I agree completely with Jay Elec. He’s not saying Souljia Boy is nice on the mic, he’s saying hip-hop hasn’t died off because it still connects with people. He’s saying that in the past people may have connected with hip-hop through the lyrics, a la LL COOL J for him. But now a lot of people connect to the music through the energy, which is why so many non-lyrical southern rappers are popular. This is not a difficult concept to understand if you just listen and stop automatically dismissing anything that has to do with Souljia boy, gucci mane, etc. I mean, that music is not for me, but it doesn’t mean that the music lacks relevance.
