Guru’s family issued this statement today in the wake of their relative’s passing. Yesterday, Solar claimed to have a letter written by Guru from his death bed.

I KNOW HE IS VERY GOOD WITH THE PEN, BUT WRITING LETTERS FROM A COMA IS TALENT.
FUCK THAT SOLAR NIGGA FOR PUTTIN HIS NAME OUT THERE LIKE THAT, MISREPRESENTING GURU. YOU DON’T DO THAT TO A FRIEND NO MATTER WHAT.

Releasing this info doesn’t just satisfy curiosity but it also brings awareness of a condition that affects many people. The family statement is loving, informative and necessary. RIP GURU. You’re royalty!

Ive met KRS, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, and He was definetely on the list of people I wanted to shake hands with as a pioneer in my field and profession, there will never be another Guru or GangStarr…We should all live in his memory and raise greatness in his legend that he left behind.

I knew that other BS letter Solar put out was fake. Why would someone, especially on there deathbed, speak of there former partner for years as there “ex dj” and damn near downplay the whole Gangstarr legacy? I mean Eazy E made ammends with Dre & Cube before he passed, because despite the disses & BS they went through, the made history together. R.I.P. Guru, the Gangstarr legacy will live on.

Guru…your short amount of time with us made a huge impact that i surely wont forget.
I remember listening to you as a kid..and even though i couldn’t relate to everything you spoke on, i still felt that connection any artist dreams to make with another human being. its a powerful gift, so thank you for sharing that with us. hip hop in heaven has another angel. shit, it’s like a super rap group up in the sky now.
Not for 1 minute would I believe that what Solar said is true. How can you erase a legacy of hits with a duo like that as if they never existed?

At the end of your life if you awake before you pass you wanna go to your maker with a clear conscious, heart and mind and ask for forgiveness and forget all earthly things including so called beef.

Solar trying to capitalize off of Guru’s passing by trying to erase the legacy of Premier and Guru and that shit is dead wrong. He wrote that bogus letter to capitalize off of shit and cut primo out of whatever might come out of this but the people know the real deal.

The chain and the star represent hip hop in it’s The chain and the star represents hop hop in it’s purest form. Their art was a gift to this world and when you think of real hip hop if you don’t think of Gangstarr you are blind. Guru is an MC in the real sense. He cared about the content of his lyrics and never said anything simply to sell an album. He is hip hop and I thank him for showing the light.
I hope the truth comes out and SOON.

JUST A THOUGHT – What if Solar DID just follow orders? What if Guru DID pen the letter/s? What if our favourite 90s producer is possibly not a stand-up businessman? What if there’s way more to this mess than what we think is up? Of course, things are looking off-beat, but a lot of our criticisms are based on NOTHING but a love for the music and crew – NO info on the real inside scoop. just sayin’……
RIP Guru, definitely a sad loss – but Solar is acting like a female, and for me, that raises a lot of red flags and other questions in regards to other things we don’t know. Solar got the whole situation looking and sounding like a lost scene from Broke Back Mountain!
