During her Rock The Bells shows, L-Boogie caught a lot of flack for performing her Miseducation classics at different tempos. Well at the 1:48 mark, the 1515 Boys got the scoop on why she decided to switch the style up. Hey one can understand, that doesn’t mean we agree. Ha!

“There’s been such a long period of time where I haven’t been able to communicate where my mind is, where my consciousness is, where my ideas are, I have to upgrade them a bit so that they’re still exciting and fresh and they’re new. There’s something almost jazz-like the way I approach performances. I’m not sure if the audience really understands. We need, or at least I need, a certain amount of spontaneity, a certain amount of improvisation every show. I might have gotten spoiled from the Fugee days. We used to improvise a lot. It kept it so fresh and exciting. I need that. I need that improvisational, almost jazz-like improvisational dynamic when I’m onstage. It keeps it so exciting. It’s that unknown, that literal X factor that makes every show something different — something unique and something I want to continue to do.”

    i just hated that i couldn’t sing along w her. enjoyed the set nonetheless but it would have been better if she stuck to the original versions.

  2. zmz says:

    that’s all good, and if the crowd is feeling it then even better. but from the videos i’ve seen online, it seems not even she can keep up with the sped up tracks.

  3. ???? still best rite now!! says:

    probably the most overrated artist eva!! (her and Biggie) at least Big has an excuse, his life was taken…

    She’s dropped one official solo album in 16 years in the game, and spent half of that time in hiatus. Yet niggas herald her as a goddess? smh

    I look at it as a waste of talent…she couldve been a female Micheal Jackson, Hey fame aint for everyone i guess….

  4. Ice_B says:

    i heard shes racist towards white people,, is that true?

  5. H84NOREASON says:

    @??? still bet rite now!!

    I agree with Lauryn being a waste of talent, but you sound crazy saying Biggie was overrated. If anything he was underrated before he died. He released 2 classic albums and damn near every freestyle and collaboration was epic.

    2Pac is my favorite, but biggie SMALLS is the illest!!!

  6. ???? still best rite now!! says:

    @H84NOREASON

    Yea u rite, its really unfair to call Big or Pac overrated, ppl forget their careers were from 20-25 years old. thats crazy!! Soulja Boy is 21 ( Pac did 2pacalyspe Now @ 20) lmao Hov didnt even drop till he was 26!

    Don’t matte. She still classic.

  8. back when she first went solo she used to do the same show night after night and people loved it. i went and saw her that time and HATED it. her eyes were glazed over. it was like she was a robot. a few years after that (i think it was ’02 or ’03) i saw her in brooklyn and she looked like she was working thru some personal issues, but hey at least it was REAL and hey that’s what artists do. from the video clips i saw from the rock da bells concert, she looked like she was putting on a lively show. if people want Laurynbot 5000 then they should go back and look at videos from circa 1998. i’m looking forward to whatever she’s coming with next. let the past stay in the past.
