Word on the curb is that D.C. Go-Go bands TCB and Backyard are boycotting Wale’s “Ice Cream Girl” and “Pretty Girls” respectively. Allegedly, Backyard is upset about being excluded in Wale’s upcoming video. Meanwhile, TCB are supposedly disgruntled about not receiving credit for “Ice Cream Girl”. Earlier, wale turned to his trusty Twitter account to address the madness.

DC home of the haters!! GO-GO copies everything, what they mad at Wale for?
If you not from DC you will never understand why GoGo is upset. These bands play weekend and weekout performing. They never get any recognition and performing radio songs is different than selling them as their own..Its part of the culture to play radio music. What is being said about all this is Wale published an ORIGINAL song by TCB and never gave them proper credits. As I can recall he built his persona off gogo. He got paid doing it and these same bands that lifted him up deserve the credit also. Its not hatin..its called bizness. Because while he jet sets with his R&B chick these same bands are in DC grinding for a city that loves them both. Raheem DeVaughn, J Holiday, Ginuwine and just about any real DC artist, has never had this type of publicity involving any gogo band. Its all about mutual respect. DC is GoGo and GoGo is DC. Gotta pay respect to WHAT made you….Just my insight and opinion

Co-sign i’m from the DMV and that’s the truth and I’ve seen the difference cause I lived outside the city 2 and even NYC (and we all know how NY crowds are) don’t show the amount of hate towards their own that DC does that’s why there will NEVER be a DC movement like the West, Atl, Chi-town, Detroit ect… cause it’s the crabs in the barrel mentality to the fullest why do you think Wale had to run with Mark Ronson before being able to get anywhere? It sure wasn’t cause of the city and even with that bs he still puts DC first and yet cats try everything to discredit the homie smh man the last rapper to put a light on DC was Nonchalant ok so if ya’ll wanna wait 14 more years go right ahead

After all this bullshit Wale talked about puttin his city on and puttin Weensy in the video, the nigga aint do shit….and I gave him the benefit of the doubt just because. I guess Wale is just like anybody else that get hollywood and say “fuck where I’m from”. Thats cool….real niccas in DC really see thru his bullshit. He can’t walk in my hood! Fuck dat dude! He from the burbs anyway. BYB and TCB hood affiliated so seeing somebody like him take gogo and get paid makes us salty fo sho….but do your thang.
