  2. Action Jackson says:

    And this is news because?

New York Rappers are old and tired. I’m a Native New Yorker and iIhave no problem saying that Hip Hop doesn’t live here anymore.

NYC is a relic of what rap was and in my opinion should be.

  3. Devsky says:

ugh it is your opinion so I am not the one to judge but im proud of sheek… the most overlooked in the group but makes the most bread without a doubt… keep grinding YO

  4. pr0blemchild23 says:

AS LONG AS SHEEK HAS GOOD PRODUCTION HE CAN’t FAIL

  5. agreed… good production as well as a great flowing body of work ( lord knows we hate albums that sound like compliations) Sheek Louchiano is in good hands…..i hope. now can we get the Ghost some papers?

  6. doughboi773 says:

another fail for the house russ built…..smh

  7. Ac@pella! says:

Congrats to Sheek, but Def Jam ain’t what it used to be. No disrespect to Sheek at all, but Def Jam will sign anybody. Kinda depreciates the value of the label now…smh…

  8. VerseCutta says:

    yea,congrats to sheek

  9. Lattimore says:

Def Jam was gay when Jay was there, I kinda lik ethe idea of Sheek Louch and Big Boi being signed instead of teen r&b singers and southern rappers

  10. pissed says:

hopefully it all works for him we know Def Jam is a graveyard for rappers unless your Kanye.

  11. King JuggaNott says:

THIS is what you niggas like? Bwahahahahhahhahahhaha! This nigga hasn’t had a relevant record OUTSIDE of New York since he was with the Lox. Even then he was 3rd best….always. Wow…Ha!

  12. Post no billz says:

This is odd.. Sheek louch is the weakest link out the group.. Maybe def jam plans on signing the lox.. I know numbers dont really matter.. But sheek has been brickin for years already.. Back 2 back bricking..

  13. […] Wow, this is quite a surprise. A couple of hours ago, the well renowned DJ Big Mike tweeted that Sheek Louch had signed a deal with Def Jam. Shortly after his announcement, Sheek took to his Twitter to confirm the news. He now joins his LOX partner Jadakiss on the label. Heads up RR. […]

  14. hip hop says:

clap 4 him. atta boy sheek! do work D_BLOCK

  15. devante says:

fail for def jam, sheek isnt gonna move units

  16. Shawn says:

I guess that Indy paper wasn’t as real as people say… More power to Sheek. Get all the bread you can.
But I really don’t understand a artist like Sheek, who’s been around this business a long time, still signing to majors… If thier goal was to be there own boss and control the paper…
And I don’t want to her after the first release “Nah son. The promotions wasn’t really right and they wasn’t focusing on my project”.. That excuse is lame

  17. B.Dot says:

“Nah son. The promotions wasn’t really right and they wasn’t focusing on my project”.

    very.

  18. mac DIESEL says:

I REMEMBER BACK IN THE DAY GETTIN’ A RECORD DEAL WAS DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE N WAS A BIG DEAL TO GET ONE!!!! BUT WIT ALL THESE WACK ARTISTS WIT THEIR BULLSHIT MUSIC SIGNIN’ TO THESE MUSIC LABELS IT’S REALLY NOT A BIG DEAL!!!! N DEF JAM IS WACK WHEN IT COMES TO HIP-HOP!!!! WIT RIHANNA N NE-YO, DEF JAM WILL BE FOCUSIN’ THEIR MONEY N TIME ON THEM N NOT ON SHEEK LOOCH!!!! MAYBE HE N JADA SEE SOMETHIN’ AT DEF JAM THAT WE DON’T!!!! BUT GOOD LUCK SHEEK!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

greenghost in feb. champishere3 in may! next up:Jada Album, Sheek Album, and then LOX album = D-BLOCK all classics

  20. Ty says:

Hip hop needs to come on and take that full step into the new. Some veteran artists and labels have earned a platform in today’s music landscape, but lately either labels or artists seem like they’re stuck in the 90’s with the dated choices they’re making.

Examples: Red Cafe signing to Bad Boy, Def Jam signing Sheek and Shyne, Dame and Currensy both stuck in the 90’s and what the Roc used be, Buss titling his new album ELE 2, the list goes on and on. There is hope with artists like Jay Elect and J Cole getting shine for real talent, but not enough new talent is getting discovered. The labels would rather sign a washed up Shyne or Sheek than give a new MC a chance….. unless he’s from whatever region is hot at the time. Except for a few iconic pieces that deserve to live, let the 90’s die already.

  21. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Ty

THR PROBLEM IS THESE RECORD LABELS AIN’T SIGNIN’ A NEW ARTIST WHO ACTUALLY HAS TALENT WIT POTENTIAL TO GROW N HAVIN’ THAT LONGEVITY!!!! THEY RATHER SIGN A GIMMICK N GET THAT QUICK CASH OR GET AN ESTABLISHED ARTIST WHO’S BEEN IN THE GAME FOR A MINUTE N GET THAT AUTOMATIC CASH!!!! SHEEK AIN’T GONNA SELL MAJOR RECORDS BUT THEY KNOW HE’S GONNA GENERATE SOME INCOME FROM SHOWS N DECENT RECORD SALES!!!! RECORD LABELS ARE TOO AFRAID TO TAKE A CHANCE ON NEW TALENT THAT ISN’T A GIMMICK!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  22. Ty says:

    @ mac DIESEL

Big Cosign on that. The artists would rather resuscitate a dead label (Bad Boy, Rocafella) than help build something new, and the labels would rather dust off an old B list artist than gamble on something new and fresh. The exception is of course like you said, the gimmick artists.

Since the entire industry rides the coattails and copies whatever is hot, maybe dudes like Jay Electronica and J Cole can move some real units and get major buzz and maybe signing dudes with real talent will become the new fad. We can only hope cause the game is more watered down than the free liquor in Vegas casinos.

  23. Shawn says:

Cosign Mac and TY..And Sheek’s had about 13yrs to make it happen. Time to put the rookie in and see what they can do

  24. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Ty @ Shawn

WE NEED SOME NEW RECORD LABELS OR SOME NEW LABEL EXECS IN THESE OLD RECORD LABELS TO TAKE A CHANCE ON NEW ARTISTS THAT ISN’T A GIMMICK!!!! IT’S LIKE NOBODY HAS THE BALLS TO TAKE A CHANCE!!!! THEY RATHER JUST SIGN A GIMMICK OR PLAY IT SAFE SIGNIN’ AN ARTIST WHO’S ALREADY BEEN IN THE GAME!!!! THAT’S WHY I PRAISE JAY FOR TAKIN’ A CHANCE ON J.COLE OR ANY LABEL TAKIN’ A CHANCE ON ACTUAL TALENT!!!! WE NEED MORE OF THAT!!!! ONE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  25. Uptown Hip Hop Head says:

no hate towards sheek but didn’t he said u was too nice for def jam on thatsong get that paper off the no security album….just saying

  26. So Icy Boi! says:

@mac DIESEL you need some pussy nigga!! > Pussy nigga

  27. mac DIESEL says:

    @ So Icy Boi!

FUCK OUTTA HERE YA OLD BITTER GROUPIE!!!! HA!!!! NIGGA U KNOW U AIN’T GETTIN’ NO PUSSY LISTENIN’ TO GUCCI N WACKA!!!! YA BUTTER CHURNIN’ COUNTRY BACKWOOD COON ASS JIGABOO APE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  28. Don says:

Yo Action Jackson! Stop falling for the divide & conquer B.S.! This deal ain’t got spit to do with what U sayin’ yo! mac D & Ty see the movement. Labels ain’t gonna waste paper building talent, they want someone with a built in fanbase or a gimmicky one hit wonder to get paper off of.

Congrats Sheek! New ni@@az recognize what U gotta deal with, don’t hate on the OG’s because the execs don’t wanna f^ck with U’s.

  29. Shawn says:

@ Don “Labels ain’t gonna waste paper building talent, they want someone with a built in fanbase or a gimmicky one hit wonder to get paper off of.”
Sheek is niether of those type artist. And I don’t think anyone’s “hatin”. Diagreeing with somthing doesn’t mean Dudes don’t respect and like Sheek.
