Im a aspiring journalist, an they gave you fuckers alcohal at a hiphop round table discussion ? This is the person who pitched the idea “Ok guys we’ll have ciroc on deck, good product placement, and you cant talk about a genre of music so materialistic, masagonistic, a bit coonery at times without being shitfaced”….. Tall Isrealis is runnin this rap shit – Mos Def

  7. nate. says:

How long ago was this? wasn’t DR NAS’s last album?

  8. dashing says:

True point: OB4CL2 came out in September and it feels like years ago because so much material(between leaked songs, freestlyes, mixtapes and official releases) has been put out that albums get buried.

  13. MXL says:

I don’t even know who most of those people were. Putting their names on-screen while they spoke would have definitely helped.

  14. Xilla says:

I’m not saying quantity over quality what i’m saying is I don’t have time or the patience to like nigga that takes 5 years to come out w/ an album. Wayne drops hotness on the regular nigga in jail and he’s dropping more dope freestyles than Nas. so what you saying? Arsh hole and yeah hope of BDot’s sack b/c he will smack one of yall in real life.

  15. money mitch says:

  16. 1 fly slave says:

Nas not an entertainer?Give me quality over quantity.! 1good nut over over 50 quickies.

  17. socal says:

quantity over quality is not hip-hop. sounds like a slippage in journalism or some bloggers just being products of their own environment

  18. socal says:

However, congrats to the roundtable. You guys work hard, nonetheless.

  22. The Real says:

The Source lost my respect on this one.

Nas, Andre 3000, Common, Ghostface etc., these aren’t rappers they are ARTIST. Nas is like a Federico Fellini and Lil Wayne is like a James Cameron. One changed the game artistically the other financially (broke sales records and had bomb sfx). When its all said in done, Nas, Andre 3000, Ghostface, Common etc. are leaving behind art, not hot for the moment, safe, mainstream, big budget, over hyped blockbuster mega plat sellout albums. Nas, Andre 3000, etc get held to higher standards.

So no, Nas, Andre 3000, Common, etc aren’t gonna be in your face 24/7 because they’ve always been motivated by something more than money, they respect the art and they probably want to put out something that has meaning or that is of significance. If you’re into music for anything other than yourself (i.e because the girls or your friends like it, or its POPular, everyone knows it, or because it made alot of money for someone) then you are missing the point and your opinion is skewed.

Lil Wayne = Entertainer (look at his face, look at his tats)

    Nas, Andre 3000 = Artist

I’m not taking anything away from lil wayne, as being called James Cameron is a complement. I like Aliens like I liked the Carter, Avatar as much as the Carter 3, and the Titantic as much as Rebirth.

  23. Puerto-Black says:

@Xilla, so if lil’ wayne and nas drop a album on the same day, your gonna buy the wayne?

  24. Wait. says:

Okay, so you’d rather have Lil’ Wayne spewing Shit-Hop daily, over simply being ‘patient’ and catch a modern-day classic like Distant Relatives… I guess I can’t relate.
    Please, continue with the bullshit.

Remember the intro to “Things Fall Apart?” Stupid question. Reminder:
“Inevitably, Hip-Hop records, are treated as though they are, disposable. They’re not maximized as product, even; y’know, not to mention, as ‘art.’

  25. mmkayy says:

    lmao @ fag bag

  26. illaDeuce says:

he said OB4CL 2 came out a couple months ago… its almost a year… anyway good rountable discussions. Run more of these.
