Jay-Z & The Neptunes In The Lab

Run for cover! Pharell’s definetly making his rounds as of late. Last week, he was in the studio with Asher Roth. Now, he and Chad are back in the lab with Jay-Z. For those keeping score, the production duo have appeared on the last five Hov albums. Only time will tell if Jigga’s next album’s blinged by that Neptune sound.

  4. WDTH DGTL says:

Dope. Excited to hear that new…..
The Neptunes and Jay-Z wear their Cross well.

  5. Get Off My Dick... Tell Yo Bitch To Come Here says:

why does pharrell look like he sells bootleg dvds on 125th street?

  6. reythehussein says:

hmm… Jay-Z & The Inept-Tunes, eh? *shrug* Still better than Timbalame.

YOU CAN HATE ON MY OPINION IF YOU WANT TO, I DON’T REALLY CARE.

  7. On to tha next says:

I knew he was in the recording process, cause he lettin that hair grow! Him and the neptunes always make that magic. Im so ambitious.

  8. RapMusic23 says:

Jay looks like a geek in that picture

  9. Mindbender says:

‘So Ambitious’ was so suspicious, but nobody wins ’em all. Neptunes know how to make something for Jay-Z. I still love ‘Allure’, eff da haters. That song is jamrock.
Hova and Pharrell & Co. got chemistry musically.
better this than another Timbaland let down.
it’s been a long time since ‘Hey Papi’.

  10. yaboitone says:

HUGE difference between bumbing around in Tim’s and rockin them with your hottest outfit trying to make a fashion statement…..stop looking for any and all gay little reasons to hate.

  11. Jay Fingers says:

@Mindbender—Really? You didn’t like “So Ambitious”? The beat was a little ehhh to me at first, but after really listening to what Shawn Corey was saying, the song really won me over. But yeah, “Allure” is an undisputed winner. Top 5 Jigga song IMO.

  12. Markoni says:

So jay z isn’t on that ”all black everything” trip. Damn, an to think it took a song from soulja boy to change things.

  13. az5lyrics says:

    HOV THE G.O.AT.

  14. Dan says:

Haters gonna hate but the Neptunes are the best production team in hip-hop history.

  15. Hey B. Dot.

That’s the last SEVEN albums. Neptunes has had a track or two on Jay’s albums since The Dynasty album. P.S. And don’t forget that ghost production on Volume 1 with Teddy Riley.

  16. B.Dot says:

nah, they didn’t do work on first Blueprint

  17. You’re correct, sir. My apologies.

    *salutes*

  18. B.Dot says:

    *tips durag* respect.

  19. cory says:

this would have been exciting 4 years ago, but we all know it…. neptunes done fell OFF

  20. Dashing says:

Neptunes fell off? Til the Casket Drops = fire.

  21. Dashing says:

    Although…

The Neptunes are responsible for 2 of Jay’s worst songs

“Anything” featuring Usher on Kingdom Come. The worst song on, arguably, his worst album
“Fuck All Nite” just plain bad, off BP2.
    (not to mention “Nigga Please”)

Jay definitely shares the blame on those records though.

    But they also gave him

“Give it 2 me” One of Jay’s best party tracks alongside “Big Pimpin” “Can I get a” an “Aint No Ni**a”
“Allure” Great beat, great Pharrell hook.

Hoping it’s one of the good ones. He needs to work more with DJ Khalil though. That dude is a monsta. And of course Just Blaze who somehow didn’t make the last 2 Jay-z albums (not counting reusing the beat for Ignorant Shit for AG).

  22. DARKAQUA says:

PHARELL LOOKS LIKE 70’S PORN STAR….

  23. Dan says:

“Anything” wasn’t that bad. There were worse beats on that album than that. Those Dre beats he had on KC were trash.

  24. B.Dot says:

nah, it was. that might be one of the worst jay-z songs ever

  25. Lay says:

@ Mindbender- Allure is one of his best tracks!! Loves it

@ Dashing- Fuck All Nite was dope!!! WHat are you on?? BUT I agree with you on one thing…
    Now Anything was a disgrace!!!

  26. Noles506 says:

This is 2010, not 1995…we want MUSIC NOT PICTURES!

  27. Noles506 says:

LOL @ WACK DIESEL…HE FORMS HIS OPINIONS OF PEOPLE OFF WHAT THEY WEAR, MEN OR WOMEN! GET BACK IN THE CLOSET QUEER!

  28. Dashing says:

Yeah “Anything” is almost unlistenable. But maybe it’s unfair of me to comment since I haven’t been able to make it to the 3rd verse ever. Despite repeated attempts.

@Lay, agree to disagree but there was a reason that wasn’t on Blueprint 2.1. (Ditto with “Nigga Please” btw.)

  29. blaqscorpio says:

Look at P getting his Bruce Lee on! LMAO

  30. ninja says:

OVER SIZED CLOTHES AND TIMS/ WE OFF THAT!!!!!

  31. younghov402 says:

Those 2 have amazing chemistry with Hov (pause). They have classic shit together! Of course Allure, Give It To Me, etc. I didn’t think Anything was fire, but it wasnt the worst track on KC, that was Trouble (another wack ass Timb beat)

  32. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Noles506

GO GAMBLE OFF YA LAST PAYCHECK U FUCKIN’ BUM!!!! AIN’T U THE BASTARD CHILD WIT NO PARENTS???? AWWWW MAN NO WONDER U A FUCK UP!!!!! BUHAHAHAHA!!!! I LOVE SHITTIN’ ON YA BUM ASS!!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

nah, it was. that might be one of the worst jay-z songs ever

    ^

    Lord have mercy.

  34. Chip says:

@ Dashing, Blaze contributed one other song to AG, very underrated title track

  35. homework says:

trouble was not produced by timbo retard it was dr dre, nigga please on bp2 was fuckin fire, anything was so disgustingly fruity right from the opening so…. Anything(beanie sigel album)> Anything(KC), the new neptunes sound is so unfresh but ppl accept it because its the neptunes FOR EXAMPLE they been using that same horn on every fucking beat: popular demand, so ambitious, doorman, that shitty inhibitions song by wale has the same reverse drums as showin out by clipse, which only tells me that these dudes are out of ideas. TO SUM IT ALL UP: not checkin for 40+ jay-z/neptunes these days. with that in mind i hope they come out of left field with some mindblowing shit that puts me in my place.

  36. homework says:

sidenote: “what more can i say” was released 7 years and 3 albums ago. think about it

  37. B.Dot says:

    ^
    damn. like, seriously.

  38. PITRI says:

Dam Pharell Looks like my bros twin!

  39. Dashing says:

@homework, damn. that just messed with my head.

@chip, good call. i forgot about that title track. that was solid. Hov needs more of that. More Just Blaze. Some Kanye, No I.D, DJ Khalil, and maybe some Justice League. And some unknowns to switch up the sound.

  40. NotoriousRambo says:

    NEPTUNE’S STILL GOT BANGERS

  41. Peaked Out says:

I dunno about this, that new luda joint with the neptunes was so-so trash

  42. Meggie P says:

Neptunes we off that! Their shtick just got old and less bang-y. But you have to admit so much out today evolved from the Neptunes sound…

You know what would be hot? Jay + NEW Dre production, if Detox is as good as it’s supposed to be. I lovvved what he did on Relapse.

  43. BWS says:

im sorry hov but pharell & chad gave the best beats to The big homie Game…..haha
