Last night, Wyclef took to Twitter to describe the devastation he witnessed in his homeland.

Yes, a car which he owned prior to the earthquake in Haiti, so that’s already irrelevant. He’s been officially pouring in both his money and money raised into his country since 2005. Stop spewing bullshit, if you don’t want to help then don’t – but stop trying to undermine his work. Are you in Haiti currently? No? Have you considered how much he had to pay to be there picking up dead bodies? This shit isn’t a vacation.

Giving to a fellow person in need isn’t the sole responsibility of the rich. Everyone should give what they can afford (be it resources, time or money) without regard to what the next man/woman is doing. The “let someone else fix the problem” approach is the reason so many problems aren’t fixed right now. If you feel like you can’t help or shouldn’t help because you are broke then maybe that’s the reason you’re broke in the first place. Great rewards come with great responsibility and you probably don’t have the fiscal intelligence to handle being well off, which is why you want Jay and Oprah to “drop some shit and buy haiti”.
