Olivia Still Upset With Drake

Oy vey. Olivia tells MTV that she thought Drake’s reaction to her record, “Control” was corny. In April, the singer recorded a song featuring his vocals. In turn, Drizzy told Allhiphop:

“I support artist collaborations and sampling music that inspires you but I don’t support taking unauthorized recordings and marketing them as features. I’ve never worked with Olivia and I apologize to any fan who was duped into thinking that ‘Control’ was a collaboration of mine.”

Here’s my two cents. If the record was solely used for a mixtape, what’s the big deal? Artists hop on other people’s tracks all the time. Hell, Jim Jones has made a living off it. Next time Olivia, don’t ask permission; just ask forgiveness.

  1. Can says:

He says it right there, he supports sampling music but not taking a recording a marketing as a feature. They’re not the same thing. Olivia did the latter, which is leading fans to make a false assumption in attempt to capitalize off the name of the hottest rapper in the game right now. -That- shit is corny.

  2. S_Dogg says:

    @Can

True ‘dat man, she knew that her mixtape would get more hype if she had Drizzy as a featured artist on it, she knew EXACTLY what she was doin’ and that shit right there isn’t right.

  3. CP3 says:

F*ck corny ass Drake. Who gives a damn! It’s a mixtape. Drake has down syndrome.

  4. The Truth says:

Drake is overrated anyway. I do not get the big hype over Drake. Everyone makes him out to be the next BIG. Drake is OVERRATED!

  5. la_angel_23 says:

    Co-signature
Drake has been overrated from the get go…

  6. Stay Fly says:

Drake is overated because of haters like you giving him extra buzz by hating. Pop off niggas and go listen to your waka flaka. People said Nas was overated too and Biggie. GTFOH!

  7. HipHopObama says:

Heres my 2 cents….never post Olivia. I get it tho, Aubrey Graham is involved so maybe people will check it out. But c’mon son….Olivia? Word?

  8. HawthorneFinest says:

Olivia got my vote on this one..
Yeah, Yeah…she is played out, and haven’t heard her new music…but she got a point.
Fuck Drake, and all the new rappers!!!
June gonna bring back the REAL shit!!

  9. Ty says:

Whether Drake is overrated or not is irrelevant. He has his debut album dropping in a month. You don’t pay a team of consultants to strategize which features to do or not do and what singles to drop or not drop just to have Olivia dropping a joint out the blue with your voice on it that the public has never heard. To jack the beat of an already released joint is different. The public would have thought it was a feature and I don’t blame him for saying it wasn’t.

By the way did he send her a cease and desist letter? Did he say don’t use it? If not I’m wondering why she’s mad. He just told the world the truth. Did she want him to keep her secret with no sign off and no pay? She “heard” he was paid …… LOL … leeches these days SMH.

  10. The Illest says:

    Is this bitch serious?

  11. Bloopers says:

    Lmfao B Dot
you a fool for that last sentence

  12. lol at olivia says:

lol at olivia she wack nobodys want to ear your music so you stealing drake verses for buzz just give it up

  13. KingP says:

No entity can be a rap authority without a solid album rating system, it’s that simple.

  14. B.Dot says:

Drake wasn’t authorize to be on ‘Unstoppable’ was he? I’m just sayin.

  15. Ac@pella! says:

She ain’t been hot since 2001…Leave it alone Olivia..

  16. flawda says:

mixtapes are about rapping on other peoples beats, not taking unreleased songs and tryna pass it off as a collabo. She is lucky she never got sued!

  17. RapMusic23 says:

i dont care about none of them, but what she did was wrong. You cant just take something, put it on your mixtape and make it out to look like you have a collab with someone. But as i said, dont care for none of them.drake is as soft as a marshmallow and olivia is a nobody in the music world

  18. flawda says:

Game tried to do the same thing with that Jay-z verse, and Jay had to get at him on the Hot 97 freestyle.

  19. john macabee says:

It should have been handled by management, now It just makes Drake look like a bitch

  20. Nathaniel says:

drake was just mad it was olivia.

if it had been jay-z he woulda been “gee-golly-gosh’n” about how honored he was. politics as usual.

  21. will says:

    team olivia

this nigga was paid for a mixtape song some shit you get for free(legally) and he wanna cry shit was corny of him to write a letter

and to all you who say she was wrong If I was Olivia I would release the shit as a single becuz she legally has the right and he can write them punk ass letters all he want but he cant do shit about it

like dont you think he would have his lawyer involved if the shit wasnt authorized same thing with The Kia Shine business

I mean its easy for a nigga to say something is not authorized then it really not be authorized

real talk Olivia should release this shit as a single becuz at the end of the day dude would get royalties off the song and he got paid it wouldnt be able to do anything about it

  22. Toya says:

I could understand the animosity if the song were on a studio album but it’s on a mixtape. That’s pretty much someone fucking around in a back room somewhere. Save the feuding for a track that really matters. On a side note…

Exactly how many bridges does Olivia want to burn with the hip-hop world? First 50 then Drake.

  23. will says:

    and@YN and everybody else

Yall should remember songs Like Magic Sticc where kim used 50 cent buzz and a song with his vocals when 50 thought the song was going to be for Trina and How Polow led fergie believe that Party People song was going to be for Trina when he gave the song to Nelly(Man Trina Missed out on alot of Money) either way it go Real Niggas dont write letter we react whether its call the police call the lawyer or call yo sister to beat the bitch ass Real Men dont write letters Females do that shit I mean what is the point of writing the letter when she can still release the song To Me its Funny its like a Nigga on the side talking shit but not moving on anything only thing the letter represent is his dislike

  24. will says:

at the end of the day all you Drake Diccriders need to look at like this this nigga got paid for a song that is not going to pull in any money and he complaining C’Mon Son

I mean Beyonce and Ciara didnt sue wayne when he used they vocals or what about Cam using that Old song he did with Destiny’S Child on his mixtape they was suing or the 50 Cent Destiny Child Song You get Paid for something you shut the fucc up end of story

  25. will says:

    @rap23

so Santogold shouldve sued Drake becuz he or wayne was suppose to be on unstoppable Cant believe some of yall I think Mixtapes are fair game becuz niggas take other niggas bars all the time but for some reason when a singer does it its fucced up

If It was a rapper it would be cool but since its a singer who is olivia its fucced up Man C’mon Son

really this nigga is crying over a Mixtape Song

  26. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Olivia

YA CAREER WAS OVER BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED!!!! A DESPERATE BLATANT LAME ATTEMPT TO USE A RAPPER WHO’S HOT AT THE MOMENT TO GET YA NAME OUT!!!! I DON’T KNOW WHY U CAN’T JUST REALIZE THAT U A JUMP-OFF CHICK!!!! U COULDA BEEN SUCKIN’ OFF G-UNIT N STILL BE GETTIN’ PAID!!!! BUT NO, U THOUGHT U HAD A CHANCE TO HAVE A MUSIC CAREER!!!! JOKE’S ON U DUMMY!!!! HA!!!! STAY UP!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  27. dashing says:

    @ TY, I agree completely.

@B.Dot, there is an important distinction between rapping over an already released Santogold track and putting it on a mixtape because Drake is essentially just rapping over someone else’s record. Nothing wrong with that. (Jim Jones, Cory Gunz, Royce do it all the time)

However, taking someone else’s UNRELEASED vocals though and crafting a new beat and song for it and calling it a feature is a very different thing. That is willful deception, knowing that everyone will think that it’s a brand new song.

In other words, it would be different if Oliva sang over “Successful” and put it on her mixtape.

  28. Had2DoIt says:

she still a cutie…i obviously dont give a fuck what she’s talking about

  29. King JuggaNott says:

This needs to happen. Cats are getting wreckless with the mixtape shit. It’s not what it used to be…mixtapes are put together like albums and marketed and all. C’mon…somebody is going to have to step in. Everyone out there stepping on each others dicks…that’s one reason one cant get much further than the other. Stop hopping on the next mans dick so fast…..get your own shit.

  30. Ty says:

    @ King JuggaNott

    Amen and well said!

Didn’t Drake just SELL several hundred thousand copies of and get a Grammy for a “mixtape”? They’re practically albums now. All business should be handled as such. Who knows if she had even tried to be respectful enough to reach out to dude, he might have given her his blessing or maybe even a new and current verse.

  31. CaniBlog? says:

B.Dot honestly your 2 cents weren’t needed homie.

and why the fuck do yall love to hate on drake so much?

I’ll never understand hating over the internet.

either yall are just playing or yall some insecure muthafuckas what it is it?

  32. will says:

    @dashing

nobody reconstructed anything You should get teh caption from the producers where he states that his verse was paid for in 2007 Olivia didnt do anything but

    and@Ty

at the end of the day its not like an album becuz they arent recieving money from that shit they doing promotion but thats coming out of they poccet and thats certain Artist Wayne dont have all that promotion shit and Neither Do Banks or 50 all the Videos for Mixtape Songs only certain artist do that but a Mixtape is nothing like an album becuz there is no profits Just Like how bow wow said his shit got downloaded 2 million times in 4 days its possible becuz he has sold 3 million before and the shit that was downloaded not only was it free but it was promoted by the artist of where to get the free material

An Album is completely different from a Mixtape there is no Parental Advisory hell there is only a certain amount of Disc nobody is going on 106 and going on the radio Promoting No Ceilings or War Angel becuz they aint getting money for that shit WTF

  33. will says:

Bra real talk any man taking drake side gotta be Homo Im sorry but Niggas take RnB Bitches Vocals all the time and put that shit on they mixtapes without permission and you mean to tell me its not right if she takes a rapper rapping and put that shit on a beat

Niggas not hating but keeping it real the shit he did was some succer shit if you wanna move then move Nigga What Real Nigga Writes a Letter if it was me and I didnt like I wouldve tried to Sue the Bitch not write a fuccing Letter honestly thats like Gossiping about somebody he dont even address the bitch he just writes a letter about it Come the fucc on

  34. majest says:

    ya some stupid mofaks.lol..

  35. Mike B says:

If he didnt want a non pre-authorized track with someone, why give just one verse or 2 or w.e to a producer and give him the rights to it…wtf did u think was gonna happen with it?? someone had to go on that shit

  36. gangsr says:

olivia is a desperate ugly man

  37. will says:

Real talk what if Nas not giving Jay the cosign for sampling his voice halted Dead Presidents shit like this happen all the time but when the artist comlains its over monetary reasons meaning that its going to turn a profit off of sales but this is some shit thats going to be free and distributed thru her twitter page

  38. King JuggaNott says:

@ Will…just because YOU get it free does not mean that they are NOT getting money from mixtapes. Anytime people play mixtapes joints on the radio you think they are NOT getting money from that?

All they have to do is get the shit copywritten and they can give the shit away if they want too. The STREET make it hot, then if the Radio wants to play that mixtape song (if it’s an original song) they will have to pay ascap for that ish. Best I Ever had came off of what? A Mixtape right? I mean Kia Shine even got a freaking award for splits on that song. C’mon be serious.

As if he’s not touring off of mixtape shit….it aint like he’s performing much off of his album. The Mixtape shit has changed. I mean…that’s my opinion on it. Pretty soon artists are going to take a stand on people using their shit on the mixtape circuit…most of the people who do it are bums…so nobody really cares, but as soon as someone blows off of mixtapes a la Drama and Cannon….they will act on it.

  39. will says:

    @King Jugganot

Kia Shine got his cut when they made it a single the song that olivia got was leaked so it wasnt even decided if his verse was to stay or not or if the song was going to be on the tape I can understand Leaking a Single but nobody is going to leak one mixtape song

When mixtape songs get played on the radio thats when niggas turn that shit into a single

She was distributing that shit thru her twitter for free Best Ive Ever had and Burrprint 3 is on itunes

like if she put the song on itunes ok but a song leaked and she doesnt even promote it and she wrong for what?

Like she was on twitter posting “somebody in my camp getting fired by this leak” she wasnt posting “Checc me out with this song with Drake” she never promoted or marketed the song as a single

like if she wouldve been around promoting and shouting about the record and put the shit on itunes then yea she wouldve been dirty but also its her right becuz she paid the prodcuer is owns the rights to the song who paid Drake for his services it wasnt even an official drake song it was a throwaway tracc from another singer so Drake shouldnt be complaining

all the nigga drake contributed to the record was his verse he got paid for it and thats should be it

I mean he’s touring off his mixtape shit but that has nothing to do with the profits from the actual sales he can perform Thriller and make money off of a tour if you get me doing a show has nothing to do with the profits of sales

when you put that shit on itunes and you have a cover for your mixtape song that shit is officially a single

like I said how would he feel if santogold was to say him keeping her Unstoppable vocals was unauthorized
