Raekwon Features On Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang

After his much-heralded return on OB4CL 2, Shallah doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. In a conversation with VIBE, the Chef reveals some of the guest appearances on his September release, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang.

“Method Man, Ghostface, Inspectah Deck, and GZA all appear on the album. At the same time I got some other guys involved like [The Roots’] Black Thought—I love his talent. I think that when it comes to him delivering what level I wanted to go he was the perfect man. I also have Raheem DeVaughn who sounds like Curtis Mayfield over a Shaolin track. “RZA doesn’t have to be on every album.I wanted to give some other producers a chance. It’s not about beef. We can stand on our own.”

  4. bob says:

So does this mean no RZA?

  5. Ben says:

Agreed, RZA needs to handle the beats.

  6. joshchrome says:

RZA is not needed! not that we dont want him, i would love him but it will still be hot without him

  7. gurpswu says:

The best solo albums from each member of the wu camp are all produced by the RZA. What does that tell you?

RAE – Cuban Linx 1 – RZA produced every track.
GZA – Liquid Swords – RZA produced every track.
Ghostface – Ironman – RZA produced every track apart from 1

The best songs on CL2 were RZA produced.

    c’mon son.

  8. Joshua says:

Lets be honest what was the last good Rza beat ?
Rza best production was in the 90’s

  9. Cory says:

    Joshua is right.

gurpswu’s post is based purely on opinion and is thus invalid

  10. asdf says:

  11. thomas says:

dope. Yo, anyone who hasn’t heard the Ghostface “Wizard of Poetry” album yet… classic. Raheem Devaughn is on a lot of those tracks too. Don’t front like you don’t listen to R&B. Great album.

  12. serpentor says:

it’s true, raekwon, you don’t need rza, but would be interesting what ya’ll could do together ya know?! it sounds like (to me) that you feel rza getz too much shine…*rza don’t have to be on every album* yes, he don’t have to be on every album, yes (we know) you can stand on your own, but it aint about that, its about the music!!!!! musically, you need to grow up, you still stuck in that 90’s style, hence the ‘curtis mayfield over a shaolin track’ bit….
