Fans don’t care about how many units sold, they don’t care about what an artist did before they were rappers, they don’t like or hate an artist just because someone else does. If you like an artist music, go out and buying, enjoy it, and support it. To hell what everyone else does. Then, maybe the state of hiphop will improve because artist will make music from their heart and know that if they do, “true” fans will support them.
