New Music: Drake “I’m Ready For You”

Nice shot, JB. Word has it that this is a reference track for a certain pop singer. No telling exactly, but at the tail end, Drake adds a spankin’ new verse. We’re ready for the final product!

  2. smh says:

    Really? Why do you have to bite offa Nneka’s Heartbeat? *sigh*

  3. cj says:

    yea it does sound like its for rhianna..the rap verse was coo i guess…i gotta give it a second listen

  4. Evan G says:

    God that was bad… rap was ok, but that singing appeals to mildly retarded people… you know the type of people I’m talkin about. Check yourself if you start singing along to that. Can he switch up the flow a little bit too

    OK I’M STARTING TO THINK RIH RIH BAJA KITTY CAT GOT THE BOYS GOIN CRAZY! LOL

    BEAT DOWNS, BASEBALL PLAYER GETTING BENCHED, SONGS DEDICATED TO HER…YEAH, MS ROBYN GOT THE ILL NANA! LMAO

  7. wow says:

    @smh nobody was biting they sampled! that´s hip-hop remember?

  8. radiookilla says:

    this shit is tuff . no lie

  9. Kid Rapp says:

    damn this is gonna be a hit… Hope its not some whack pop singer like jojo or some shit lmao

  10. Teddy says:

    sounds pretty fresh just hope drakes next album has abit more varied subject matter cos every song im hearing now is the same type of song they sound diff but all the verses are for chick verses their sick verses but all the greats have versatility and range if drizzy wants the tourch his gotta have that range

  11. ~ says:

    Cant lie its catchy. i dont think he put full effort into it only because he givin it to someone else he jus showin how to sing it. my opinion he coulda made a good song out of this for himself but whatever shits all good. stop fuckin hatin all you bitter fans whose favorite rappers aint doin shit no more. at least theres one dude in the game who still young and might be able to keep this hip hop shit goin. record sales are needed and he doin it. and for all you ross dick riders: that dude has had the same flow on every song since “everyday im hustlin” and no one says shit bout it so let it go yall

  12. IZM says:

    @wow

    Thats what I was thinking at first, but SMH has a point. Its definitely not normal to “sample” the melody, the bridge and the hook all from the same song. I mean especially since “Heartbeat” is such a recent song, and this ones obviously going to another pop-star (apparently Nicki Minaj), this is feelin a lot more like biting to me.

  13. yaboy says:

    This is Drake featuring Nneka as seen on http://theallcitychessclub.blogspot.com/2010/07/drake-feat-nneka-im-ready-for-you-tags.html

    Give artists credit where credit is due.

  14. smh says:

    @IZM exactly at least someone gets it. It’s funny how cats then try and throw out “oh sampling is a part of hip-hop” when it’s NOT sampling it’s BITING. If someone took the acapella offa Drake’s “Over” and threw it in a song tomorrow you think they’d call that sampling? Heartbeat is a recent song from a foreign artist who 1) Isnt as big as these american “superstar” commercial cats and isn’t in the same lane at all so it makes it easier in the US market 2) You take away from her by doing this cause now the average person will think this is original 3) You jack like IZM said the melody, bridge and hook all at once? THAT IS NOT SAMPLING. BTW don’t try and school me on the intricacies of Hip-Hop homie to defend biting. If you’re a real artist who claims to have talent come up with your own shit and stop brazenly stealing isht from real talents.

  15. Word 2.0 says:

    @DARKAQUA

    COSIGN! She dont look like much, but there aint no denying the power that coochy of hers has on people.

  16. ~ says:

    @SMH. I definitly agree wit the bitin off peoples shit like especially when the sample is from a recently new track like this one. but at the same time this could give that Nneka girl some more exposure in america because after jus listenin to her song i like her style and her voice. i woulda never known who she was if drakes version never came out. im sure alotta ppl from america lookin at this haven’t heard of her either. anyway, i dont like how he took her song like that

  17. guuci bag says:

    can you please stop saying hip hop is gonna die because of record sales. hip hop wasnt made to produce millions of dollars. stupid motherfuckers did that shit. its real cool to make all that bread but you got artists who would give drake a run for his money. its set up for everyone else to lose while he win. thats all. right now, its cool for him to be known as hip hop’s number 1 guy. but if you really listen to hip hop, you know he’s not. drake says his next is gonna be more hip hop ish. he wants it to be more grittier. motherfucker should have did that the first time around.

  18. So Icy Boi! says:

    Dis shot TRASH! Drake my nigga u fallin off ..stop mixing singin wit rap on every song …Where the “so far gone” Drake at ?

  19. So Icy Boi! says:

    Haha damn i didnt read the rest of the post …but who ever song its gonna be it still sucks

  20. Young Mo Fo says:

    Damn, Irv Gotti said Nikki Minaj is the next Lauryn Hill? I think if it is any person, its this Nekka chick.

  21. Donn says:

    Dude got a bright future, gotta be nice to see him do his thing in the coming yrs. Do yo thing Drizzy!

  22. ETHUG says:

    This is the best rapper in the game?

  23. Dozez says:

    i kinda thought that drake can sing but i guess not….

  24. I LOVE THE NNEKA SAMPLE!

    WHO EVER PRODUCED THIS, DESERVES A PIECE OF CAKE!

    lol

    The song is not as moving as Nneka’s original track, but its a good tune. I hope Nneka catches on in america.

  25. blatant re-packaging of somebody else’s really good song = a good, more commercial version of that song with new melodies.

    anyway, i like it. i could def see rihanna singing it. that’s how the world works, nneka. i guess u gotta get mo’ naked with your body and less heartfelt with your music, baby. ‘cuz they gonna repackage your song and give it to a pop tart with more sex appeal.

  26. Donn says:

    Song is ill, Drake’s a good songwriter, who ever takes this joint is gonna kill it. Unthinkable is probably still keepin Drizzy paid.

  27. Post no billz says:

    @darkaqua .. Co-sign that ill nana *dead*

  28. HORUS says:

  30. Evelyn Turner says:

    I think the song should go Melanie Fiona. Drake wants to keep promoting Toronto. He should work with more artists from his hometown.

  31. DoeMoney says:

    Ol’Tea & Crumpet ass nigga..

  32. yoooood says:

  33. ThaDude says:

    This track is sickkkk

  34. Citylivin' says:

  39. Evelyn Turner says:

    It’s seems like “Sooner Than Later” “What If I Kissed You” and “I’m Ready For You” tell a story. Hopefully, she appreciates the effort he’s putting into gaining back her love. It’s sappy but clever. Definitely a Keith Sweat move.

  40. Midnite! says:

    Sampling is a part of hip hop!jUST a little part of a song should be sampled,thats it.Not the whole song…..Damn this motherfucker bit the whole song basically….Drake is bullshit anyway….WAYYYYY OVERHYPED!!!I like the chicks version better!

    @smh

    i see your point but i have never even heard of nneka until i saw your post. i guess thats a good aspect of sampling. it might introduce the person being sampled to a whole new audience

  56. psyclones245 says:

    Are you guys kidding me?! This is a VERY good song.. All you stupid people need to get over the fact that he took one *little* part of her song and stuck it in there…. Besides that fact.. Rihanna was probably not going to use it anyway.. All of her stuff has been hard core and kind of annoying since the beat down from Chris Brown.. This is not hard core…. Main Point here: GET OVER YOURSELF! its a good song…..
