Listen 50 you sold all those records on image not skill… Your image sold those records and who you were working with being Em and Dre sold those records for you . So I guess you could say you were a 2 album wonder. Longevity is everything if you don’t have that shows you didn’t have the skill in the first place. Fear sells , curiosity sells, but skill stands the test of time. If you talking numbers like that you may as well be Vanilla ice as he probably sold more records then you.
It comes down to this ! ” What have you done lately” the answer is nothing!
Me know ya??? I don’t think so , men lie women lie # ‘s don’t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I don’t care how condescending people try to be with Fif the guy is hella intelligent and see’s through the comments in these interviews. I remember a bunch of guys from IGN had a phone interview with him regarding his game and one made a very snide but sugar coated comment and Fif caught that shit right there and called dude out. These guys are like “some of the best shots are by snipers” and you see Fif blow away their self righteousness like it was nothing. Whole interview felt like lets poke fifty and see what happens! I’m not a big fan of his music but damnit I respct him!

  13. blaqscorpio says:

@ Yessir2, they flopped too lol. I don’t know why y’all always want to compare 50 to the REGULAR dude. The fact of the matter is when looking at what 50’s done with his other albums, this one was definitely a flop. A flop for 50 is great 1st week sales for alot of other rappers, BUT a flop is a flop.

  14. THUNDERKUSH says:

As much as people want to hate on Curtis you gotta respect his hustle, not to mention that he does make some good music. Even if your not feeling his latest material you gotta give it up to him for making GRODT and The Massacre. Not to mention that he made almost as much money as Jay and Diddy in half the time that it took either of them.

  15. blaqscorpio says:

Russell opened the door for Jay and Diddy, and they opened the door a bit wider for 50. Say whatever you want, without dudes like them opening up the market it wouldn’t have been this easy and fast for 50. No matter how “smart” you think he is. He came in under the wings of EM and Dre (established artist and producer), who did Jay and Diddy have?

  16. THUNDERKUSH says:

agreed. but the fact is that the doors that jay and diddy and em and dre opened have been opened for alot of artists as well, but Curtis has really been the only guy to walk through those doors and break down more doors in the proces – stay relevant and re-invent himself. it’s not like he’s the only guy who had the opportunity to be as successful as he could be and milk the industry.

  17. james bond says:

BlaqScorpio you are one piece of a fuckin’ shit-head to ask who did Diddy come in under…
why ya think? Andre harrell, the fuckin’ mastermind to usher in that 92-93-94 R&B dominant era…umm, I believe we called that shit, New Jack Swing!…so what are you talkin’?, he was gamed by one of the best, and wit Andre came other well-known, highly successful relationships. Oops, u fail!
Jay came in slightly different, but still…it’s no comparison to how 50 blew the doors down, Dre and Em, or NOT!….He had material to work with…Nobody knew he had really negotiations going on with Em and them, when Wanksta dropped yo…It was 50’s audacity, it was 50’s heartlessness, it was 50’s motivation, it was 50’s attractive aura (yes, he made all the bitches want him)..it was 50’s….well you get my it was 50’s fuckin’ point!….50 went diamond on the 1st record…name 3-4 other “hip-hop” artists to do that (Nelly is excluded here – he did pop-rap records when it wasn’t even buzzin – I might give Nelly that distinctive reward, another subject tho)…DMX was the last good thing we had (mainstream wise), to be as vicious and hardcore as 50. They let the gloves off, that’s why I always liked there approach..Jay is the cool & calm fighter who knows he’s going to go away with a W…, 50 demands your attention…which is what this entertainment shit is all about anyway…

But to sum up all yall statement for, “50 Flopped” – No, he didn’t…the rap-game flopped, and yo bum ass helped..what’s the last cd you purchased from a store?…I’m talking physical copy of these records, nigga please…who yall kiddin? This shit is all digital, and you got a cd burner, so quit the joking….WE!, the consumers, advocates, “proclaimed” supporters, etc. whatever, we are the reason, that 50 Flopped, and hmmm…just about everyone of your “favorite” artist who released a record in the past 2 1/2 years…so eat that pussy

  18. Mike S. says:

    @james bond

That’s some very passionate shit you spoke, homie (and I’m not even gonna make a joke about it..).

I can tell you REALLY love 50 Cent so this is completely gratuitous as I’m aware I will have no effect on your opinion.

But, in my personal opinion, what @blaqscorpio was saying is that when Puff & Jay came out it wasn’t based hugely off of someone else’s cosign. Those guys came in and did what they did on their own merit. No one before them have done what they did on the level that they did it.

When you talk about owning your own record label, to having your own clothing line, sneaker deals, colognes, endorsements, tours, movies, TV etc. you have to mention dudes like Puff and Jay-Z. You cannot deny that. When Jay-Z sells out the Garden in minutes BY HIMSELF, that’s admirable. When Puff started Sean John with $20 T-shirts and now it’s up there with Tommy Hilfiger, that’s admirable. When Hov was the 1st non-athlete to have his own sneaker deal (and then help 50 get his BTW), that was admirable. When Puff flooded the reality TV scene and started producing his own shows and MTV & VH1, that was admirable. The list of firsts goes on and on. These are things that NO ONE DID BEFORE THEY DID IT!

Now when you consider that most of the success 50 has had was because of people like Puff & Jay, it’s almost disrespectful to compare him to them. They’re just as responsible for his success (better yet the possibility of his success) as Em & Dre. To take it a bit further, figure how many times 50 has failed..

    Clothing line… FAIL
    Longevity… FAIL
    Reality TV… FAIL
    Acting… FAIL
Managing his record label (dropping highest selling artist Game, signing MOP & Mobb Deep, etc.)… FAIL

To sum it up, you can’t on one hand give 50 all of the credit when he wins and then on the other hand blame the “the rap-game” when he loses. He’s made a lot of mistakes himself and he needs to own up to that or he’ll just make the same mistakes over and over (i.e. Ja Rule). 50 chose to release umpteen mixtapes FOR FREE right before the release of his album. He alienated himself from the rest of the music industry (including his own parent record label). He put controversy in the forefront of his career. He underestimated Kanye’s ability to sell, then overestimated his own ability to end people’s careers (last time I checked, Ross is doing just fine and he their beef didn’t make anyone want to stop working with him. Sidebar: I got the inside scoop on some of the features Ross lined up for Teflon.. BIG!). 50 couldn’t even get Jamie Foxx to the “Baby By Me” record with him like he wanted. He had to settle for Ne-Yo.. and that’s just laughable at this point.

I liked 50 when his music was good and no so predictable, but he just ain’t THAT no more. I’m not sure he can recover from the position he’s in, but if he does I’ll be the first to admit it!
