Last October, David Banner said he was releasing his collaborative album, Death Of A Popstar with 9th Wonder for free. But today on The Morning After with Angela Yee, he explained why he had a change of heart.
Its not all the consumers fault
Artist need to put out better records then music lover will buy your shit regardless
Just cuz you and your handlers thinks its hot doesnt mean that it is
If I hear something dope i will go out and support and plenty other folks will also
Stop acting like everything coming out is golden cuz it aint
That CB album was ass so naming him was stupid
unless folks start putting out better quality then artist are gonna keep coming up short on their return

Bootleggin isnt ALWAYS the reason why shit aint selling
Hell some folks album dont even get bootlegged cuz the shit is lame

I agree with everything he said, people sit there and bitch about they want better music and be the same one bootlegging and dowloading artist music. See Distant Relatives, Revolutions Per Minute,etc. What do you consumers and blog sites think, that these artist don’t have to pay for studio time and other expenses. I just think fans think music is disposable nowadays and don’t have to pay for music, if the music is good then pay for it. If the good artist don’t get support, a record label is not gonna pick up their contract or give them an advance to make another record.

Man this guy is telling the truth. Music is so damn disposable it’s not even funny. Bootlegging isn’t always the reason, but I’d say it’s the majority.

David Banerneeds to sit the fuck down. Why in the hell should I care about makin him rich so he can through it back in his fans faces with “stuntin is a habit” an oher ballerific sit like that. The truth is musicians were overcompensated for YEARS and the payscale is just now catching up. There is absolutely no reason on earth my sons english teacher is making $24k/year facing layoffs and Jayz can rake in 30million last year peddling drug talk and materialism. Nah playa missme with all that bulshit.
PLUS real artists uderstand that the industry has evolved to live shows and merchandising being the focal point. You can’t bootleg a live exerience. This helps weed outthose who cant perform and even better yet R&B artists who cant sing. Well hopefully when the Dream retires…
