Em has stayed relevant for over 10 years, even after leaving the game for about half a decade. Yes, that shows talent. People like MJ, Elvis, The Beatles, etc stay relevant to this day.
Every once in a while, there’s an artist that comes out and speaks to a generation. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, this is what happen. Em is one of those dudes. No, I’m not putting Em on MJ’s, Beatles, or Elvis level. That would be ridiculous. Em hasn’t been around long enough. But this is how it starts out. Em sells because the generation he has spoken too still follow him. And the reason Recovery is selling so well is because it shows Em has grown as a person. So has the generation that he speaks to. And he also brought in a lot of new fans that don’t understand the impact Em made 10 years ago.
White people buy the majority of records release today. You’re thinking of this on a hip hop standpoint. Em’s much bigger than a hip hop star. He’s a global star. Why don’t artists like Christina Aguilera sell like Em? She came out around the same time. She’s white. So why don’t she sell based on your logic? Or anyone else for that matter. I noticed it myself and felt like a dick! But i stand by the ORIGINAL point i was trying to make. Eminem is great. But eminem is as successful as he is because he is white and that is a fact. I think most of the people arguing with me confused me saying eminem sells millions because he is white, for me saying eminem sucks? Eminem would be lucky to do Drake numbers if he was black, being that he doesn’t have that “pop” appeal of a drake.
