Eminem x Rihanna “Love The Way You Lie” (L.A.)

Tuesday, June 15 2010 7:06 AM EST | Posted by: YN | Posted in: Blog, Live Show

In case you didn’t get the memo, Marshall’s in the video game business and last night at an Activision’s E3 event in LA, he performed the big record off Recovery. Yup, that’s Ri-Ri and Travis Barker on drums. Hopefully, the big guy comes through with better footage. But let this hold you over until then.

UPDATE: Rap-Up got us.

After the jump, more performances.

Dont be hating on me for saying that Eminem is my favourite emcee. He has four classics in my book now too: SSLP,MMLP,TES,RECOVERY. The only thing that made ppl forget about Em was the long gap between classics Eminem Show 2002 Recovery 2010. 8 Fucking years later ! But those four albums make Eminem the GOAT regardless.

yall do know that what yall say online don’t matter right?

just making sure, because some of yall writing WAY too many words and posting too much. it REALLY doesn’t matter.

  3. PITRI says:

    Travis is a BEAST!

  4. True Fan says:

Em’s new shit is awsome . Now he only needs to get his performance back on cause at times he looks kinda awkward on stage.

  5. Drucifer says:

Why do people even respond to that haters???………..LOL, they been repeating the same shit for the last 12 years and Em still managed to form quite a respectable career for himself despite them, I think its alot funnier to see them huff and puff while the numbers sit their and laugh in their face, personally

Performances are gettin a lil better then they were last year, he looked totally awkward at the AMA’s last year but this seemed alright, cool to see him and rhianna perform the song together, get used to it, thats gonna be a smash

  6. Nick says:

@ true hater.. if you think eminem only stans for devil talk then you must be the of the fucks that doesnt actually listen to the lyrics.. this new cd is pretty much all about him changing and getting over shit. Some of relapse was a little questionable but still genius. you dont get named the artist of the decade for nothing.. so next time keep your dumb ass opinions to yourself

  7. Wow. says:

    HAH fuck Yelawolf.
Shady is the only white Emcee runnin’ the game.

@thank me hater… Don’t get me wrong I fuks wit Em like em is easily in my top 3… Wat I’m sayin is I jus hate when niggas be like em`s da GOAT nd he’s da best rapa alive nd all that bullshit! Like if u aint da GOAT how u be BEST RAPA ALIVE? Because if u r da GOAT (jay-z) obviously u da BEST RAPA ALIVE(jay-z)! But than again niggas have they own opinions like they got assholes so it is wat it is but this is jus my opinion HOV is da GOAT ND BEST RAPA ALIVE but KANYE ND EM r MY top 3!

  11. Roy says:

No rapper is good enough to be called the greatest ever. I just have my list of greatest rappers, not in order. Em is on that list by the way.

The whole devil thing is getting blown out of proportion. Considering the devil is a man made concept. Whatever though, I’m not getting into the religious debate.

Em’s performances are full of energy. I’m not gonna lie though, when he first came back, his first few performances were complete shit. Now, he brings a lot of raw energy.

  12. Thank Me Hater says:

@iam2smooth I feel you on that. That is logical. I honestly don’t believe that jay z is the greatest rapper alive, but if you factor in all the moves and ventures that he’s done in hip hop I can understand why people call him the GOAT. I think being the GOAT encompasses more than what you do on the mic. Just my opinion

  17. shayden says:

@Damon i agree u can ee how much he loves live performances and feeds off the energy of the crowd, That is the Em I kno and am glad to see again. And did u notice how he is into the rock and rum solos of travis barker. It looks so natural him rockin out to his beats now t really makes sense to me why he chose the beats he did. He was even singn in Rhiannas parts of the song while she was. He goes so hard and i cant wait til Sept @nd show at Comerica park!

  18. Flashik says:

i want back the old Eminem, where he raps hard,,this Em seems not to be real just an strategy of marketing. besides, he does not need to share stage with r&b or even POP artists ,,like pink,,Won´t back down, sucks!!

  19. shayden says:

@flashik r u kiddin me? did u watch the performances he goes way hard he kills that shit!

  21. Roy says:

    @Flashik

I don’t want the old Eminem back. That would be boring. I’d rather not have 10 MMLPs. I’d rather the dude evolve. And I hope you realize, that Em doesn’t make fun of pop stars because he hates them. The last time he actually did that was in 2000. After that, he just did it because it sold well. And you’re right, he doesn’t need to share the stage with pop stars. I mean, he’s got a number one single by himself. He by no means needs anyone to help him sell. He’s just branching out. He’s not 27 anymore. He’s pushing 40. He wants to branch out before his time is up to retire. The song with Rihanna might be one of the most socially important Em has done. It’s not as tailored for radio or the charts as people might believe. Em has had problems with women for his whole life. He tells exactly what domestic abuse is. It’s a vicious circle. It never stops. He brought Rihanna on the tracks because it happened to her. And the fact that she’s not with him anymore makes the track very believable.

I’m glad Em is trying something new and fresh. It’s exactly what he needs. Of course, he still gives us the raw lyrics with songs like Cold Wind Blows and Almost Famous. So the Eminem we love is still here.

  22. Yousef says:

Fuck a drake!! Keep real Hip-Hop alive.

  23. che-el-pibe says:

@iam2smooth jay is mad ill but that dont mean em dont got classics cmon mmlp sslp tes n idk about this one yet but thats 3 classics right there

  24. Flashik says:

I just want back the old eminem, authenctic and original. This new one seems to be just an strategy of marketing

  25. concerned citizen says:

I Love The Way You Lie
    song by Eminem with Rihanna

…Just gonna stand there, And watch me burn
But that’s alright, Because I like The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there, And hear me cry
But that’s alright, Because I love The way you lie
I love the way you lie

I love you too much, To walk away though
Come inside, Pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don’t you hear sincerity, In my voice when I talk
Told you this is my fault, Look me in the eyeball
    Next time I’m pissed
I’ll aim my fist, At the dry wall
Next time, There will be no next time
I apologize, Even though I know it’s lies
I’m tired of the games, I just want her back
    I know I’m a liar
If she ever tries to f**king leave again
I’mma tie her to the bed
And set the house on fire

These lyrics to the highly-charged Eminem and Rihanna duet are very disturbing.
I’d be very afraid that this powerful song would incite abusers with the idea to
murder their wife or girlfriend if they tried to leave again by setting them
    on fire.
I just heard this song yesterday, June 28th. It was very upsetting. And then
today June 29th the very next day, I heard on the radio this story:
    http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/los_angeles&id=7526933
about a young woman’s charred body found burning on the side of the freeway
in Los Angeles County, a college town called Claremont. If this was a case of
an abuser taking it too far, do you think Eminem and the music execs would feel
any guilt, remorse, desire to pull the song or issue a public apology?
