It’s amazing the hate that Ross get’s. 90% of the rap game lies, and yet Ross is crucified for it. Yes he had great promotion, but so do a lot of rappers, and they can’t even mover 100K. Fab sold 99,000 and he get’s heavy promotion (and radio play).
Ross has always been between 150K-220K, so he’s in his zone. If you look at Jay, the one thing is he was always around 400K-600K. He never got overly popular, a la’ a 50 Cent, who’s flamed out and career is over. Now I’m not comparing Jay to Ross, but it seems Rozay has a consistent fan base, one that will stick through the CO business. That goes a long way in the music biz.
We’ll see if Def Jam keeps Ross, as I’m not sure if they recoup the $$$ they put out for marketing, but I can tell you this. If he’s dropped, he’ll be picked up very quickly. He sells consistent numbers and is on the top of his game right now. I’ll now wait for the Eminem groupies to start attacking me for stating facts. Proceed.
