RR’s ’09 Best R&B Albums: #5 Chris Brown “Graffiti”

There’s not a doubt in my mind that if Breezy hadn’t socked Ri-Ri, “I Can Transform Ya” would’ve been one of the hugest records of the past year. I don’t care what you say, that Swizz Beatz stutter-step track knocks and it’s not the only good song to be found here. Ebro’s DJs at NY’s Hot 97 have made it abundantly clear that Chris’ sly Fenty-reference rocker “Famous Girl” should be the next single. I’ve yet to watch the video with Cassie but “Crawl” is a booming ballad. Pardon, “Pass Out” an electro pop flop and check out tracks like the sugar-coated bounce of “Sing Like Me”. Yeah the boy still got talent, he just should have waited before trying to relaunch his career so soon after the infamous incident.

The Media runs too many idiots lives. And only lemmings go with the bs flow. If he appeals to you buy his album… The Moral Police be damned.

Obviously the label pushed it and he has a contract. Why should he have to live by the constraints of others? He’s paying for his crime. He’s apologized umpteen times and is taking the necessary steps to become a better citizen. It’s time to move on with that crap. He loves what he does and wants to get on with his life. He still has many fans.

Even with the bs and shenanigans the industry and brick and mortar are playing…ICTY is platinum and Crawl is on it’s way to gold if not already. The cd should be higher on the list but if he’s in the high top ten, great. Pass Out will do very well in Europe. The cd isn’t over, it’s the little engine that could. With his talent…Chris is here to stay.

Hooooooooooooooooooooold up! Y’all spent the whole year dissing Fuck Boy and now you want to be his Rhea. Come on now…his action scarred his music. They go hand-in-hand. He was not remorseful and should be in jail for what he did, not cleaning Graffiti off the streets of VA. Come on, RR! You guys have been batting .990…let us not misfire and keep your stance on Fuck Up. Don’t be a traitor!

  3. DARKAQUA says:

I BELIEVE “FALLIN DOWN” IS THE BEST NON-DANCE TRACK ON THE CD…THAT BOY SINGING HIS FRUSTATIONS OUT…CLASSIC!

I AGREE HE SHOULD HAVE WAITED TILL THIS YEAR….DID THE PUBLIC SERVICE UPTEEN TIMES AND PLAYED THE “FORGIVE ME” CARD. REALLY SHOWED THE “CHANGED MAN” TO THE MEDIA. PR DIDN’T HANDLE IT TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY. HE REALLY IS A YOUNG KAT, HE REALLY DOESN’T UNDERSTAND HOW HE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED IT OUT AS FAR AS MEDIA IS CONCERNED.

BUT…I DO BELIEVE BREEZY NEEDS TO SHUT UP!! HE’S VERY COCKY AND HIS MOUTH HAS BEEN RECKLESS AS OF LATE. THAT’S GONNA DO ALOT MORE DAMAGE!!! TINA DAVIS…SILENCE YA BOY BEFORE HE COMPLETELY F*CKS UP!!!!

YES, I BOUGHT THE WHOLE CD AND I’LL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE YOUNG BROTHER…HE JUST NEEDS TO GROW UP AND HUMBLE HIMSELF. EXTREME AMOUNTS OF TALENT IS THERE…BOY COULD BE A LEGEND WITH PROPER GROOMING

  4. Nathaniel says:

  5. politicalelite says:

LAME…and you wonder why our society is so fucked up! because you glorify idiots like this..if rihanna was your mother, sister, or cousin, you wouldnt give this kid any play AT ALL! but just because he’s chris brown, he gets a pass on beating her up? fuck whoever wrote this shit

  6. ihateHATERS says:

only listen to this album the other day didnt skip tru thats a good sign.. he done fucked up his career tho

  7. Victoria says:

Excellent album! Best of all time, All time!!!!

  8. t-dub says:

    shoulda waited until releasing album.

  9. goons says:

@politicalelite, rihanna is WHORE..she would never pass for anything close that i would care care for ever….i would rather care for a pig than her…

now graffiti is damn good and you are right about icty..still sitting pretty high on itunes and doing very well overseas…that track wont die soon…

and he should not have waited…he said sorry and if you wanna be stuck in the past deal with it..he has a job to do and he is doing it..BTW, if they werent blocking him he would be doing BETTER and that is fact…

and @darkaqa, you dnt know the shit they are putting him through so why the fuck must he be quiet..so he bows down and suck dick..GTFOH….

  10. Dan says:

His career is far from over- @politicalelite- is Charlie Sheen’s over?, A known drug abuser, porno abuser and woman abuser, let us not forget that he shot actress Kelly Preston
( Mrs. JohnTavolta) in the arm when they were dating. Denise Richards divorced him because of the abuse, Hanes underwear think’s that his latest arrest was serious to cancel his ads, the judge felt like threating your wife drunk or not with a knife is abuse! Yet he was up for a People’s Choice award and is still on his hit tv show, double standard… yes! I have been saying this from day one, Terrence Howard co-host The Soul Train Award show( 2009) and was arrested and charged with domestic violence( his ex-wife) H3ll Don Corneilus the creator of Soul Train, was arrested last year and charged with dv of his wife, receive probations and order to take dv classes( he was 72) I’m not going to name everyone that has been charged with either dv or drug abuse that still has a career but I will say that in 1999, Jay-Z was arrested and charged with stabbing a fellow music producer( google search) in 2001 at the age of 32 he was given 3 years probation for the offense… my point is that ABUSE IS ABUSE… I don’t by far condone it but if these people were allow to continue on with the career’s for the mistake they made… Then why are we still after Chris Brown’s head? He was a 19 year old kid who made a bad choice… he accepted his punishment ad is trying to move forward…. Some say jail… a question, if you stab a person and you’re trying to take that person’s life, should you have been sent to jail, or should you receive probation? Just saying!!!!

  11. Vajra says:

His career is finished…He’s only sold 220,000 Grafitti albums in 1 month, and Christmas sales dropped his album off the main sales chart basically. He only sold 10,000 last week. Just a matter of time before it falls off the Billboard 200.

  12. Breezy says:

    @ Dan ^^^

Screw what everyone else says thats the truth righhht THERE.

  13. Breezy says:

    @ Vajra

Kellz peed on a 16 yr old girl and came back and has gon gold and platnum? anyways he came back and that shit he did was fucked up.

  14. Will says:

shit was wacc and if it was good it wasnt better than Keri Hilson Joint nor was it better than Robin Thickes recent 1 if you put this on here you gotta put Robin and Keri Joint before his just becuz the transform ya song wouldve sold alot dont mean it was good the concept on the song was terrible and the song was terrible outside of the ninja dancing scene and the girl with the fat ass the video is crappy

Whiteny Houston Dropped in 09 and so did R.Kelly and Maxwell aint no way this nigga make it before they make it and Letoya Luccet who actually had a successful single

Dont make sense dude had a dud for a single becuz it wasnt top 10 but it was like at number 25 Blaccballin my ass Niggas and Bitches need to keep it real 1st off nobody aint buying shit especially if dude is premiering his shit on Twitter thats like saying here is my 1st single i giving yall but please dont download it go pay for it the nigga gave the mp3 out over his twitter so you think they going to waste money to buy the song when he gave the download out

shit did what it was suppose to do people acting like they Walmart was the only way to buy his CD and shit like If he wanna blkame somebody blame the record company for not shippin enuff copies to more stores Blacc people just need to get riled up on some bullshit nobody blaccballed or did nothing to homie his album was just wacc

  15. Yeah says:

RR leave the R&B alone, please. The only R&B you know about is the one on MTV. I’m sure Chris Brown’s album is better than Maxwell’s, right? But then again, this is a corporate record industry funded website, so it makes sense your musical taste reflects that.

  16. politicalelite says:

@Goons and @Dan well let him beat the shit out of your sisters, until then shut the fuck up! the shit was just wrong, point blank..period..he spent half the album talking about rihanna, what the fuck is that? that whats wrong with this world today. yall act like that shit is normal, guess what dickheads, ITS NOT nor will it ever be..he wouldnt want another man beating up his mother..

i dont give a flying fuck if it was rihanna, alicia keys, or even beyonce..hitting a woman is wrong, and if your mother never taught u that, SHE DIDNT TEACH YOU SHIT!

  17. Random says:

@politicalelite- Yes we know it’s wrong what he did everyone does but does this 1 mistake he made have to ruin his entire life and career when he’s only 20 years old? Also he is getting help by going to anger management and he admitted he did it right away. That’s a rare thing for someone as famous as him to do because usually famous people will deny it and one of the reasons why this case is so public is because rihanna was the victim. If it was someone else it wouldn’t be this public probably and he wouldn’t of lost as many fans. Also it’s funny you say “if your mother never taught u that, SHE DIDNT TEACH YOU SHIT!” because your mother should teach you to forgive people and give them a second chance no matter what they did unless the person doesn’t change or try to, but chris is trying to but the media and people like you won’t let him because everything he does becomes a story or a headline on there site. So obviously your mother didn’t teach you shit either if she didn’t teach you to forgive others. Also if a guy did beat up my sister i would be pissed off at 1st but if he went to anger management and did as many hours as chris is doing i would forgive him because i know he’s trying to change. And if he hit her after all that then i wouldn’t forgive him because i gave him a second chance and he ruined it. Same goes for chris, if he was to do this again i wouldn’t defend him from people like you i would say he deserves it. But i would still buy his music because he makes some of the best music right now.

  18. Wendy says:

I still say that young man is covering for her ass. If he had really spoken about what happened she would have been arrested and her ass deported. She’s on a working visa she’s not an American. That boy was so in love. I still think that the media isn’t asking her the correct questions about what happened, they’re all just pandering to her ass.

  19. chianne says:

numbers numbers everywhere….all I know is the Exec. Director of Charts at Billboard is saying Chris Brown’s fan base is still there, the energy he generates is unbeatable, and he doesn’t have to worry about his career being over – by no means. Do your thing Breezy. You can stop cowing down with the sorries, since YOU are the one that is getting screwed in the end (and I just know it took two to tango). Be yourself. Beware of consequences, but hey, how much more mud can they throw at ya? Bust it out and live that style – nothing out there as talented as you!
