Disrespectful views at Tha Kang, T.I.? Nah, Ms. Banks you're out of line. Yeah Harris' Aussie ain't that dope but neither are you. I just saw you at Coachella and I wasn't impressed. You got the look, the swag, the tough talk but where are the tunes? "212" is alright but that's where it stops. According to Jay-Z's old board rules: You have no right to diss Tip. Look in the mirror and ask yourself: How many classic albums have you created? Are you on anyone's top 10 MCs list? Do you have any hardware on your walls, ma? Cliff is right. Keep him out of the girlfight. You're heavy in these tweets, but I hope you're finding time to create music that backs up your buzz. Or you'll soon be begone like Kreayshawn. You young ladies today bore me. *Turns up Mia X CD* No Limit forever!

The best things in life are free, but hopping on Hov's press conference stage uninvited is gon cost cha. Whatcha did was wrong! ⎯B.Dot
idk maybe just me but i felt they dropped the ball if i were directing, that bed scene wouldve been the intro only. not throughout the whole dam video. and the effects were overdone all over the place. director of this video needs to be shot.
This is fucking terrible, and dude has ripped off practically every single mannerism from KanYe West imaginable. I really hate this guy. Not hating on as in jealous, but just hate him as in the mere thought of him or his music makes me angry. What a fucking joke. AUBREY! YOU’RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE!
C’mon Son; the track is kinda middle of the road to begin with, and he even said that this track was a warm up track that now he is leading as his single to a highly anticipated freshman album and he shoots this wack shit to it? I have a feeling he is now that artist who has had so much commercial success before this album that now he wants to be creative and do shit that is out there… problem with this is, in this day and age with the economy; do what is hot and make good music.. save that experimental shit for yourself, starting to think this guy isn’t that sophisticated of a rapper that we all hoped for.
I’ve been a fan of Drake since 2007, so you know I’m checking out everything he makes. This is his official FIRST video for the FIRST single from his FIRST album, so it’s almost like he’s starting over again. I was antsy to see it and also a little afraid that it might be a total failure like the “Best I Ever Had” video. It wasn’t. You can visibly tell he did play it safe, but it was a decent, simple, yet eclectic video.
People will DEFINITELY find things to say about it, because it wasn’t completed complicated and detailed, so those who don’t care for Drake anyways and mindlessly hate regardless will be able to reach and find something bad to say about it. Overall, it was dope to me. Though it was simple, it doesn’t necessarily look like the videos coming out these days. I think the symbolism of the projections of different images on the walls were dope. What I gathered from that is something how I feel just sitting in my room, introspectively thinking about the future.
The video was directed by Anthony Mandler. (Rihanna (“Russian Roulette”), Beyoncé (“Irreplaceable”), Jay-Z (“Run This Town”), and Mary J. Blige, for which he teamed up with the Canadian artist on “The One.”)
You can see a few sentiments of MJB’s “The One” in the video, now that I think about it.
By the way, the girl that favors Keyshia Cole a little bit on her VIBE cover is BEAUTIFUL. Just found out her name is Rita Ora. She’s what it do!
@Mikedreamsmusic Yo Im a huge fan and have followed him throughout his career, and I am a Hip/hop rap artist myself… He could have done way more with that concept visually, looks as if they never finished the story board and used the first and last frame for the whole video and were like fuck it.
Wow…I know this is a forum to give opinions but wow…I am not a Drake fan but even I have to say the criticisms are uncalled for. I mean seriously…what do y’all want? I think the video is cool, in fact this is my first time listening to this song and I made it through because of the video.
cues Hovi “everybody can tell you how to do it, they never did it”
Damn, Drake done fucked up. He really dropped the ball on this one and fell on his fucking face. Not to say that this video is awful but it damn sure ain’t good. The video doesn’t even follow the concept of the song. Due is spitting this lines “I know way to many people here now right now,
That I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are yall? ” standing in an empty room? The Lloyd banks effects on the wall didn’t fit the lyrics. Also the song just isn’t that good. Of you listen to drakes other stuff you notice that his music entices you to rap/sing along with the lyrics. This song doesn’t even make you wanna rhyme along the chorus.
As i am critical myself i mos def don’t think the criticism is unwarranted. This guy has the biggest buzz since 50 and has more crossover potential than anyone out now. The whole HipHop community is watching his every move. He can’t afford to FAIL. Wayne is in jail so he can’t help him out. It’s time for him to stand on his own two foot and the way things are looking right know he’s more like wheel chair Jimmy.
Yeah, this is another wack video. Not as bad as Nicki’s but definitely lame. I think the bar may be set too high for this dude considering he’s a newcomer, but he keeps dropping the ball. First with this song, then with the video. I still think nthat his album will do well and he’ll have other big hits on it, but this is below my expectations.
^^^for real! those are some helluva suspect dances he got going on. he can’t help but look like kanye cuz thats how you move when you’ve never done any physical labor EVER.
Drake writes SUPERB r&b songs but his raps are mediocre and his physical image successfully kills anything good you had to say about him.
what if jimmy jam and terry lewis released a rap album- EXACTLY! bad idea
is this a case of Drake trying to hard or spectators being to hard on this guy? I mean seriously i’m no Drake stan but this is a pretty sick ass video i’m not sure wtf you niggas were expecting or if you weren’t expecting shit just waiting to pounce on the vid as soon as it dropped but this video gets the thumbs up from me…LMAO @ niggas waiting for Drake to drop Thriller or some shit *Tom Jackson Voice* C’MON MANNNNN!! WHY WONT YOU LET THIS NIGGA BE GREAT
Opinion heads on here are giving advice and hazin Anthony Mandler’s directing skills? Ha. Ya’ll are stupid. Now get off the computer and go back and stack those boxes in the aisle number #3.
I swear, ppl r expectin this kid to give u a video/song that would make u bust a nut or smthn, and even then they’d complain they aint cum hard enough (fuck a pause). i’m not even that hardcore of a drake fan, tho i like his music, but i thought the video wus dope. the whole concept of bein stuck in ur thoughts wit so much shit goin on, not knowin who to trust and makin sure u can keep up wit the new lifestyle wus cool, and the visuals were DOPE as hell. y’all need to relax and enjoy the art, this ‘its cool to call anythin mainstream is wack’ shit is weak as hell
@ TRUTH WILL OUT—-JAY Z OBVIOUSLY BITES KANYE’S MANNERISMS, JAY Z IS A FUCKIN LAME……..AND IF U SAYIN THIS SONG AND/OR VIDEO ARE WACK GUESS WAT UR A FUCKIN HATER…..THIS VIDEO IS TIGHT AS FUCK, DIFFERENT, SHOT FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE, AND A NEW AGE VIDEO COMPARED TO WAT HAS BEEN PUT OUT RECENTLY……

Due is spitting this lines “I know way to many people here now right now,
That I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are yall? ” standing in an empty room?
You cant be that dumb to not understand how that line correlates to him standing in an empty room????
You nigga’s hate everything…who cares it’s a bit boring but you guys are over analyzing this kids career. From the very start there was no way he was gonna live up the the Christ like expectations place on him. I think he’s a good artist but he ain’t saving hip-hop.
Only payola will make this #1 record. I guess his buzz helps a lil.
naturally a cool record, but good enough.
the video is quality, budget, but not impressive.
Young Money dropping wack videos. Nicki Manaj vid sucks now this one.
RapRadar? Nah. RapHadar. All yall wanna do is hate. This video is dope! Awkward, for sure, but he didn’t fumble on this one. Better then the Best I Ever Had video. Stop hatin on Drake cuz he’s cocky. Half of you guys are wannabe rappers on here anyway, GTFOH.
You would think with his 1st video, he would realize how important an music video can be. Personally, i enjoyed the first video, but that was a song for the females, but women didnt want to see that. Great Song Terrible video for his image. Now with “Over” Cool song, Boring Azz Video.
Strike TWO. We are riding with you Drake, but damn, you gotta do better. FUCK IT GET HYPE WILLIAMS. Nicki Minaj song suck, but she has a cool video and with that alone that bullshit might start to grow on people.
I agree with the Nicki Minaj comment . I didn’t like the song at all, but the video was certainly superb and caused the song to grow on me.
But I still don’t see the problem with this video. Drake did his thing and the director did his thing. I’m starting to think it didn’t matter WHAT the video was, people were going to hate on it regardless.
It captures … it takes the song to another place,”. “It offers up a whole different look for the song. The song — to a lot of people — is ignorant, it’s club. This video is what I was really thinking about. The song is like a bad dream — but it’s not a bad dream, it’s not a terrible dream. It’s a little evil. The video really reflects that. It’s a struggle between the purities of my past life and what this new life has to offer. Even in the video, you see me looking back and forth between the two and deciding. At the end of the video I don’t necessarily make a decision, but when you get the album, you’ll see what choice I make.”
“Over” is early in the Thank Me Later track list, and is part of a story that’s told through the album.
‘Over’ is a great alter-ego moment. It’s the dark side of things and I really wanted that to come out first.”
@_please and jimi
The fact that you think that line correlates to him standing in an empty room makes me think you’ve been on drake balls to long. He could be standing in a fucking box floating on a river and you’d probaly say the same thing. Please get off his nuts and be real. And no the video doesn’t have to be a visual translation of the lyrics but there should be some kind of relation between the two.
Let say for the sake of argument, him standing in the room is probably Drake being in his own thoughts. Cool. Everything else in the video is totally random. to the chick against the wall shaking her ass, the the kaleidoscope images of himself. The only thing that relates to the song is the chicks leaving while while he is rhyming about it being OVER.
Also the reason why I’m bringing up these point is that if you’ve seen Drake’s other videos you would probably notice that they nicely follow the concept of the song. Video visual are often meant to convey a message. Most of the time it’s the message in the song. This video doesn’t do that at ALL. If you look at all the great hiphop video you will see that the visuals always complemented the lyrics (Best HipHop video ever: Roots – What they do) perfectly and convey a clear message. To me that’s what a video is suppose to do.
It doesn’t matter of you talk about selling drugs, partying, being broke, or doing some gangster shit. And even if an artist chooses to not have his video completely complement the lyrics but chooses to rely on symbolism the video should be nice to look at (Jay-Z- on to next one). This video doesn’t even remotely achieve those goals.
If he came out here flossin chains or cruisin in a lambo with some dumb ego-driven shit, y’all would say he’s wack and big-headed. Instead, he came with a safe, well-directed video with no corny cameos and kinda did his thing. Yet, you’re still sayin he’s wack.
Drake is a problem. The haters fuel his buzz and trust, he’ll do serious numbers first week.
Im a big Drake fan whether he’s rappin and singin, the kid is dope but the video could of been alot better. I just dont want Drake to become like Red Cafe. If yall remember, Red Cafe came out with a hot track, but in the video the nigga was kind of lookin like 50 cent and the people didnt accept that. That was about 7 years ago. Since then he continued making good music, but just recently has he got back in the spotlight.
idk maybe just me but i felt they dropped the ball if i were directing, that bed scene wouldve been the intro only. not throughout the whole dam video. and the effects were overdone all over the place. director of this video needs to be shot.
dropped the ball, fuck was i thinking…he still will get an album download from me but dam come one its over
It is kinda weak..

That look like the same effects 50 used to shoot Banks “On My Way”, but less cheesy.
It’s ok though.

AGREED. That’s my freakin’ quote of the day now.
“Everybody can tell you how to do it, they never did it.” – Jay-Z
for an “actor” he can’t seem 2 get a music vid right
he’s trying 2 be all cool but comes across corny (no homo)

@ ya: absolutely.
I dont understand what was expected?
from ne1else this vid would not draw as much heat. gotta be objective enough to look past hype (at least when there is this much of it)
its a pretty good video! pretty high concept, and good production value, and avoids cliche pretty well.
