I’m with you 100% on this, and the point wasn’t lost on me. That line is one of the most fucked up, ignorant, selfish, disrespectful things I’ve ever heard in a song. The concept of “live fast, die young” is nothing new (it’s actually cliche as hell), but dude turns it in to something else when he debates whether he should buy a watch, or help out thousands of suffering people with is money.
It’s that moment in the song where the shit goes off the tracks. Even if he did donate to Haiti, the fact that he weight it against buying a fucking watch is beyond disrespectful. It’s not a legitimate dilemma, it is an ignorant one.
