    PS: he definately got his cool from his Grand Mother…hahaha “A-town…O-K-K”

  8. B. Digital says:

    Drake did mention in a record that he lived in his mother’s basement.. He sure wasn’t lying!

    But yeah, I don’t care if a person comes from a poor, middle class, or rich background, at the end of the day, just be dope.

  9. lawd says:

    @die fast,(pause) car crash

    Yeah cause lord knows you have to be poor to make music (cause all broke people are musical virtuosos and niggaz who go to jail shiiiiiiiiit they more talented than Michael Jackson and Beethoven combined) and he “bought” himself into Young Money by orchestrating a bidding war where he gets “paid” to sign to a label smh I hope you never listened to anything Alchemist produced cause guess what buddy he’s from Beverly Hills *gasp*

  10. t-dub says:

    i see you drake. middle working class family. well off cuz all that degrassi money maybe. seems like he grew up like a regular kid.

  13. deez says:

    Drake is a good entertainer, whether its acting, rapping, rap acting, or singing. its all fake for our entertainment.

    If you want hardcore/real life stuff listen to someone else.

  14. I really do get sick and tired of people talking about how someone doesn’t represent real or true Hip-Hop because they didn’t go thru struggles. I hate bandwagon, easily brainwashed individuals who clearly don’t read or google – I freaking take google at this point, about the history or development of something before they speak on it, or spew venom. Hip -Hop started out being about block parties and djing and breaking, then evolved into a more varied and diverse genre that dealt with political, social issues. Yes, the struggle was documented heavily, and still is being documented – though you won’t find it on the radio, but also the “PARTY AND BULLSHIT” element big talked about. The “IGNORANT SHIT” Jay talked about.

  15. And as for the ignorance that was spewed in the form of a comment; just because he’s bi-racial does not mean he’s not black. He is black – and white, and that’s ok. And 85-90% of all African Americans running around here are multi-racial. Do the research. Because of slavery, economics, and geography, many of us have branches the reach far beyond the continent of Africa. Let’s elevate. At some point, we have to reach a place where we can embrace ourselves as a people. Only then, do we put ourselves in a position for the world to embrace us and give the respect that is due.

    And with regard to “Struggles”, life is filled with struggles. Sometimes struggles are precipitated / perpetrated by poverty. Sometimes by loss. Sometimes, many times thru ignorance – a lack of education. A young kid, growing up without a father, or mother, or who’s being raised by an older sibling or a grandparent, or who’s in and out of foster care and group homes may not be able to relate to crack ,crack, crack, patron, patron, patron, swag, swag, swag, the white man, whitey, cracker… Maybe they need Em’s honesty, Kanye’s vulnerablity, and now, Drake’s introspection – to the degree that they can learn how to take stock of their realities and decide to dream, or aspire to more or different anyway.

    Drake’s heavy, man. Best I Ever Had – that’s for the radio. Listen to everything. Hate if you must, but don’t sleep.

  16. Sin says:

    That’s what I was thinking bout when I seen him in Trey songz wonder woman video.
    I ain’t knw he was gon do all this

  17. KAE Hock says:

    First off Drake’s Music is official. This goes without saying. The kid is nice. It doesnt matter what background he came from. But um…yea….he corny. He is himself tho and for that he gets 100% ….well…95% cuz um…yea….lol

  18. koa29 says:

    @IT’SWHATISAID

    real good comment… (Serious)

  19. Chipped Tooth Condition says:

    I don’t fuck with this niggas music but all you niggas that talk about he didn’t go thru the struggle and all that bullshit. GTFOH. You don’t gotta be in and out of jail or sell crack to be a decent rapper, although it fits into the mainstream stereotype. I mean look at Gucci Mane, nigga is wack as fuck but he fits the coonery image that’s why he’s pushed by his label and he has a big buzz (although he flopped sales-wise).

  20. Sin says:

    Nigga please Gucci built his own buzz. The real secret to success is: practice makes perfect. Especially rappin. The more you do the better u gon be. U think Wayne would be this big if he stayed at that same place.
    Keep recording. Keep spitting. Keep working. If u kool ppl gon fuck wit u. If not then shit..stop.

  21. Sin says:

    Yea gucci built his own buzz with the tapes. The first 2 albums was independent. The SVRD is his major label debut. Get that cake for these Shows. Idk y niggas hate. How u gon hate on that man hustle.

  22. lup says:

    ^ because he’s a piece of shit artist with absolutely no substance that does nothing but perpetuate the coonery image Chipped Tooth spoke about.

    having a ‘hustle’ doesn’t mean shit. gettin money and wearing 3 watches and 5 chains does not equate to substance. i don’t have to respect a damn thing about gucci’s hustle. that nigga is but one of the many parasites spoon fed to the masses and killing real musical artistry. you know, the people with an actual message and soul and heart. the people who rap about real life and real importance, not how heavy heavy heavy they’re fucking fake chains are.
