LIKE I SAID ONCE YOU TOUCH THE GRAMMY STAGE YOU HAVE MADE IT BOTTOM LINE

  2. E_ says:

smfh, stop comparing him to 50 cent….lol….dude doesn’t even has “The Game” & “Lloyd Banks” Debut Buzz….and so far he failed to deliver the music, I don’t see him pushing more than 350k 1st week.

  3. Young Sha says:

Let’s be honest, when was the last time a song off a mixtape peaked on the Top

    ^

B.Dot you my man (n/h), but fuck outta here with that bullshit. Best I Ever Had and Successful were hot joints but without the label push they would have never made it on to the billboard.

  4. B.Dot says:

doesnt matter either way , they were off his mixtape.

  5. What I Said says:

    @YOUNG SHA

YOUNG SHA GET 50 CENT DICK I MEAN WORDS OUT OF YOUR MOUTH.HA!

  6. BTK says:

@b.dot. The label made them more than mixtape songs. That shit got as much promo as a normal album

  7. k1ngeljay says:

    @Young Sha, fam, I understand what you’re saying…

…but some stuff sells itself. Regardless… Bottom line, homie resold a free mixtape with half the songs and went gold+, and performed at the Grammys with Eminem.

The fan demand for Drizzy is crazy, especially if you’re in the south where im at….

  8. SargeWP says:

Hell yeah over kinda flopped for a drake single, this is supposed to be the magic negro and he can’t even crack top 10 anymore and it’s only been a year, although i think “find your love” might do well.

I put a stack on it, he won’t crack 300k first week i put him at 180-200k, i bet you niggas thought “so far gone” was his first album, and most people don’t even know the album is called “thank me later” they’ve done a real shitty job promoting it.

  9. SargeWP says:

i give him a year left as soon as wayne falls off, he falls off.

    huh? uh, what songs bro?

@b.dot. The label made them more than mixtape songs. That shit got as much promo as a normal album
    ^
could it have just been that the songs were good? at the time, i believe he was unsigned. unless theres proof that documents otherwise. Until then, i just look it as hearsay

Hell yeah over kinda flopped for a drake single
    ^
    it’s at # 16 on the charts.

  14. mike says:

angel war, no ceilings was hot mixtape

but drake’s so far gone was hotter cuz two singles on Top100 charts

then the EP was in stores and did 200k easily. pretty damn nice for a EP

let we see Thank Me Later ! Album will be Gold for sure. Maybe… Platinium

A lot of revisionist history and flat out delusional hating regarding Drake’s past success and his current success on the charts

    1. Best I Ever Had had taken off, and was a hit record on the Top 100 BEFORE he was signed to any label…i’m not sure why people like to try to rewrite history now…but folks, that bidding war was VERY REAL…the So Far Gone buzz before he ended up signing his deal was VERY REAL…it’s a reason why guys like J. Cole have 360 rape deals while Drake was able to negoitiate a far more favorable one…the leverage was VERY REAL…like it or not, the kid changed the game…Best I Ever Had blew up without a label…and it’s something that we’ll see more in the future…Banks is currently doing similar things with Beamer, Benz or Bently climbing the charts while Banks is unsigned (though it’s somewhat different because he was a previously known artist)

    2. People that try to pretend that somehow Over, an album cycle warm-up/street record that’s currently #16 on the Top 100 and rising is in anyway a “flop” are either completely ignorant to the business….or are flat out deluding themselves to reality for the purposes of internet hating….this kid’s team should get way more props for handling all of this the way they have

  16. wow says:

Oh man this jewish racist shit! Did Lenny Kravits also just made it cause he´s half jewish? wtf.

Every couple of years a total eclipse comes around and it´s very rare!
DRAKE is the one of the new decade!
Ya´ll haters better swallow that pill and get on track or get left behind and be the next oldschool grandpa on the poarch hating on the youth!

    I. REST. MY. CASE.

  18. deuce deuce says:

when I think “raising the bar” I think Lupe and “Enemy of the State”….the industry tryna shove Drake down our throats (no homo) and I aint feeling it…wonder if YN will put him in the BLACKOUT section for the mediocrity that is “Over” and “Find your love”

Billboard said the song never charted…..”single” hasnt even charted.

“the industry tryna shove Drake down our throats (no homo) and I aint feeling it”

    ^^^

Now that’s the absolute truth. The industry is just investing, trying to bring hip hop to the forefront again. Let it grow organically if it happens so be it.

  23. SargeWP says:

ok you’re right only made bubbling UNDER the hot 100 at #111 lmao, and single is getting released as a single so it might chart but i doubt it it’s months old.

#16 for a Drake single is a flop, that shit had a video, mad radio play, hype through the fucking roof, it should be a number #1, he was on the fucking grammy’s, had a sprite commercial!!!!

he’s getting beat by a fucking simp ass nigga singing about his bitch (well drake is a simp to lmao) and a bitch who’s album and tour flopped? (Rhianna, and yes while she sold out MSG everywhere else was less than 20-30% filled).

  24. You can’t compare today, to 5 -10 years ago…….fuck your commentary on shit is dumb as fuck, when 50 was big when he came out, mixtapes WERE NOT WHAT THEY ARE TODAY! When 50 came out, you dropped some verses on an old ass beat or put out songs on your tape that didnt make the album, well the mixtape game has stepped it up…….that’s the difference.

Drake & 50 Cent are two completely different artists, make different music, come from diff backgrounds & came up a different way….lol..

how do ya’ll even have readers anymore on here?

  25. SargeWP says:

Lloyd Banks practically has no label, G-unit just has Really strong connections, like drake who probably did ghost write for weezy.

  26. PS let me add…..the re released the mixtape as retail….lol….so what the fuck do you expect? the dude was on a very popular childrens show…..lol…he already had fans based off that shit.

  27. SargeWP says:

oh yeah i forgot about Degrassi, he was on there rapping in shit in a wheel chair, after he got shot the fuck up lol.

  28. SargeWP says:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6z_K4h9x1rQ Proof. can’t find the episode though, track is kind hot lmao

  29. SargeWP says:

Found it lmao http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRYp6eJ_wVY&feature=related, nigga rolls up in some spinners for real lmao

  30. herbsaac says:

    @B dot.. Single?

  31. herbsaac says:

@b dot just read the follow up post. oh but they were also free albums.. so far gone was in stores..

  32. B.Dot says:

    ^
    1. Single hasnn”t charted. “50 Cent is the future” was repackaged in stores too. so what? So was 50’s joint on Full Clip.

  33. SargeWP says:

actually 6 of 50’s tapes were repacked

    50 Cent is the Future
    God’s Plan
    Power of The Dollar Ep
    24 shots
    Guess Who’s Back
And i think No Mercy No Fear but idk,

plus whoo kid some how get mixtapes on itunes, how is that even legal?

  34. chitlin coon says:

thank you b dot for putting these g unit clowns in their place!

  35. Just Accept It says:

haters are funny and sad at the same time. why dont you start your own blogs? drake is a problem. not because of wayne. not because of degrassi. but because that nigga has what the rest of you dont: talent. he’s not going anywhere for a long time so stop complaining and go cop that album in june15. and i’m sure b.dot knows 50 and drake are completely different artists. thats why he made a comparison.

  36. Truth will out says:

Yes. The industry and Rap Radar are trying to shove Drake down our throatts and I don’t like it either. But I like Drake’s music alot (him, not so much). Now J Cole? Get the fuck outta here…ha Hopelessly average. And I mean hopeless! Shame on Rap Radar for shoving this average kid down our throats. The brick that Cole is gonna catch will shatter Rap Radar’s credibiliy…and make em look stupid. Trust, ya’ll need to start moonwalking now.

    –Truth Will Out

  37. Tiny Tim says:

Drake has 8 top 40 hits in less than a year, 5 being top 10 hits, he’ll be okay lol.

With that said I’m not sure what a huge first week success is anymore.

B.O.B. has two songs in the top 10 (including the #1) and high projections for his first week album sales are 85k.

I still think the album will do 3-500k but the timing of the project along with the huge metabolism of the sales market (things have changed drastically even since Carter III) I think that should be considred a huge success.

Hip-Hop need fresh faces to sell records in order to hold its share in the marketplace.

If Drake does incredibly well it’ll only help the newer cats.

  38. herbsaac says:

Also.. What about “ill do anything” Not on the charts ever? and War Angel LP > So far gone.. and prolly thank me later haha just my opinion

  39. ACE says:

Mannn Drake’s most recent single sounds like Kanye WEST (I know KW produced it, But he didn’t have to sound like him too)!!!!! can you people hear ???????
There are mad new artist out there that are dope….. When we only focus on one we all lose…
Big had Jay and Nas, They pushed each other which made for great music….. that’s what the game needs… more Comp..
Drake Needs someone to check mate him and that someone is out there, BUT the industry’s new “platform” is to only deal with one artist at a time which makes music look and sound “Mechanical”
We need music to build more organically if the industry will ever make a come back…
The competition will make DRAKE a better Artist. if we all give him free reign we are doing him and ourselves a disservices… If Drake is Great PROVE it..
the People “need something realer” if it’s him then wonderful, if not let’s keep it movin…
All I know is if you all are so hung up on records sold Then you all should be riding AKONS Dick
his songs Chart #1 GLOBALLY ….. Plus he has the number one artist in THE WORLD signed to his label LADY GA GA…. I’m just sayin… !!!! Stop DICK riding and make people accountable.. PEACE!

  40. Brummagen says:

Seriously, rapradar why do you guys keep on trying to shove Drake down our throats. Yeah he’s decent and all, but I feel like so many people, especially those MTV clowns are really over-pushing him.

When I go on nahright.com, he NEVER has as many posts or even comments on posts as he does on this site, kinda suspicious if you ask me.

  41. i love the way people are so quick to shit on drake, over was a bad single, how? dope beat he killed it and flipped the dead prez shit, that was fucking left field. what was so bad about his video? what there wasnt enuf video hoes or champagne bottles of fake money being thrown around for you? i liked the video alot thought it was different and thats a good thing why do the same shit as the next man?
people still bitching about “find your love” saying why did he do a kanye type song…haha really? did you people actually listen to so far gone? he did like 2-3 ye tracks.

everybody wants him to conform to what they want him to be, a rapper or a singer…he’s doing him and thats whats up. hes not trying to be like anyone else. why not be happy for the kid making good music? its not like hes soldier boy, saying nas killed hiphop haha

  42. ACE says:

thing is if Drake Was doing Drake we would not be having this debate…..
I think it’s Drake that does not know what he wants to be. just because it’s New does not mean it’s good. Drake just needs to develop on his own… I remember Jay-z first Concert , he was Trash!!!
but he was allowed to grow… I think we all want Drake to win, but in a natural progression…
The Radio programmers are pushing him too hard I think, and it’s not for Drakes benefit at all.
They are struggling to top ratings and DRAKE is being used by them.. You can’t push a baby out there and say now RUN!!! damnit let it crawl first. If Drake can’t match the hype then he will flop..
When you say change the game, we must be careful? what has he changed? Kanye with Jesus walks, now THAT’s changing the game.. OutCast now that’s changing the Game. Black Eye Peas Changed the game, the Roots Changed the game……….. DRAKE has not matched anyone of those Artist or Group yet ( I hope he does but he hasn’t yet) !!!! the only thing he did differently was appear on a TV show, now if you want to say that then yes he changed the game, ……but wait Mos Def was on a TV show too… damn I gotta keep searchin on how this dude changed the game…… I’ll be back… And get off of the Mixtape charting billboards BS… Hey, he milked the internet with his fan base form the MTV show… Now I like his hustle but if not for the show, there would be less hype.
But people will just call Facts HATE…. PEACE..

  43. mac DIESEL says:

    @ ACE

COSIGN!!!! PERSONALLY, I THINK HE CONFUSED N IS TRYIN’ TO FIGURE OUT WHO HE IS AS AN ARTIST!!!! ONE DAY HE LIL WAYNE THEN HE KANYE!!!! THEN HE JAY THEN NAS!!!! HE TRYIN’ TO APPEAL TO EVERYBODY SO HIS MUSIC TO ME SOUNDS PROCESSED AND FORCED AND NOT NATURAL OR AUTHENTIC!!!! TO ME, HE’S A COOKIE CUTTER INDUSTRY IMPLANT!!!! AT LEAST FOR NOW!!!! ONE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  44. Kese Soprano says:

people just like to hate on drake cuz of where he’s goin.. we all know what he’s done and what he’s going to do. leave it at, he’s successful. he’s making music, better then any of us could make so shut the fuck up

  46. mistah_zee says:

^^^ I agree i with this 100%. I think Drake is talented as a motherfucker and I will in all likelihood buy his album the day it drops. He’s talented as hell, has put out a lot of good shit, can rap his ass off when he wants to, and just knows how to make good music. I like and support Drake, have heard just about everything he’s recorded but J Cole is significantly better then Drake. I’m fans of both though. Fuck the haters.

  48. Markoni says:

Drake’s a a mediocre dude, face it. He’s got a huge buzz, he WILL EASILY sell a mill in about two to three weeks and radio will play him to the ground. But still that doesn’t change the FACT that he hasn’t SET OR RAISED any bar. The last man to raise a bar/make a historical impact on the game, hate it or love it, was 50 Cent.

Drake is a product, polished till perfection, but the kind of perfection that suits the target audience and in his case it’s them teenage girls. He has not and will not EVER challenge the RAP GAME with his flow, lyrics or in any other way. He’s a mediocre product wrapped in a shiny package to be sold out once and then discontinued as the next product in the series is launched.

  49. ACE says:

    ^
    Markoni I agree 100%
But he doesn’t have to be…. The industry needs to let him breathe then he will be a beast…
right now he’s not there yet.. but they want him to fiil big boy shoes….
Like I said.. when Jay came out his flow was sick but he did not know how to move the crowd…
That took TIME to develop.. Plus he had others like Nas and Biggie to push him.. They experimented with style and delivery until they created perfection in their OWN lane.. I’m MAD someone in His Camp didn’t tell him not to put out that Kanye Style Song… Then he has the nerve to call it different?????? Bro the song could have been on 808 and heartbreaks and we would not have known the difference… And People Stop with the “this is Hate” BS…. Facts are Facts…. He will be good but he’s not ready yet… Just like Jay couldn’t take the crown until Big was out of the pic (RIP) This Game is about development.. Hype only last but soooooo long in this game.. Drake is being used right now by Program directors and he doesn’t even know it…. “Rap Mags try to use my black ass to get more cash for ADs.” Well it’s the same for DRAKE he is over exposed because Advertisers only write that check when they see his name on a playlist…
to be the best you need “TIME” to take out those that are already great.. I’m not sure if he has done that yet….

  50. Markoni says:

You are on point too. The only difference in our opinions is that you think he will get better with time. I just can’t see it happening, probably because of what I want from an entertainer and that is a solid subject matter. I wan the artist to have that ”x factor” or whatever it is that makes him stand out and I just don’t see that in drake, even when I try to look past his music.
I admit I haven’t heard all of his songs but from what I have heard so far, I see no new ideas coming from him. He’s stuck in these love songs and ”look I made it” songs. An artist cannot progress unless they decide to challenge the game and write some new rules. And in rap game the last album I remember really displaying new ideas was Eminem’s first CD. Songs like ”Stan” or ”Kim” redefined what a rapper cad do on a track.
Drake just seems like the next thing after chris brown. [he also had a lot of buzz and promotion some years ago and look at him now, begging djs to play him and without a song on the charts] To me he just seems like someone who’s in the game to get the money and his 5 minutes of fame. Though I may be wrong.
