Raekwon Features On Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang

Monday, July 19 2010 4:15 PM EST | Posted by: Big Homie | Posted in: Blog, Newsstand Stan

After his much-heralded return on OB4CL 2, Shallah doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. In a conversation with VIBE, the Chef reveals some of the guest appearances on his September release, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang.

“Method Man, Ghostface, Inspectah Deck, and GZA all appear on the album. At the same time I got some other guys involved like [The Roots’] Black Thought—I love his talent. I think that when it comes to him delivering what level I wanted to go he was the perfect man. I also have Raheem DeVaughn who sounds like Curtis Mayfield over a Shaolin track. “RZA doesn’t have to be on every album.I wanted to give some other producers a chance. It’s not about beef. We can stand on our own.”

Rick Ross’ Reaction To LeBron’s Decision

Monday, July 19 2010 3:04 PM EST | Posted by: B.Dot | Posted in: Blog, Clutch

Rick Ross usually comes off impassive, so it’s funny watching him out of character. Here’s footage of The Boss on the edge of his seat as LeBron James announces his move to the Miami Heat. Apparently, Rozay’s also the reason Chris Bosh signed with the team as well. False call.

Shyne Covers XXL (September 2010)

Monday, July 19 2010 1:54 PM EST | Posted by: B.Dot | Posted in: Blog, Newsstand Stan

Lord have mercy, Jesus Christ. Despite the string of underwhelming tunes, Shyne covers one half of XXL‘s September issue. The other features Young Jeezy. In an excerpt given to MTV, Po speaks on shootin’ the club up a decade ago.

“In my life, when I make decisions to roll, I roll. And I don’t give a fuck what the consequences are. If I’ma defend myself, I’ma defend myself. If somebody tryna kill or hurt one of my partnas or my comrades, that’s with me, there is no, ‘Yo,’ or, ‘Damn, well, if I pull this shit out, this is what’s gonna happen.’ No! I don’t wanna die. I don’t wanna be laid up in no fucking hospital with a tube runnin’ through me, hurtin’ and sufferin’. Pain is real. So you know what? I’m not doin’ that. You gon’ do that, motherfucker. You gon’ roll and say hi to Satan, not me. And that’s that. Your survival instincts tell you to protect and preserve, and you deal with whatever later.”

Drake & His Andre 3000 Shrine

Monday, July 19 2010 1:29 PM EST | Posted by: B.Dot | Posted in: Blog, Newsstand Stan

Even though Drake didn’t get Andre 3000 on his debut, he’s still his biggest fan. In fact, he tells PAPER about the shrine he has in his crib dedicated to the rapper.

On how he honors his mentor, Andre 3000 from Outkast:
I have a shrine in my apartment dedicated to Andre. I took a door off a barn and had an artist take the lyrics from his verses [and put them] on this barn door. As soon as you walk into my apartment that’s the first thing you see.

MC Hammer Credited On “MC Hammer”

Monday, July 19 2010 1:08 PM EST | Posted by: B.Dot | Posted in: Blog, True Story

Although Rick Ross’ Teflon Don hits stores tomorrow, we’ve had an advance copy for a couple of days now. After examining the album art, I noticed that the rapper MC Hammer (K. Burrell) was credited on the self titled track. Even though he didn’t write on the record, he earns royalties for the interpolation of “Too Legit Too Quit”.  You know, the part when Ross says, “Started selling dough, I’m too legit to quit ?” That’s a check. Fuck you, pay me.
