Buckwild Reacts To VIBE Producer Bracket

Yesterday, VIBE released their Greatest Producer Of All Time bracket list. Although several heavy hitters are mentioned, beatsmiths like Shawty Redd, The Runners, and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League are noticeably absent. One of the snubs, Buckwild, questioned the omissions while newcomers Chase N Cashe did the same.

VIBE does this shit on purpose just for the buzz … it’s stupid but it works

  2. damanja10 says:

Why are these guys bitching and whining? Theres no way Buckwild or any of the newcomers would win this bracket anyway. Go make better beats

  3. flawda says:

Not everyone can be on the list man, why do these rappers and producers get butt hurt when these list come up.

  4. Ac@pella! says:

Lol. Good question. I’m still goin for Kanye. That’s MY, emphasis on the MY, favorite producer. His music speaks to a nigga, str8 up.

  5. The_Dynasty says:

But people all fall for it! Can’t knock Vibe though it’s a great marketing ploy to take things that no matter how you break it down you’ll never come out with a clear cut answer. You dealing with people opinions, taste, and emotional connectional so at the end of the day the winner is just chosen by popular opinion and favoritism. At the end of the day every producer on that list have a collection of great records and they are all good. Even if they were go head to head in a real beat battle to decide the winner they still wouldn’t be a unanimous winner…..so it’s pointless!!!

  6. mac DIESEL says:

WUT DOES VIBE MAGAZINE KNOW ABOUT HIP-HOP ANYWAY??? FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  7. koa29 says:

    @Ac@pella!

  10. mmkayy says:

    here we go again………….

ppl actually get caught up on this bullshit ?

  11. SLOW YOUR ROLL, KNOW YOUR ROLE says:

I understand the beef. Regardless if they were gonna win or not it feels like sumthn was accomplished by being mentioned!

  12. King JuggaNott says:

Vibe knows how to get everyone worked up.

  13. The_Dynasty says:

It would make sense if they took every producer on that list and told them to cast a vote for the producer they like other themselves. The bracket would than have at least some creditability. Because I know Kanye wouldn’t put himself beating out Rza or Premier and I know Dre wouldn’t take all the shine for his beats. Not saying Dre doesn’t make his beats but have you seen all the co-production credits people get for even the simplest of Dre’s beats? I know Dre aint the only one guilty of it too because a lot of those south producers are little more than arrangers, but at the same time that’s all a producer can be if warranted. That’s why Diddy is consider a producer without even touching a beat machine. Name one instrument Q. Jones played on Thriller but he’s still a producer.

  14. mac DIESEL says:

    @ B.DOT

UH MAYBE A LITTLE!!!! IT’S A R&B/SOUL/ALTERNATIVE MAG!!!! STOP FRONTIN’!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  15. damanja10 says:

Has anyone ever told you that you all sound pathetic when you say “DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!”

Like you think you can say whatever you want, and no one has the right to criticize.

  16. Losers says:

No self respecting hip hop head cares if publications such as Vibe, XXL, Blackmen, Maxim, GQ, or Rolling Stones has an opinion about who’s the greatest at anything in hip hop. Its like letting 106 and park tell you what the best video is. Vibe doesn’t have a clue about whats hot in the world of hip hop, they can’t stop tripping off soundscan #s, they couldn’t even hear heat if you jammed a gun to thier ear.

Any producer who felt they didn’t make the charts just isn’t commercial enough. Get in the Videos of the songs you produce, get rappers to shout you out at the start and end of your tracks, do the hooks on your hottest tracks yourself, produce a track for a pop star. If you dont wanna do that congrats you’re hip hop, they not gonna know your name till you’re dead, retired, or played out.

  17. yo says:

Dr Dre the most overrated producer ever. When was the last time he had a dope hit? He takes years to put out work, and he’s known to have many ghost producers and writers. SMH

  18. Dj Kev West says:

WHERE IS THE RZA!!!! how about Khalil? Buckwild? The Runners? Cool and Dre? Jazzy Pha? Havoc? Pimp C? Scarface? Battle Cat!! DJ Quik!!!! This list is bullshit.

  19. SilkCityP says:

Buckwild is realistically Top 5 All Time as a producer… If you think I’m buggin, check his catalogue… Real Hip Hop Heads know whats the deal! Lord Finesse should have been on that list too!

  20. mac DIESEL says:

    @ damanja10

CAN U TALK ABOUT THE POST N TRY TO STAY OFF mac DIESEL’S DICK!!!! THANKS!!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  21. Dashing says:

@damanja10, you must be new to the comments section. That’s mac DIESEL’s trademark…

@yo, the last hit he produced was “We Made You” for Eminem, before that “Crack a Bottle” which broke records for iTunes downloads. You can say Em made them happen but he made Em. Not to mention “Ok, You’re right.” and 2 solid cuts off that OB4CL2 album.

Also, if ghost producers do all the work, then how come Scott Storch isn’t the biggest producer in the game? Or Hi Tek?Or Daz? Why don’t they leave and blow up huge on their own? The dude has an ear and he’s been making hits since the 80s. Fact of the matter is no one in hip hop has been as successful for as long as Dre has been.

  22. Consignment says:

1.) Neptunes seeded higher than Timbaland??? GTFOH x2. Vibe is buggin.

2.) Easy Moe Bee seeded 12??? Vibe is buggin!!

    3. Scott Storch seeded ahead of Irv Gotti??? Vibe is trash!!!

  23. Consignment says:

4.) 88 keys seeded higher than Daz??? Vibe should leave these things alone!!!

5.) No Eric B. and Rakim??? We all know Rakim did the beats for them.

Rakim should be considered one of the greatest rapper/producers of all time with Dre, and Kanye, .

Daz’s Ambitionaz of a Ridah is one of the best beats ever. Vibe got it fucked up!!!

  24. fuckyall says:

who gives a shit that your favorite producer didnt make the list….it’s going to come down to the individuals listed at number one anyway……dre, kanye, timbo, premier

who cares if buckwild is not on the list….whos going to vote for him anyway? buckwild vs. dr dre….geeez, wonder who people will vote for….he should be on the list just for respect? Half the people you guys have mentioned were hot for like 2 years…lol come on now…

these arguments are dumb as fuck…..its like the best rapper list…it always comes down to nas, pac, biggie, eminem, jayz, rakim…..why throw a fit because lupe fiasco wasnt on the list? how far was he really going to go anyway? How many people are going to pick Lupe over 2pac? pointless man…..

  25. Consignment says:

    @fuckyall

U right, but at the same time Buckwild not making the list @ all is kinda crazy. I’m jus sayin-

  26. Consignment says:

    For the record Buckwild produced:

    Black Rob’s “Whoa!”

Notorious B.I.G. “I Got a Story To Tell”

Those two classics should count for somethin.

  27. fuckyall says:

    @cosign

There are way to many producers out here…though i respect most of them, making/or not making the list doesnt matter to me….like i mentioned before, they arent going to last long in the voting process anyway…this shit is already etched in stone…like best rapper debates….some people throw in rappers like Big L, Ghostface etc…and thats cool, thats your opinion….but the majority arent going to feel the same way…..

and you can put dr dre at the 32 seed and buckwild at number one and have them go head to head…..doesnt matter….buckwild will get bounced in the first round….lol….I dont pay attention to these “best ever” debates….its pointless….opinions are like assholes…everybody has one…

  28. Nick says:

Any greatest producer list without Madlib is fraudulent. Straight up.

  29. yungcarter says:

I am so tired of niggaz complaining all the damn time. Yeah they left off a few producer but fuck. stop all that damn bitching and moaning, and lets enjoy what Vibe has done.

  30. yo says:

    @dashing

Like I said when was the last time Dre produced a real hit? Not a song that is chosen on as a single and interscope pays for it to spin? Something an artist is able to perform on a global stage and is constantly being played? Crack a bottle? Lmao. Up in da club was probably his last hit. Ghost producers don’t blow up because they are GHOST!! At times they don’t even receive credits. DRE is the most overrated artist/producer ever.

  31. jigga says:

    @fuckyall

it must really bother u everyone knows dre and premo gon win y do u keep makin that comparison wit dre? i think its like 5 or six that coulda came off real talk

  32. mac DIESEL says:

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  33. Post no billz says:

Vibes jus tryna cause contrversey again… Remember they put biggie and puff on the cover with the headline east vs.west…then act like they had nothin to do with the beef.

  34. DunkDonDaDa says:

Any real hip hop knows that vibe is not crediable at all. B dot sounds dumb as hell because a few years ago him and yn were sayin the same thing about vibe and the source

    Smart dumb ass nigga

  35. yungcarter says:

@mac DIESEL Internet Gangsta, I hate bitch azz nigga like you, Cry Baby ass nigga. Fuck the Dumb shit. I wish your bitch azz would attempt to fuck wit me. Go ahead an reserve a Hospital bed you bitch azz nigga. and that not on any Tough Guy Blog Shit
U BITCH AZZ NIGGA, EAT A DICK AND DIE

  36. Dashing says:

    @yo

As I recall “How We Do” came out after “In the Club.” Btw, “In the Club” was a bigger hit than anything any other producer on the list has ever had so there’s no point in talking about “hits” to argue Dre shouldn’t be on there. Otherwise, you could eliminate a lot of great producers on there without big recent hits like Dilla, Havoc, Alchemist, 9th Wonder, DJ Quik, Hi Tek. I doubt that you would eliminate them.

“Something an artist is able to perform on a global stage and is constantly being played?”
“Crack a Bottle” was a hit that broke sales records. Maybe you didn’t like it, but it still counts..

And even if it didn’t count (for the irrational reason that you don’t like it) the criteria of judging someone from their most recent hit is flawed. In that case, The Runners, Soullja Boy, and others should be on here because of their recent hits. (That’s like saying Prince is overrated since he hasn’t had a hit in awhile. By that logic Lady Gaga>Janet Jackson. Neyo>Prince)

You have to look at someone’s entire career. Their impact. The versatility.

The claim of ghost producers is also foolish. If that was the case, well-respected producers/artists wouldn’t be lavishing praise on him and heralding him as the greatest. And like I said how come none of these ghost producers has emerged as a huge hip hop producer if they were making all of the hits?

  37. Dashing says:

WHERE IS THE RZA!!!! how about Khalil? Buckwild? The Runners? Cool and Dre? Jazzy Pha? Havoc? Pimp C? Scarface? Battle Cat!! DJ Quik!!!! This list is bullshit.

@ DJ Kev west, half of those folks are on there. Havoc, Cool and Dre, Rza, DJ Quik. This is my 5th correction. Check the damn list people.

  38. mac DIESEL says:

    @ yungcarter

“I hate bitch azz niggas like you”

“I wish your bitch azz would attempt to fuck wit me”

“Go ahead an reserve a Hospital bed you bitch azz nigga”

“U BITCH AZZ NIGGA, EAT A DICK AND DIE.”

    THEN U SAY….

“and that not on any Tough Guy Blog Shit”

IF I’M A INTERNET GANGSTER THEN WUT ARE U??? OH I KNOW, HOW BOUT A CONTRADICTING FUCKIN’ IDIOT!!!! HA!!!! SMART DUMB NIGGAS!!!!

    FUCK YOUR OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. Can says:

Kanye transcends and excels in quite of the few different categories in that bracket.

  42. A.L.C. says:

So who’s worse: Vibe or MTV??

  43. King JuggaNott says:

It’s always going to be confusion when you don’t list the requirements that were set to select the producers and how they came up with the seeds. Or the reasons one will beat the other.

  44. MaG says:

I think cats need to also realize this is VIBE’s point. You want to spark the conversation amongst hip-hop heads as to who is the best, who’s done what, etc….i’m sure there are cats on this boardwho didn’t even know who Buc was till Rap Radar posted the footage. I think we need lists and healthy debates like this…it lets the younger generation know what’s going on and keeps things fresh. If you think the list is wrong cool. if you think its dope then cool too. its all about the dialog before and after

  45. mac DIESEL says:

    @ yungcarter

HA!!!! U PRETTY MUCH SHITTED ON YASELF!!!! GOOD JOB DUMMY!!!! HA!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  46. mac DIESEL says:

    THANKS
