I think his friend throw such a party because they knew how embarrassing such a party theme would be a grown man. And fact that he’s (sort of) a celebrity probably only encouraged them more to do that theme because it surely get mentioned by someone in the media industry (entertainment magazine/TV outlet/blog).
My brother and his friends love doing this to each other all the time. (Last year, his friends threw him a Tinkerbell themed birthday party.) So rather than laugh Pharrell for having such an odd birthday party theme, I’m glad he just smiled through. If he’s anything like my brother though, he’s probably pieceing together a plan to get his friends back.
