  2. Jimbo Slice says:

    If there was a place in NYC that had the kind of energy that baseline had, you’d be pressed to find it. Between what Guru’s grown into in that building, Just has gotten from working in that building, Kanye’s achieved in that building. Hell the records that J’s made in that building. ” Jay-Z, Kanye, Just Blaze, Young Guru, Remi and the whole Rocafella.” I have more on this http://www.reverbnation.com/blastmusiccconcepts

  3. mAd Howz says:

    Can anybody tell me what the beat playing in the background is at the end of this video?

    Also who do you think was the rapper that “was beating everybody down”and had “blood everywhere”?

  4. illaDeuce says:

    damn, I’ve always wanted to actually see or take a walk in baseline. One day.. but damn.

  5. r_eazy says:

    can someone tell me what kind of backpack the interviewer is rocking?

  6. koa29 says:

    YN you may hate on lupe’s internet buzz, but how can you say food & liquor, the cool were not dope albums?

  7. neilS says:

    Yes yes we all agree that YN is WRONG about Lupe. Move on.

    The beat at the end of the video was “Exhibit A” that Just did with Jay Electronica (also used on “Exhibit B” the remix).

    Anyone know where Just is moving to??

  8. Young Sha says:

    YN, Nice blackout rant *thumbs up*

  9. beetlejuice beetlejuice says:

    what rapper is he talking about fighting everyone?

  10. Dashing says:

    On Just Blaze…he’s the best hip hop producer in the game right now. Hopefully the fire continues in 2010 with the new studio and the 2 illect MCs in the game right now. (Em and Jay Elect)

    YN is right and wrong about Lupe.

    Lupe has said some ignorant, arrogant comments in the past. (Peep Fiasocgate or read my blog about what he said about Obama a year ago. http://xenfulmusings.blogspot.com/2008/01/lupe-fiasco-intelligent-lyricist-but.html) It’s somewhat surprising for someone that appears to be an “intellectual” rapper to say the amount of ignorant, ill-informed statements that her has. Ignorance and undeserved bravado are unfortunate staples of the new crop of MCs though so why single him out?

    That said, he has put out some great material. Food and Liquor is a very solid album. The Cool is as well. He’s definitely a gifted lyricist and he pushes the envelope with his creatvity. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

    For the non-believers, peep Lupe Fiaso “Switch” or “Don’t Get It Twisted”

  11. Dan says:

    Fuck YN, you lil District-9 lookin’ muhfucka.

    You ain’t an OG. Talkin’ that shit like you spent a day in the streets. You just an old retard with a cassette collection.

    How does it feel that both The Source AND XXL shitted on your lemon head?

  12. Dan says:

    and for the record, everyone in the industry hits on you. Ask 50.

  13. generalses says:

    YN IS JUST EXPRRESSING HIS DISSAPOINTMENT IN AN ARTIST CAUGHT UP IN A MAJOR LABEL FIASCO .PUNS
    YN DOESNT HATE THE KID. COMMON PEEPS OPEN YOUR 3RD EYE! HE’S STILL PROMOTING HIM GOOD OR BAD!
    LIKE THEY SAY ANY PROMOTION IS GOOD !
    HITLER DID WORSE !
    WITH THAT SAID LUPE DID FGO IN ON OBAMA UNNECESSARILY (“DASHING” GOOD LOOKS ON THAT POST)

  14. koa29 says:

    With all being said, i think lupe is beyond dope, but to be honest… i wasn’t feelin that “im beaming” track. Didn’t like the beat, the lyrics were on point but it just sounded off to me.

    Anyway…whenever Lasers DOES come out… it’ll be the shit and i’ll be bumpin it. I try to seperate an artists personal choices from their music, so regardless if he’s said dumb shit before, the guy still makes quality music. So i could care less. The guy also gets props from me for saying he can’t fuck with Em… cuz no one can.

  15. koa29 says:

    And my bad for turning this post into a Nah Right off-topic discussion….. so back to the original post,

    You can tell Just Blaze has got madd love for his job. Always nice to see something like that. Can’t wait to hear his tracks on R2.. that albums gunna be a classic man. I just can’t wait…

  16. Nathaniel says:

    Michael Eric Dyson went in on Obama (rightfully so) over the summer. AND what Lupe said has as much merit as what Louis Farrakhan said. and came from a similar place of the type of truth most so-called liberals and “post-racial thinkers” deny, or sweep under the rug.

    YN is entitled to his opinion. but if 50 can create conflict all across the board in hip hop and get love from YN, and so can Ye with his non-political, self-indulgent music that he’s been getting deeper and deeper into since his depart from the subject matter and balance of College Dropout (when he actually had something relevant to say)….while at the same time YN screams RACISM RACISM from the hills everytime something pops off…you gotta wonder where his allegiance lies.

    niggas be mad inconsistent. for a nigga that plays sociopolitical, and should understand what leaks do to music, the artists, and the industry as a whole, what he THINKS is all ego and arrogance coming from lupe is really more so his willingness to speak vehemently against piracy.

    the rest of the niggas feel it too, they’ve just submitted to it. they mad too, make no mistake. they just let it defeat them and let the top shelf try to figure it out for them, lu is more proactive. and all this from him matches up perfectly with his willingness to go against the grain artistically, image wise, fashion wise, and everything else.

    pay attention niggas. the surface is where the numb skulls congregate.

  17. Nathaniel says:

    @koa29

    right…back to the subject.

    i still want to know who the rapper was who ran through baseline bustin heads. and i’m waiting on Just to evolve again. growing weary of the loud calamity ass beats he’s been doing lately.

    i want to hear some shit thats like “who is that? …just blaze? word? awww shit i woulda never guessed it!” shit like that. peace to baseline…

    (lupe was present for the recording of the blueprint and the black album) <—-little known fact that bridges both topics, haha

  18. CaniBlog? says:

    *Cosign Dan* Fuck this ol head i never respected YN since back in the XXL days and i thought the man had finally grown up and could make rap radar a respectful blog but naw with that type of mentality not truly understanding the artist you blog about what type of shit is that? im not just talkin bout lupe but if you gonna move with the times to the next decade and stay successful your gonna have to do a lot more than listen to your old ass cassette tapes … Move ON YN STUDY the new classics “food & liquor” “the cool” understand what Lupe has done for the new generation of artist understand that Lupe and Kanye are responsible for all the cudi’s, wale’s, b.o.b’s, etc …. keep it up YN AND your gonna loose a lot fans quicky with your biased ass rants ..

  19. BE says:

    YN always hates on the new artists. I never understand that. I remember previous posts that did the same and it’s a shame. I remember why I stopped reading XXL now. Smh. I agree with CaniBlog? and Nathaniel.

  23. At one point it might be sad, but even the Yankees had to move to a new stadium. It might take sone getting used to. Either way it’s nice to have the success and liquidation to be able to fufill such a goal! Take one foundation item, such as the block of wood at the Apollo, or the brick at Fulton county stadium where Hank Aaron hit the #715 homerun and implement it into the new space. That way you are blessed with the old energy, but the possibilities the future holds. Good luck JustBlaze! I know you’ll make us proud.

  24. yaboitone says:

    I’ve heard this dude B.Dot say “if you don’t like L.L. you don’t need to comment on a hiphop blog.”

    B.Dot If you don’t think Lupe is one of THE GREATEST EVER or EVEN WORSE you “just don’t like him” for some inane poorly explained reason, YOU DON’T NEED TO post, run, advise, or have ANYTHING to do with a hiphop site.

    hold your opinions if you don’t agree. It only let’s me know you shouldn’t be here either.

  25. Dashing says:

    @Nathaniel
    “Michael Eric Dyson went in on Obama (rightfully so) over the summer. AND what Lupe said has as much merit as what Louis Farrakhan said. and came from a similar place of the type of truth most so-called liberals and “post-racial thinkers” deny, or sweep under the rug. ”

    There’s nothing wrong with being critical about Obama and not blindly supporting the man but many of Lupe’s early statements on Obama were simply factually inaccurate and he stated them as fact. Given that he has a fan base people will listen to him, he’d be better served knowing what he’s talking about before he speaks. Whatever point he made gets diminished when he’s got the facts wrong.

  26. Dashing says:

    @yaboitone
    For the “if you don’t like L.L. you don’t need to comment on a hiphop blog.” statement, hopefully what he meant to say was “If you don’t have an understanding for the importance of LL Cool J within hip hop culture, you should inform yourself before making ignorant comments on this hip hop blog.” Not liking LL though has nothing to do with your knowledge on hip hop. As on old head, I can say both of these statements.

    LL Cool J is a hip hop pioneer and one of the most influential rappers of all time.
    LL Cool J’s music in the past 10 years has been subpar and has had little to no influence on hip hop.

  27. cracker.jack says:

    damn finally someone said what’s true about Lupe. He’s just. not. good. as for the Yn haters: yall ninjas funny.

  28. Nathaniel says:

    @Dashing

    “There’s nothing wrong with being critical about Obama and not blindly supporting the man but many of Lupe’s early statements on Obama were simply factually inaccurate and he stated them as fact.”

    ^you’re going to have to be more specific bruh. and farrakhan wasn’t criticizing Obama, he just wasn’t catching obama fever because he knows america and its tyrannical government. foreign and domestic. these are the type of statements i heard lupe making, just not with as much elaboration & detail as farrakhan, but once again, it came from the same place of truth these so called liberal civil rights movement left over ass “leaders” always deny.

    now, what are these “factually inaccurate” statements lupe made as if they were fact? and if he was stating his opinion, then thats just what it was. opinion. but again, what are these “factually inaccurate” statements u speak of?

  29. Real says:

    Look at Busy at work on these Blogs. lol

  30. Dashing says:

    Sorry to be on this Nah-right tangent tip, but to respond…
    @Nathaniel

    Lupe’s statements do speak to Farakkhan’s point. He said “Im not voting for anybody” and “i don’t believe in voting on that level” statements that speak more to the corruption of the system than one person. That’s fine.

    However, he also said some factually inaccurate statements about Obama.

    During the campaign Lupe said Obama supported bombing Iran. He never implied. inferred or said anything remotely close to that. Matter of fact, at that time Obama had voted against calling Iran’s military a terrorist organization, and advocated for diplomatic talks with Iran, agreeing to sit down with Ahamdinejad (a statement that got him into a bit of trouble). Peep game.
