The Cable News Network recently caught up with T.I. in his Atlanta home. He discusses his redemption songs on King Uncaged and says that he won’t be a 40 year old rapper.

I RESPECT TIP EXPLANATION ON THE “40-YR RAPPER”…I CAN DIG IT.
BUT ON THE FLIP SIDE, JAY DOES IT FOR LUV OF HIP HOP…THAT’S NOT HIS BREAD AND BUTTER. IF HE WANTS TO TAKE A BREAK AND FINALLY KNOCK UP QUEEN CREOLE…HE CAN VERY WELL DO IT. THEY DON’T HAVE THAT RESPONSIBILITY OF CHILDREN SO WHY NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT NOW.

people who talk about “not rapping at 40”, my personal opinion, are the ones who ain’t willing to evovle as artist. so they themselves know they can’t be spittting the same shit forever, there for said artist just bow out. in every other genre of music, they do it (if they can) to the death, but hip-hop for some reason, has to put an expiration date on it self. then cry, boo-hooin’ “hip-hops dead’, nah man you just allowing it to decompose….
40 year old rapper is like a 30 year old Running Back *Cough* Tomlinson *Cough* Some can still do it at that age, but at the same time if the passion aint there no more, and you’ve run out of ideas creatively, then you gotta call it quits. Too bad not too many rappers have a back up plan which is whats so sad. Best of luck to all the rappers nearing 40
Is it only hip hop that has an age limit though? Cuz I know for a fact there are some rockstars old as dirt right about now still performing and stuff.
