On Grind Music Radio last week, Black Milk, Sean C, Riggs Morales, Peter Rosenberg, and Jerry Barrow critiqued VIBE‘s greatest producer of all time bracket. As Jerry indicated, the list was created to spark conversation (which it has). Despite some snubs, the selections overall are on point. But then again, some people are never satisfied.

Once again, why care about who did/didn’t make the list? Some of the people they are naming probably wouldn’t have made it out of the first round. Buckwild is cool, but how far was he really going to go in the voting process?

The only thing you can do is go off fact (number of hits produced, number of classic albums put together, sales etc)…everything else is opinion. He talked about DITC….which I grew up on….but how many people out here truly know about and love and respect DITC?

It’s like when they did the Best Rapper Ever list. There were countless artists on that list that 1) didnt belong 2) beat out people because of the sheer fact that they had a bigger name..but the reality was that if they actually battled the person they were against in real life, they would get their ass chewed out (joe budden vs. rakim)….Budden would eat Rakim for breakfast, lunch and dinner in 2010.

These debates and brackets are dumb as fuck. It’s a given who people are going to vote for. It’s like if we do a greatest basketball player ever list. We already know MJ is going to win it so why get mad that Magic Johnson for example came in at the 32 seed or something. He was going to get voted out at some point anyway. Get my point?

It’s a list and everyone can’t make the list unfortunately and it’s all opinion anyways. To me there is no way in hell Eminem is better than Jay or Nas and we saw how won the tournament the last time Vibe did one of these.

At the eod of the day who is Vibe magazine to make a list like this? This bracket in itself kills their credibility. How in the hell did Bangladesh who has made some bangers but has 1 classic record make a list with the best to ever do it? Same with Polow. I like Polow but his greatest attribute is also the biggest reason why people will forget about him. Hes too transparent

Speaking against Ra in any term or fashion is Blasphemy

And to put your Jordan thing in perspective, Kobe would kill him right now, so that argument goes against what you just said

the vibe bracket, which I broke down on this very site, is all well and good, but if some enterprising young upstart magazine wanted to throw it on its head, they would make a criteria, song, impact and all that, I mean A Milli is crazy and changed a lot of things (100 people going in over 1 beat) but 3 bangers should be the call, and truth is over the last few years, how many people have had three, downright bangers?
