On Monday, Entertainment Weekly crowned Kanye’s The College Dropout as the top album of the decade. Apparently, our post gave Ye a sense of nostalgia. Above, is his response to the accolade.

its a cool choice not sure if its the right one, when are we gonna STOP ranking shit though? It just so happens that the album dropped when hip hop reached its PEAK of popularity. Congrats to Kanye and to Hip Hop but im sure there’s over a million readers of that magazine that beg to differ.

KANYE, that was a classy response. About time you didn’t let ur EGO get in the way and blow up on that. HOWEVER…The Marshall Mathers LP sold over 10 million copies, and as of 8/2009 has sold 19 million units worldwide. Fastest selling rap album…ever. How come you didn’t mention that but you mentioned “The Blueprint” which isn’t even Jay-Z’s best album (Black Album). Get off Gay-Z’s dick Kayne. Remember, “Men Lie, Women Lie, Numbers don’t.” And to the haters: THESE ARE FACTS.

Nice response by Yezzy to the article. Also nice to see him acknowledge Dame Dash. Just seeing Entertainment Weekly talking about hip hop is a good look. Personally I would have put Fif’s debut at the top of the pile based on the fact that to produce and rap takes talent and we saw Yeezy’s talent very early so we kinda guessed that he would only get better and he did. Even after GRODT blew up, no one expected the type of success (musically and otherwise) that Fif has enjoyed.
