Shady LP grew after coutless amount of shows, but it wasn’t a big debut.
He then was all over Dre’s ’2001′, which grew even more anticipation for MMLP.
The album was controversial, records like Real Slim Shady and Stan were hits.
That’s why that album blew up huge. If it had just blew up but sucked, Eminem wouldn’t have any staying power. But MMLP IS a classic album.
Then he launched new acts like Obie and D12, had his little beefs, had his clothing company, and Shady Records. Shady was a movement.
Records like Sing for the Moment and Lose Yourself are timeless. He sells because people can relate to his experiences and get inspired by his success.
Relapse sold because he hadn’t dropped an album in years, but obviously, because it was GARBAGE, the sales dropped FAST, it fell off the radar.
Recovery is here, and because the shit is dope, it has staying power.
Such a stupid cop-out, oh he’s white that’s why he sells. Nah, his life story touches more people than being a drug dealer on the streets of NY, that’s why.
