RR’s ’09 Best Singles: #2 Jay-Z “D.O.A.”

The day the earth stood still was on June 5, 2009. Before the stroke of midnight, millions were tuned in to hear Mr. Cee and Funkmaster Flex premiere Jay-Z’s “D.O.A.” on NY’s Hot 97.  From Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine, fans rejoiced after hearing Hov’s deathblow on top of NO I.D.’s schizophrenic track. Sssh, moment of silence.

Why switch ur name "Cunning Link Quest" ? Diifferent moniker, same hate, Guess thats what u internet geeks do.

Act as if u werent listening to hot 97 that night or ran home to hear that track. As for that "creative writing" line, that was courtesty of Ludacris

  11. My Nig Hussle says:

Empire State of Mind was better IMO

  12. cpmedia81 says:

loved how it killed the oversaturated autotune in the game but the song was corny… jay z is wack

  13. 106 says:

When Jay dropped this song I felt like finally somebody has stepped up and said something bout that gay shit. I never liked Autotune and was getting scared it was gonna be around forever. This started the countdown to BP3. Hip Hop after this dropped changed nobody can front on that and everybody was running to hear this song when it dropped don’t front. RR always post Jay on the site cause Jay running this Rap shit. Haterz gonna hate regardless. This should have been #1 just because it was against everything on the radio and Jay didn’t even release it for the radio. It cleaned alot of faces period.

  14. LO says:

I guess #3 is alright??? I mean this song did trick the nation into thinkin Jigga was gon come hard on this album. Rite?

  15. Luke says:

    robot – krs one and buckshot >>>> jay-z – d.o.a.

  16. roustabout says:

it’s should be No. 1. regardless of everybody’s comments, it’s best song.

  17. yeepppp says:

this song didnt do anyhing everyone still uses gay ass auto tune that shit is like okay every once in a while but fuck it is in every fuckin song

  18. Lover not a Hater says:

….Isn’t it weird how he performed the auto tune heavy (not his verse obviously) “Swagger Like Us” at the grammys less than 6 months before dropping this?? Does he think we all have amnesia? No one else thinks that is a little strange? And what exactly makes using weird Macintosh/Microsoft Sam voice any less kitschy than auto tune? Hayyayyyayyater. Dude is the equivalent of hip hop sting / billy joel.

  19. mac DIESEL says:

THAT SONG MADE ALOT OF NIGGAS IRRELEVANT!!!!! BUHAHAHAHA!!!! SHIT SHOULDA BEEN #1!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!!

  20. Michelle Michelle says:

    this was a great song

  21. M85 says:

This song def made alot of pple irrelevent…it made the biggest statement in hip hop in 09..many people felt the same way.. Personally I feel that empire state was a bigger song but within hip hop it put alot of people on notice and forced to deal wit what ghe song said..that’s shat hip hop is about being original and making statements
