Maaaan thank God for Video Music Box on WNYE Channel 25 while the rest of my family was asleep on Saturday late nights back in the day, when I didn’t have the privilege to listen to rap ALBUMS. The three videos that immediately come to mind when I hear the words “Video Music Box” are “Let Me Know” (Cam’Ron), Quiet Storm (Mobb Deep), and, perhaps my favorite video I watched on there, “1-9-9-9” (Common, Sadat X, Talib Kweli). Oh yes! Good nights! Respect!

  4. GROUNDBREAKING AUTHENTIC SHOW THE BEST HIPHOP VIDEO SHOW PERIOD! REMEMBER WHEN THEY HAD SPECIAL ON NASTY NAS BEFORE ILLMATIC DROPPED CLASSIC! CRAZY SAM THE VID KID! THE BOX THAT ROCKS!!!”!!!!

Ralph McDaniels doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
Hip hop would not be what it is today without him.
If you make a list of the most influential men or women in Hip Hop Ralph McDaniels has to be on there, without a doubt.

And it’s a shame that a man who was so instrumental in the foundation of Hip Hop doesn’t receive the accolades and respect that he deserves. Are you listening VH1? There’s no excuse for not honoring him at the Hip Hop Honors and honestly he should have his own show on there.
