Seem as if Uncle Luke isn’t the only that has a bone to pick with VH1. Suave House Records fonder, Tony Draper tells XXL that he feels disrespected for being snubbed at this year’s upcoming Hip Hop Honors ceremony.
…For you not to recognize Tony Draper, it’s a real slap in the face. It’s a real slap in the face. And when you go to these ghettos in Atlanta, these ghettos in Memphis, these ghettos in Houston, these ghettos in Dallas, these ghettos in Louisiana, and you in Birmingham, and you ask them who you grew up listening to, most of them will say Suave House.

Suave House hasn’t done anything relevant since the 8Ball & MJG/Tela days. Influential? Sorta but most of that respect will go to Rap-A-Lot/Swishahouse/SUC before anything else.
I feel him, but I think Suave House was more influential on a local level tho.That label never really had a “breakout” moment like Cash Money, No Limit, Rap A Lot or Swishahouse did were everyone was checking for anything from that label. I don’t even remember who was signed to them outside of Tela & Ball & G.

I see what yall sayin but i have to respectfully disagree…..I think they should have some mention of Suave House, even if it was just Ball&G that’s enough right there. They are one of the Top duos out there along with Outkast and UGK. They deserve the respect, matter of fact i was just bumpin that 1st Tela the other day and that shit still go hard!

If you remember Crime Boss,Psychodrama out the Chi,big mike,South Circle,they were all signed to Suave House. Not major artists but they were good. Jazze pha also did beats for em.
even tho it was just ball & mjg those dudes influence runs strong still with southern rappers, and yes even three 6 should get some recognition, but they are fuckin this off they pissed off luke already. shit even dj magic mike deserves some shine for his major influence on the miami bass, not the booty party shit like 2 live but that bottom drop that they use for comptitions.

Ummmmm, 8Ball & MGBG alone are enough to give Suave House some shine at these awards. I remember being in 9th grade and having the artwork for Sitting on Top Of The World in my locker, and I lived in MD. That was my first exposure to southern rap. Do the math folks.

Listen just for the record not all infulential Hip Hoppers are from NY are and were repped. There should be some criteria and if you went outside a small portion of the country they have not made a significant impact on hip hop..
