idk maybe just me but i felt they dropped the ball if i were directing, that bed scene wouldve been the intro only. not throughout the whole dam video. and the effects were overdone all over the place. director of this video needs to be shot.

  2. Papoose says:

dropped the ball, fuck was i thinking…he still will get an album download from me but dam come one its over

  3. young hov says:

    It is kinda weak..

  4. This is fucking terrible, and dude has ripped off practically every single mannerism from KanYe West imaginable. I really hate this guy. Not hating on as in jealous, but just hate him as in the mere thought of him or his music makes me angry. What a fucking joke. AUBREY! YOU’RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE!

  5. Ummmmm says:

C’mon Son; the track is kinda middle of the road to begin with, and he even said that this track was a warm up track that now he is leading as his single to a highly anticipated freshman album and he shoots this wack shit to it? I have a feeling he is now that artist who has had so much commercial success before this album that now he wants to be creative and do shit that is out there… problem with this is, in this day and age with the economy; do what is hot and make good music.. save that experimental shit for yourself, starting to think this guy isn’t that sophisticated of a rapper that we all hoped for.

  6. Danity Cane says:

Awwww man, I know y’all are about to go in…SMH. This is gonna be all bad…lol

  7. mikedreamsmusic says:

    No balls dropped here… (PAUSE)

I’ve been a fan of Drake since 2007, so you know I’m checking out everything he makes. This is his official FIRST video for the FIRST single from his FIRST album, so it’s almost like he’s starting over again. I was antsy to see it and also a little afraid that it might be a total failure like the “Best I Ever Had” video. It wasn’t. You can visibly tell he did play it safe, but it was a decent, simple, yet eclectic video.

People will DEFINITELY find things to say about it, because it wasn’t completed complicated and detailed, so those who don’t care for Drake anyways and mindlessly hate regardless will be able to reach and find something bad to say about it. Overall, it was dope to me. Though it was simple, it doesn’t necessarily look like the videos coming out these days. I think the symbolism of the projections of different images on the walls were dope. What I gathered from that is something how I feel just sitting in my room, introspectively thinking about the future.

The video was directed by Anthony Mandler. (Rihanna (“Russian Roulette”), Beyoncé (“Irreplaceable”), Jay-Z (“Run This Town”), and Mary J. Blige, for which he teamed up with the Canadian artist on “The One.”)

You can see a few sentiments of MJB’s “The One” in the video, now that I think about it.

By the way, the girl that favors Keyshia Cole a little bit on her VIBE cover is BEAUTIFUL. Just found out her name is Rita Ora. She’s what it do!

  8. Rhyme says:

That look like the same effects 50 used to shoot Banks “On My Way”, but less cheesy.
    It’s ok though.

  9. Ummmmm says:

@Mikedreamsmusic Yo Im a huge fan and have followed him throughout his career, and I am a Hip/hop rap artist myself… He could have done way more with that concept visually, looks as if they never finished the story board and used the first and last frame for the whole video and were like fuck it.

  10. grkboi908 says:

    ^^^^^agreed

  12. P.A. says:

smhhh on the reall dis vid is wackk. but nowadays 97% vids r trashed so i dont really care….hopefully is album aint waaclk

  13. dajumpoff44 says:

it’s ahhh.I feel Drake is overrated anyway.

  14. JD says:

JUNE 15 BUY GAME ALBUM FUCK DRAKE THIS VIDEO IS OK BETTER THEN BANKS VIDEO

  15. Tutor says:

Wow…I know this is a forum to give opinions but wow…I am not a Drake fan but even I have to say the criticisms are uncalled for. I mean seriously…what do y’all want? I think the video is cool, in fact this is my first time listening to this song and I made it through because of the video.

cues Hovi “everybody can tell you how to do it, they never did it”

  16. mikedreamsmusic says:

    @Tutor

AGREED. That’s my freakin’ quote of the day now.

“Everybody can tell you how to do it, they never did it.” – Jay-Z

  17. D says:

for an “actor” he can’t seem 2 get a music vid right

he’s trying 2 be all cool but comes across corny (no homo)

  18. JohnBlack says:

Damn, Drake done fucked up. He really dropped the ball on this one and fell on his fucking face. Not to say that this video is awful but it damn sure ain’t good. The video doesn’t even follow the concept of the song. Due is spitting this lines “I know way to many people here now right now,
That I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are yall? ” standing in an empty room? The Lloyd banks effects on the wall didn’t fit the lyrics. Also the song just isn’t that good. Of you listen to drakes other stuff you notice that his music entices you to rap/sing along with the lyrics. This song doesn’t even make you wanna rhyme along the chorus.

As i am critical myself i mos def don’t think the criticism is unwarranted. This guy has the biggest buzz since 50 and has more crossover potential than anyone out now. The whole HipHop community is watching his every move. He can’t afford to FAIL. Wayne is in jail so he can’t help him out. It’s time for him to stand on his own two foot and the way things are looking right know he’s more like wheel chair Jimmy.

  19. Dashing says:

Yeah, this is another wack video. Not as bad as Nicki’s but definitely lame. I think the bar may be set too high for this dude considering he’s a newcomer, but he keeps dropping the ball. First with this song, then with the video. I still think nthat his album will do well and he’ll have other big hits on it, but this is below my expectations.

  20. Adrian says:

^^^for real! those are some helluva suspect dances he got going on. he can’t help but look like kanye cuz thats how you move when you’ve never done any physical labor EVER.

Drake writes SUPERB r&b songs but his raps are mediocre and his physical image successfully kills anything good you had to say about him.

what if jimmy jam and terry lewis released a rap album- EXACTLY! bad idea

  21. LULZ says:

is this a case of Drake trying to hard or spectators being to hard on this guy? I mean seriously i’m no Drake stan but this is a pretty sick ass video i’m not sure wtf you niggas were expecting or if you weren’t expecting shit just waiting to pounce on the vid as soon as it dropped but this video gets the thumbs up from me…LMAO @ niggas waiting for Drake to drop Thriller or some shit *Tom Jackson Voice* C’MON MANNNNN!! WHY WONT YOU LET THIS NIGGA BE GREAT

  22. “Next’s up Drake.. ‘see what he do wit’it”

Video is ok.. track is ok I guess.. nothing crazy though
however I know Im cop his album regardless

  23. Truth will out says:

Opinion heads on here are giving advice and hazin Anthony Mandler’s directing skills? Ha. Ya’ll are stupid. Now get off the computer and go back and stack those boxes in the aisle number #3.

  24. Truth will out says:

But I agree, i hate that Drake bites Kanye and Jay’s mannerisms.

  25. ya says:

I swear, ppl r expectin this kid to give u a video/song that would make u bust a nut or smthn, and even then they’d complain they aint cum hard enough (fuck a pause). i’m not even that hardcore of a drake fan, tho i like his music, but i thought the video wus dope. the whole concept of bein stuck in ur thoughts wit so much shit goin on, not knowin who to trust and makin sure u can keep up wit the new lifestyle wus cool, and the visuals were DOPE as hell. y’all need to relax and enjoy the art, this ‘its cool to call anythin mainstream is wack’ shit is weak as hell

    co-sign Tutor

  26. Villyvillz says:

i get a gay vibe from this nigga everytime i see him.

  27. ya says:

but i will say that he needs to stop over actin cuz it looks corny in these videos…lol

  28. J.PREZ(2XXL) says:

@ TRUTH WILL OUT—-JAY Z OBVIOUSLY BITES KANYE’S MANNERISMS, JAY Z IS A FUCKIN LAME……..AND IF U SAYIN THIS SONG AND/OR VIDEO ARE WACK GUESS WAT UR A FUCKIN HATER…..THIS VIDEO IS TIGHT AS FUCK, DIFFERENT, SHOT FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE, AND A NEW AGE VIDEO COMPARED TO WAT HAS BEEN PUT OUT RECENTLY……
CO SIGN @YA…GOOD ASS POINTS……THESE WACK ASS MUFUCKERS AINT DOIN SHIT WIT THEY LIFE, AND WONT EVER DO SHIT GO BACK TO UR MEDIOCRITY;, WIT SUB PAR EVERYTHING, AND CONTINUE TO HATE BUT THAT PERSON IN UR MIRROR KNOW’S HOW LIL U WILL AMOUT TO…U NIGGAS ON HERE CANT OUT SPIT ME, AND FOR DAMN SURE AINT FUCKIN WIT DRAKE……HOW BOUT YALL WEAK ASS NIGGAS COME AT, GO 16 FOR 16… I PROMISE ILL KILL YALL, USING UR WACK ASS PUNCHLINES AGAINST YOU…….IF U AINT FUCKIN WIT DRAKE THEN KILL YO FUCKIN SELF, AND IF U THINK U SOMEBODY STEP UP AND FUCK WIT ME

  29. jimi says:

    To johnblack you said

Due is spitting this lines “I know way to many people here now right now,
That I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are yall? ” standing in an empty room?

You cant be that dumb to not understand how that line correlates to him standing in an empty room????

  30. _please says:

    @ ya: absolutely.

I dont understand what was expected?

from ne1else this vid would not draw as much heat. gotta be objective enough to look past hype (at least when there is this much of it)

its a pretty good video! pretty high concept, and good production value, and avoids cliche pretty well.

  31. The Noid says:

You nigga’s hate everything…who cares it’s a bit boring but you guys are over analyzing this kids career. From the very start there was no way he was gonna live up the the Christ like expectations place on him. I think he’s a good artist but he ain’t saving hip-hop.

  32. blaqscorpio says:

Why would they start the vid with him sitting on a bed? WTF

  33. _please says:

    @jimi: thank you! absolutely.

how dumb would it be if he pantomimed everyword in the song? do you want like a literal interpretation of everything he says?

*standing in room full of people with confused look on face. suddenly realizes what he is doing.”

  34. blaqscorpio says:

    BRING ON J.COLE!

  35. Oj Da Cornball says:

Only payola will make this #1 record. I guess his buzz helps a lil.
naturally a cool record, but good enough.
the video is quality, budget, but not impressive.

Young Money dropping wack videos. Nicki Manaj vid sucks now this one.

  36. Toya says:

Hopefully this is a one time occurrence. Hate to see a guy with somewhat decent talent get rubbed over something so simple as bad directing.

  37. HaHa says:

RapRadar? Nah. RapHadar. All yall wanna do is hate. This video is dope! Awkward, for sure, but he didn’t fumble on this one. Better then the Best I Ever Had video. Stop hatin on Drake cuz he’s cocky. Half of you guys are wannabe rappers on here anyway, GTFOH.

  38. JD says:

    MILTON EAST LONDON FUCK DRAKE

  39. Tiny Tim says:

Aside from thte fratboy-hop he did in the middle of the vid, this one is dope

  40. yungcarter says:

You would think with his 1st video, he would realize how important an music video can be. Personally, i enjoyed the first video, but that was a song for the females, but women didnt want to see that. Great Song Terrible video for his image. Now with “Over” Cool song, Boring Azz Video.
Strike TWO. We are riding with you Drake, but damn, you gotta do better. FUCK IT GET HYPE WILLIAMS. Nicki Minaj song suck, but she has a cool video and with that alone that bullshit might start to grow on people.

  41. mikedreamsmusic says:

    @yungcarter

I agree with the Nicki Minaj comment . I didn’t like the song at all, but the video was certainly superb and caused the song to grow on me.

But I still don’t see the problem with this video. Drake did his thing and the director did his thing. I’m starting to think it didn’t matter WHAT the video was, people were going to hate on it regardless.

  42. Word says:

Dope video. Fuck is yall thinkin?

  43. Eyerone says:

    i thought it was straight.

when he tries to do the hard faces and what not, it makes me laugh. i thought the video would have been MORE fun..but fuck it…it was decent.

  44. Clark says:

It captures … it takes the song to another place,”. “It offers up a whole different look for the song. The song — to a lot of people — is ignorant, it’s club. This video is what I was really thinking about. The song is like a bad dream — but it’s not a bad dream, it’s not a terrible dream. It’s a little evil. The video really reflects that. It’s a struggle between the purities of my past life and what this new life has to offer. Even in the video, you see me looking back and forth between the two and deciding. At the end of the video I don’t necessarily make a decision, but when you get the album, you’ll see what choice I make.”
“Over” is early in the Thank Me Later track list, and is part of a story that’s told through the album.
‘Over’ is a great alter-ego moment. It’s the dark side of things and I really wanted that to come out first.”

    The video captures all that.

  45. JohnBlack says:

    @_please and jimi
The fact that you think that line correlates to him standing in an empty room makes me think you’ve been on drake balls to long. He could be standing in a fucking box floating on a river and you’d probaly say the same thing. Please get off his nuts and be real. And no the video doesn’t have to be a visual translation of the lyrics but there should be some kind of relation between the two.

Let say for the sake of argument, him standing in the room is probably Drake being in his own thoughts. Cool. Everything else in the video is totally random. to the chick against the wall shaking her ass, the the kaleidoscope images of himself. The only thing that relates to the song is the chicks leaving while while he is rhyming about it being OVER.

Also the reason why I’m bringing up these point is that if you’ve seen Drake’s other videos you would probably notice that they nicely follow the concept of the song. Video visual are often meant to convey a message. Most of the time it’s the message in the song. This video doesn’t do that at ALL. If you look at all the great hiphop video you will see that the visuals always complemented the lyrics (Best HipHop video ever: Roots – What they do) perfectly and convey a clear message. To me that’s what a video is suppose to do.

It doesn’t matter of you talk about selling drugs, partying, being broke, or doing some gangster shit. And even if an artist chooses to not have his video completely complement the lyrics but chooses to rely on symbolism the video should be nice to look at (Jay-Z- on to next one). This video doesn’t even remotely achieve those goals.

  46. As far as i’m concerned, this video is tight.

If he came out here flossin chains or cruisin in a lambo with some dumb ego-driven shit, y’all would say he’s wack and big-headed. Instead, he came with a safe, well-directed video with no corny cameos and kinda did his thing. Yet, you’re still sayin he’s wack.

Drake is a problem. The haters fuel his buzz and trust, he’ll do serious numbers first week.

    Hip-hop needs Drake right now.

  47. yungcarter says:

Im a big Drake fan whether he’s rappin and singin, the kid is dope but the video could of been alot better. I just dont want Drake to become like Red Cafe. If yall remember, Red Cafe came out with a hot track, but in the video the nigga was kind of lookin like 50 cent and the people didnt accept that. That was about 7 years ago. Since then he continued making good music, but just recently has he got back in the spotlight.

  48. B. Digital says:

Some of the visuals were good (Example: About the 3:50 mark) but for the most part it was all over the place and a little too abstract.

  49. Samsohn says:

listening to Drake (i mean Fake) is like anal sex…it’s only for faggots and bitches

  50. So Icy Boi! says:

The video dnt suppose to make cause they video is opposite of the lyrics “ILLUMINATI” video concept

  51. jimi says:

    @john black
Its not about being on drakes balls its about critical thinking skills which you clearly don’t have

  52. Mr.AFromThaT says:

^^^^^^^^^^^^ My DAMN, DROP THE ILLUMINATI SHIT, IF DRAKES INTO ILLUMINATI, THAT MUST MAKE B.o.B. THE POPE??????????????

  53. van says:

The video is horrible, but it’s not for me to comment because Drake’s fans are teenage girls that watch Teen Nick.

  54. dingle's berry says:

    Let’s blame Kanye.

  55. Slammer says:

Am i the only one feeling it?

  56. mikedreamsmusic says:

    @Slammer

Nope fam, you’re not. There are other respectable fans out here that see the greatness.

  57. MEAKO says:

    www> the sneaker hotel >com

  58. I think the video is cool. Still need to process all the imagery. Hopefully it will make sense then. Nonetheless I think somethings could have been added.

  59. Will says:

    Whos the girl? she bad

but Like the song aint that hot and kinda short so what would you expect niggas dont know how to direct rap videos anymore they just put the artist in front the green screen and let the special effects designer do it

Last good hiphop video I seen was 50 Cents Do you Think About Me Im talking storylines people the Wayne Shes On fire Video was hot too The Concept Whoever did those videos need to do every rapper videos becuz Niggas is losing they touch Hype Williams and Chris Robinson Yall Niggas is Losing Yall Touch Where Little X at and Bryan Barber That I choose You Video and the way you Move Video was the shit and Roses

Stand the Man Does good videos too

  60. Cola says:

The girl is Rita Ora from Roc Nation. The vid is a huge disappointment. It didn’t take me to another place like Drake was boasting about. Someone call Rik Cordero!!!!

  61. Will says:

and @ all the Drake coccsuccers

We not hating on Drake its not his fault its the director’s so when we say the video is wacc we saying the Visual is wacc not The Song Drake has no control of how the director does the video if it was Directed by Him then Yea but Its THe Director Just like that Wacc ass Drop The World Video we not saying the song is wacc we saying the nigga who wrote the treatment for that shit did a wacc job at it

  62. rickjames21 says:

I personally think its dope….No qualms with me on this one Aubrey…A job well done and is that the ROC Nation artist as the first lady…sweet lord she fine…

  63. jitty says:

DISAPPOINTMENT! either this niggaz jus wak or the industry wants him to fail cuz alll his videos been trash…this cant b his lead single brah he buggin

  64. Will says:

    Kid Cudi-Pursuit of Happyness(Video) Both versions>>>>> OVer(Video)

Drake couldve went the route Cudi went on the Soundtracc to My LIfe Video and that wouldve been hot but this shit is wacc I think dude need to start directing his own Videos I mean if you wrote the song you should be able to write a Visual to it

Like a Clipshow of behind the scenes footage like Soundtracc to My Life wouldve been a hotter version he couldve had clips of him as a youngin doing Degrassi then have Clips of him now you throw in some studio footage here and ther and you got a hot video at least a decent one

like most people see Drakes work as a A+ or F- there is no in between but I think Dude couldve pulled off an average video if he put his mind to it

  65. JohnBlack says:

    @jimi
Drakes ball juice got you confused. This has nothing to do with critical thinking. More with perception and opinion. You perceive this video to be complementary to the song. You think the visuals in the video in someway symbolizes the essence of the song and that OVER is a good video. I disagree. I perceive this video to be a failure on the director and somewhat on Drake’s part. The video makes no sense it all. It’s hot garbage. There is NO message in the video. If you see one you’re reaching to grasp something you have no knowledge of. We both have no idea what Drake or the Director was trying to accomplish with this video but I’m pretty sure the next interview with Drake will be filled with questions on how this wack ass video came to be.

Until then, stay of the ball juice. It’s weakening you reasoning.

  66. ROC_NY_2012 says:

All of the visuals in the video were real tight, the only problem is that there was absolutely no concept to it. Could have came much more correct, and for that reason I probably won’t watch the video because there was nothing exciting, shit is straight dick cheese.. Song is still tight though.

Last actually good music video off the top of my head is Do You Think About Me – 50.. Had every element rappers and producers should strive for.. I’m sure there were others

Hopefully later this year we get some good shit from Em, Dre, Kanye just to name a few .. IF they ever drop

  67. Yooo says:

    damn this video sucks

  68. TEFLON DON! says:

    fuck this butt hole lover

  69. I.S.A.A.C. says:

Like think Drake is real talented, tho his music decisions over the past 18 months have come with many disappointments….

with that said, I’m feeling the video.

  70. gooch says:

this video is ok, id say its his best but thats not saying much

  71. Brick says:

    My thoughts on the video:

    Listener = viewer

  72. King JuggaNott says:

    The shit was hot.

  73. Rickk says:

I think its dope, mite juss be me —> *kanye shrug*

  74. Dan says:

The video is pretty good. I like he decided to keep it artistic and not pull a “Best I Ever Had”………Some people just hate on Drake for who he is and let that stand in the way of the product he is putting out.

Song is mediocre but the video is better than average.

  75. Yooo says:

You Drake stans should just accept that he is a cheap shit version of B.o.B

  76. Just Plain Jones says:

It was HONESTLY pretty dope .. at first i thought .. what kinda windows movie maker effects is this nigga trying to use on his video .. but the whole room with projection on it concept is actually SUPER DOPE and i can honestly say.. i have never seen it before so.. kudos wheel chair jimmy

  77. Ac@pella! says:

I thought it was dope cinematography wise, but it didn’t have anything to do with parts of the song. It’s different, no lie. I like it AND the song (watch the haters pour in. lol). Like I explained in the previous posts, the kid is really jus startin’ out on his own.Give him time to grow even more and he’ll deliver guranteed. I’m still anticipating Thank Me Later. Don’t know about the 18 billion other haters on here. We all know how fickle RapRadar fans are. He may have dropped the ball concept wise, but it’s still dope and super different….

…And ppl…please get up off of that Illuminati shit. It’s truly aggrivating and wack…

  78. Ac@pella! says:

Oh. And one more thing. I’ma need Drake to stop doin those corny ass hand gestures and face twitches he does in every video. It’s worse than Kanye’s over-dramatic actin’ ass in the “Stronger” video (Kanye, ur my dude, butchu can’t act 4 shit, yet). Drizzy, invest in some new movements bruh. Ur an actor, u KNOW how to act. That is all. Lol! 🙂

  79. JohnBlack says:

    @Ac@pella!
I was going to mention that but I totally forgot. It’s like his right hand has a mind of its own. The face twitches looked funny to me. I actually LOL’d. Dude is looking mad serious when he’s doing them. His face is trying extra hard to convey the lyrics.

  80. Can says:

the thing is, people who love a song can just love it to themselves and don’t have to comment on a blog talking about how much they love it, especially when it’s popular. because it’s popular, a lot of people love it, why say something?

people who hate a song have to be much more vocal because they feel marginalized and insecure about it, so it has to be SHIT or the worst thing ever or whatever, ebcause they feel like its harder to get their voices heard.

so if you read a rap blog and take it with anything more than a grain of salt, fucking EVERYTHING that is posted about sucks, because by nature- if its being posted, it’s already reasonably popular so the people who like it can read it and smile and go on with their day. whereas haters have to CAP it up.

  81. Can says:

men lie, women lie, but them numbers won’t. have fun hateblogging.

  82. Slim says:

its ok for a rap video i mean what do y’all expect the song doesn’t have a concept so why would the video have on

  83. Jay Fingers says:

This is okay. I’m not mad at it.

  84. Legacy says:

This dudes super wack. How can anyone think this Jewigga is dope? He sounds like Waynes mentally retarded cousin imitating him cause he dont know what else to do. Homeboys terrible and you bitch niggas cosignin need to give back your hip hop passess, them shits been REVOKED.

  85. J.prez(2xxl) says:

I am a huge drake and young money fan and have listened to drake for longer than most, the illuminati is very relevant with Wayne….not so much with drake but I’d u listen drake hits on it, and he is in that blight where he has a choice to make real talk….to y’all who get mad and say its not a possibility is naive, and ur uninformed…..listen to the words, and there isn’t a place the illuminati is more relevant than music and music videos right now,and urban music is where it’s most relevant

  86. nasssstttyyyyy says:

uh i feel like they tryin to hypnotize me

  87. shawnie says:

Video is sick….. open your minds….. what would like to see? b*tches and cars?? sorry its been done… Drake is breathing fresh air into the game, there is a reason he is the hotest artist out right now….. Anyways…. he will do a Mill the frist week…. and then it will really be OVER…. in case you didnt know… T-DOT….. we do this……

  88. Theloneus says:

Shit. Now this dude finna start talkin’ bout how much this game is blah blah blah haters. Blah blah blah I can’t believe this. Blah blah blah. Nigga I don’t care. Period.

  89. J.PREZ(2XXL) says:

    @LEGEND

NIGGA GET OUTTA HERE……HE IS THE SOLE REASON EM, WAYNE, AND KANYE WEST WERE ON THE SAME SONG TOGETHER……HE GOT 2 FUCKIN GRAMMYS OFF HIS MIXTAPE, THAT HAD OVER A MILLION DOWNLOADS, THEN WENT GOLD FIRST WEEK WHEN HE RELEASED THAT SAME FREE MIXTAPE IN STORES…..HE SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN ALL THE NEW ARTISTS, EVEN OLDER ARTISTS ON SOMETHING U COULD DOWNLOAD FOR FREE….YALL NIGGAS IS LAME, AND UR OPINIONS DONT MEAN SHIT TO NOBODY…BUNCH OF GARBAGE ASS NIGGAS ON HERE MAN FOR REAL,,,,,,,,WHO THE FUCK ARE YALL (DRAKE VOICE)!!!

  90. FoSHO says:

“Hater niggas marry hater bitches and have hater kids”- Kanye West

  91. Legacy says:

    @J.PREZ(@XXL)
Haha Ez lil Boy, Dont get your panties twisted. I understand you youngsters wouldnt know hip hop if it kicked in your teeth, but this aint hip hop, Wheelcahir Jimmy is pop along with the rest of Young Money and most music being labeled as hip hop today. Fuck a grammy and record sales, Slaughterhouse got ZERO grammys and very little record sales, Shit was album of the year. True fuckin hip hop. Them niggas show you how its done. And forever was a pitifukll excuse for a song until Em KILLED THAT, That shoulda been Em’s song with no features to fuck it up. So go turn your radio on and listen to WheelChair Jimmy mixed in with Miley cyrus and the rest of the poptart fam.

    THIS VIDEO IS HOT!!!
    THE VISUALS ARE FIVE STAR!!!
MATCHES WITH THES SONG BECAUSE ITS ALL OVER THE PLACE
    EXCELLENT 5/5

  95. lyrykal says:

like drake said ” niggas will buy 2 n claim they got it for their sister” all y’all haters r the reason drake is gonna sell double platinum. he’s the rapper y’all love to hate

  96. ya know sometimes a cliche video is exactly what you need. most of the artists now are going “outside the box” for the sake of goin outside the box… me personally i liked the record enough that he could have shot the video in a 1 take Shot in 113 secs like the Ryan Leslie vid and it would have been great visual. But the forever vid was the look for this record.. BIG, Loud, Bright, Flashy… very attentive.

    I GUESS…

Cuz I mean just becuz the video is wacc we hating if niggas is saying on twitter he dropped the ball they hating too Just becuz something is super different dont mean its hot nigga I mean Like Ray Allen Acting in Movies is different but i dont wanna see every movie cuz is in Ron Artest rapping is different but I dont wanna hear that shit becuz its wacc and this video is differnt but i wont watch it again becuz its wacc Kat Staccs is a different kind of chicc dont mean I want to fucc her that different shit dotn mean its hot that Badu Window Seat Video was hot becuz it was different and it had a a good concept and story to it this shit its just a nigga sitting in a bed with pictures flashing but The female is very very very Bad thats the highlight of the video is the girl

Niggas got so much cum from succing niggas off they cant see now

and like i said when we criticize videos its not drake thats in the hot seat its the nigga who wrote the treatment for this shit like i said before Drake couldve wrote the story for the video instead of letting niggas with a Big name fucc it Up

and Im a Huge Fan of Videos Im talking from Micheal Jack “Smooth Criminal” to the Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up” To Fat Boy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” a visual has to fit the music and this does a poor job like where are the people he’s talking about who wasnt there last year where is the symbol for those people since you niggas know so much explain becuz i dont see it like its not blatant or discrete its just isnt there

let’s be real. the video was boo boo. the end. i’d never watch it more than once. and green screens are breeding creative laziness in directors. without the green screen crutch they would have had to make a video that supported the song’s content. but noooo, lets just but the nigga on a bed and have one random ass female cameo…make him jump around aimlessly in a twilight zone of effects and call it a music video. this shit ain’t art, it’s laziness.

youtubes nuthin but a g thang*

    ahh, much better.

  100. majest says:

i could have done a better job.the video has some good visuals but the bummy that edited the video fuck it up big time.

DRAKE’S NAME IS GETTING POWERFUL, HIS CONTENT ALONE MAKES PEOPLE WANNA TALK ABOUT HIM.

    VERY INTERESTING.

  109. sway-z says:

Said it once, I’ll say it again. You can buy dope beats, dope features, a bunch of radio spins, but you can’t buy CHARISMA. This nigga, no matter how he tries to do it, comes off corny anytime you see him. His stage show, his videos, interviews, anytime this dude speaks or gets in front of a camera, all that smooth cool shit he be singing about goes out the window. He has no look or style or charisma whatsoever. At all.

  110. Tony Yayo says:

fuck all you. drake didnt make the damn video. smh. gtfooooo

  111. money Mitch says:

Hes an actor playing a rapper

  112. Nathaniel says:

    @Person

listen fuck nigga. green screen doesn’t = laziness on the part of the graphic designers. they’re the ones doing all the work. did i even MENTION graphic artists initially? no. green screens = laziness on the part of the director. it’s minimal work. minimal. now shoot a video like Door Man by the clipse, THAT is DIRECTION. and on the part of the DIRECTOR, its takes a hell of a lot more time and effort.

“nothin’ bout me CG, it’s all real, none of this is green screen” – L. Fiasco

    @Yooo We’re waiting.

  116. keepingitreal says:

YAWWN!!!!, i understand abstract, thought provoking videos but sometimes some good ol TnA, high fashion, kicks and whips is all that is really needed for a music video, remember the good ol days when a video was just fun to watch, 3 and half minutes of escapism for regular folks who aspire to do it up like the videos, i go to talib, mos def, murs, common even kanye for thinking videos, for radio fluff i just wanna see some juicy light skinned g”s, kicks that aint coming out, and whips i will one day be able to drive not a dude sitting in a room with a bunch of lights flashing around him, either way drake is still next, i guess videos is this guess Achilles heel.

  117. NMcG says:

    Shit song. Shit video.

Co-sign money Mitch “He’s an actor playing a rapper”.

Badly. His facial expressions are so ridiculous you want to punch him. He’s doing everything so by the book of what he thinks a rapper should do, and it just looks so rehearsed in front of a bedroom mirror.

And his face is just WRONG. His features look too far apart, too big or too wide or just…something. The proportion of his face/head is like the “customize facial features” section of a video game if you pressed the random button.

  118. mikedreamsmusic says:

    @NMcG

    How do you sound?

His face is all wrong? You’re faulting him for being born?

  119. LAWS says:

Actually better than most of the shit “music videos” that have been coming out the last few months.

The vibe matches the the 70’s televison/movie/james bond movie intro feel that the beat gives off. The visuals are pretty dope.

Cool. Lets hope for something epic with the next video.

  124. UltraKid says:

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again simple minded people want simple minded cliched music videos. Drake tried something different video with “Best I Ever Had” and “Over” but his fan base are almost all ignorant little tweens andthey really don’t know shit about Art. Kanye West’s videos are also different but most of his fans love Art but Drake’s fans just don’t get it at all. Drake is heavily influenced by Kanye and he’s never really gottin’ to show his artistic side until now and his tween fanbase are pissed because he didn’t give us a straight foward video with him partying with a bunch of hot chicks, throwing money in our faces and showing off everything he owns that’s expensive—How old are you guys really if you want a cliched video like that? How old are you when you rather have a cliched video over Art? Michael Jackson changed music videos so it wouldn’t be used as just promotion for a single but something more. Plus everybody should stop making Drake out to be next Jay-Z because he’s not the next Jay-Z or Wayne or even Kanye—Drake is Drake so just take him for what he is. He’s not the best but he is super talented. I personally think J. Cole is better but I could never deny Drake’s talent plus I think Drake is still growing musically.

  125. UltraKid says:

I’m hoping he keeps this artistic direction for some of his other singles but I know when he drops that collab with Lil’ Wayne he’s gonna go for a more Mainstream approach but it could still be artistic if he gets Hype Williams or Chris Milk.

  126. NMcG says:

    @mikedreamsmusic

    Nah man…I blame his parents

Some wide-screen genes in that family

  127. teejay says:

I don’t know if there’s as much a problem with the video as there is with the song itself. It doesn’t lend itself to a video that well, much less that the hook is as un-hooky as possible.

  128. NMcG says:

^^^ the hook is ok but it just doesn’t fit this song AT ALL…it brings the whole song to a grinding halt every time…it sounds like an old cassette tape when someone has stopped a song halfways through and recorded a different song over it by accident…

  129. Senyo_Twilight says:

Dis man Drake decides to make a video out of Mac screensavers #dead. I fuccs wit da music but this video is #over

  130. N DOT C says:

^^^ LOL!!! I think my music video “I Need Love (I Figured It Out)” is better than “Best I Ever Had.” I think this video would be better had there been more performance from the actors/actresses rather than the effects. I see the artistic side which is cool, but on the entertainment side there wasn’t enough energy from the performer. The effects take away from what everyone is tuning in to watch… Drake. This music video did do it’s job though, because it has all of us talking about it. The effect is similar to the Tiger Woods commercial cause love it or hate it, it’s viral for everyone to talk about. Check out the video “I Need Love (I Figured It Out)” by N DOT C

  131. Rickk says:

I don’t kno if anybody heard the director explain the video
Drake is sitting down recalling all his memories from the pass time of his career, the images that reflect on him are his memories of his journey so far,
Juss for anybody who was confused about the video….

  132. the truth says:

This is not a conspiracy theory.

This video has some serious symbolism. It’s documenting Drake’s initial flirtations with the dark side, with evil, the devil, and the trappings of the entertainment industry.

The scenes with Drake sitting in the room with the ominous, apocalyptic images all over the walls symbolize the collosal inner struggle, spiritual struggle, occuring within Drake’s mind/soul. He is sitting still and contemplating while disturbing images are playing all around him, often images of fire. If you notice, once the video begins, the sihouette of his body flashes and turns to fire, symbolizing the beginning of his birth as medium or muse for evil. This is the beginning of a “rebirth”.

At the two minute mark, when the 2nd verse begins, we see Drake dressed in darker clothing, looking more sinister, while some evil looking chick gyrates in the background. The background is darker, and we also see concrete cracking and fire emerging on the screen immersed with his face rapping in the background.

At the same time, we see the Rita Ora character, who looks innocent and cute, observing Drake while he’s singing “What am I doing? What am I doing?”. He is questioning whether his decision to turn himself over to evil, and thus abandoning his innocent love with the Rita Ora character, is legitimate. We see him wincing and looking remorseful in the scenes with Rita Ora. The scenes spliced with the seemingly evil girl dancing
are sequenced with him saying “Way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year, who the F are ya’ll?

At 3:31, recognizing that Drake is lost to evil, the girl kisses him goodbye. 3:41 shows Drake’s body/silhouette being split into two, his new self is literally being ruptured and born from his old one.

Sinister but brilliant. So subtle. You’d think it was a boring ass video otherwise.

“it’s just what comes with the fame and I’m ready for that”. Hope you are bro.

Images are not an accident, they’re carefully chosen.

    Mandler did it again.

Expect Drake’s videos to get darker as his career progresses.

this dude sounds like wayne (voice)

how can you compare Michael Jackson videos to this there is nothing artistic about this Smooth Criminal Thriller or Kanye West these videos are nowhere near Kanye West Videos Touch The Sky Jesus Walks The 1st and 2nd cut

You calling people ignorant nigga you ignorant if you can compare there videos to drake’s the video is wacc homie get over it Best I Ever had was wacc too I watched it the other day them bitches wasnt even that hot its wacc its wacc shit is wacc

My nigga its sad that you so much of a Stan that you trying to put up this video up there with kanye’s

its a difference with trying to be artistic and being artistic Kanye’s Love Lockdown thats art this video is trying to be art but it Fails horribly Erykah Badu Window Seat Art Best I Ever Had failing at trying to be art some shit is better left at being simple instead of failing at trying something different

Nigga Come on You willing to say this video is better than Touch The SKy or Window Seat the difference between Kanye and Drake is Drake fails at his videos Kanye dont
