there, but I gotta agree with cthecatalyst though… his R&B joints he has done for Amy Winehouse are bananas, but his hiphop shit is eghhhhhhh!
@SilkcityP
Have you read the production credits on Nas’ last few albums? Because if anything Salaam is the one dude giving him solid beats and crafting fire records
Theif’s Theme (Why is that not on this mixtape btw?)
Made You Look
Get Down
You Can’t Stop Us Now
Talk of New York
Legendary
Testify
Add to that the other beats he did like Joell Ortiz Memories and the guy is actually one of the most underrated producers
