Eminem x Jay-Z “Renegade” (Comerica Park)

Of course the two co-headliners had to perform their collabo off The Blueprint. Thanks Em and Jay.

  16. Ol' Head says:

I totally dont agree that Em “murdered” Jay on this…first off its an Em beat that he produced so its tailor made for his flow…WHICH WAS CRAZY ON THIS AND ALWAYS IS!!!! As far as the lyrics, I think they hittin from two different perspectives…Jay is speaking more to the hood while Em is speaking more to the mainstream…they both kill it but i think Em flow was just better which is to be expected considering he made the beat….U cant be “murdered” spittin the shit Jay spittin!!!

“I had to hustle my back to the wall/ashy knucles/pockets filled with alot of lint/not a cent/gotta vent/lotta innoncent lives lost on the project bench/what u hollering/gotta pay rent bring dollars in/by the bodeg/iron under my coat feeling braver/doo-rag wrapping my waves up/pockets full of hope”!!!! If u dont feel that then u aint come from where Jay/I/we come from…..

  17. […] Eminem & Jay-Z took the stage together at last night’s concert and performed “Renegade” for the folks at Comerica Park. You can also watch Jay-Z’s tribute performance to hip-hop’s fallen soldiers including The Notorious B.I.G. and Proof. Courtesy of RR. […]

  18. Fuk Em says:

Only a cracker would think Jay got murdered on this track and that is because they really don’t understand what Jay is saying because they aint from the hood…They only understand bull shit that is spit for suberb kids which is what Em does like talking about how much he hates his mom down to he want’s to kill his girlfriend shit like that. His verses have nothing to do with survival in the streets.

  19. Android says:

Nas would eliminate both. Already dd one. Renegaaaaaade…….

  20. YM says:

What if Royce 59 also spit his original verse, that would be a nice remix ..still.

  21. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Fuk em

“Only a cracker would think Jay got murdered on this track”

EVEN NAS SAID THAT SHIT!!!! SO NAS IS A CRACKER??? SO NAS AIN’T FROM THE HOOD???

EM COMIN’ OFF BETTER DON’T MEAN JAY AIN’T COME OFF!!!! U NIGGAS LET YA EMOTIONS STOP YA’LL FROM THINKIN’ STRAIGHT!!!! PAY ATTENTION!!!!

COMMENT ONLY UNEDUCATED NIGGAS WOULD MAKE. NAS ALREADY SAID EM BODIED JAY AND NAS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME AND YES HES ABOVE JAY ON THAT LIST SO SUE ME NIGGA

  23. HipHopIsDead says:

lets alll chill here…jay’s verses were fuckin amazing and eminem’s were better but the fact is they both had some of the best verses to ever be spit in hip hop. if you put jay’s verse against any other rapper he would murk them mercillesly but em just went harder on that song. We should be happy we got great verses from both of the top rappers alive today. that song is just perfection!

  24. KING. H says:

YHANK YOU EMINEM FOR EXPOSING CAMELFACE’S WACKNESS!!

I CAN BELIEVE A WHITE BOY KILLED A PRETENTIOUS NIGGA!! LMAO!!!

EMINEM KILLED THE SONG & THE PERFORMANCE… CAMEL-Z FLOPPED AT BOTH THINGS!!!

EMINEM IS LIKE 100 TIMES BETTER THAN MR. KNOWLES BUT SOME PEOPLE DON’T GIVE HIM THE PROPS HE DESERVES BECAUSE HE IS A CAUCASIAN NIGGA.

EMINEM RENEGADED CAMEL-Z, HE FOREVERED LIL WAYNE & FLOP DRIZZY, HE NO LOVED LIL WAYNE & DROP THE WORLDED LIL WEEZY!!! LMAO!! KEEP ON HUMILIATING WACK BIIITCHES EMINEM!!!

CAMELFACE FLOP WHILE EMINEM IS WINNING.

SIDEBAR: CAMELFACE ISN’T EVEN HIS HOMETOWN’S GOAT!!!! NAS & BIGGIE ARE BETTER!!!!

    ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

KING H IS THE TRUTH ✔

  25. ben says:

this song is tight, but is one of my least favorites on blueprint. it never held up to me after all i need.

  26. Dozez says:

yo y the crowd so DEAd!!!!!

  27. stickmandan says:

This is hip-hop right here, wish I got to see this

  28. @Fuk Em says:

Only an uneducated Nigger like yourself would think Em’s verse is nullified because he isn’t spitting about what you want him to. Personally I don’t think Jay got “murdered” on this track, and despite being a “cracker” you little racist fuck I’m still able to empathize with what Jay is saying on the track.

He spit some real shit, and when his verse starts playing you really tune in and start listening to what he’s saying. However, the exact same is true of Em’s verse. If you actually listen to what he’s spitting (which you fuckin obviously haven’t, not once did he bring up Kim or his mom) you’ll realize it’s just as real but from a completely different person dealing with different problems. Both brought fire in my opinion, and it’s because they are rapping from two different perspectives about two different subjects (although, when you think about it, they aren’t. It’s about struggle, hypocrisy, and society) that are REAL that the song is so fucking amazing.

See, I hate niggers like you. You walk around embracing and feeling the words and rhymes of your favorite black rapper who spits about being rejected, racially profiled, unfairly treated, and exploited by close minded “crackers” and government types, yet when a white guy who raps about pretty much the same fucking thing (only from a different perspective) you become close minded and reject him because he didn’t have the exact same life as you. It’s fucking hypocritical. Just because you grew up in the “hood”, and relate to “hood” problems, it doesn’t mean all other problems become irrelevant or “less” of a problem and therefore are not nearly as important.

It takes an individual to be able to sympathize with another individual, but it takes an intelligent individual to empathize with everyone.

  29. mad mike says:

ill that they did this song, but whys em lip syncin???

if u cant perform the shit, just dont do it imo

  30. bob says:

@fuk em thank you people think eminem murdered jay not really if i was a producer/rapper like kanye and eminem dont you think my flow would sound better on my own beat stupid people renegade was eminems song first run this town was kanyes first wtf the two songs outta 11 platinum albums that ppl says he got killed i think thats good being in the game that long and only allegedly getting killed only twice look it up people what rapper has 11 platinum albums far from a flop King h if you ask me jay is one of the best to ever do aside B.I.G and pac Jay has it hands down no comp what so ever

  31. Roy says:

I believe Em did murder Jay. But I don’t think it’s that big of a deal honestly. Because nobody is saying that Jay’s verses sucked. They don’t. Far from it. Two of the best he’s ever written. But Em’s verses are two of the best he’s ever written.

The long ass post above me from @fuck em speaks a lot of truth. Just because they’re different perspectives doesn’t mean they aren’t as real as each other. Pretty much what people are saying is that because Jay talks about growing up in the streets means his verse are better. Why would Em talk about the streets. He didn’t go through what Jay did, and Jay didn’t go through what Em did. What? You want Em to be a poser? Gtfo.

Different perspectives and just from a lyrical perspective, Em had the better verses, but that doesn’t take anything away from Jay. When I listen to Renegade, I still look forward to hearing Jay’s verses. They are masterpieces.

  32. yessir says:

top 5 rap songs of all time them two together is a motha fukn problem

  33. Ice Cold says:

I hate when people bring up jay-z numbers and pretend he is the only one doing big numbers…Comon Son!!!!! I know it’s hard but it’s 2010 show the white boy some respect my niggaz Eminem is doing big numbers to…..Anybody here can make arguments who’s beter biggie vs PAC…..and Jay vs Eminem……J and EM are the 2 best rappers right now!!!! no other rapper is close to them let me be specific Wayne isn’t close, drake, kanye,Ross, and etc

  34. Tay Holland says:

@Ol Head – Everyone is entitled to opinion. Mine personally, I think Nas is likely a better judge of Lyricism, Had Nas been wrong his diss wouldn’t have packed so much punch! – It’s not so much his subject matter as it is his writing ability. (But how is writing about the hood, more meaningful than writing about censorship and Religious persecution?) Rap Genius felt the same way you did.. Then an educated site visitor came along and ripped that theory to shreds in their comments… Have a read…. http://rapgenius.com/posts/Jay-z-eminem-and-renegade-who-killed-whom

This verse is F–KING GENIUS writing — Both in terms of composition AND depth of the metaphors

Or is he a ladder? a gateway to escape
Media scapegoat; who they can be mad at today?
See it’s easy as cake, simple as whistlin’ Dixie
While I’m waving the pistol at sixty Christians against me
Go to war with the Mormons, take a bath with the Catholics
In holy water – no wonder they try to hold me under longer
    I’m a motherf-ckin spiteful, delightful eyeful
The new Ice Cube – motherf-ckers hate to like you
What did I do? I’m just a kid from the gutter
Making this butter off these bloodsuckers

  35. T.O. king H= k.o.d says:

i like eminem but dude did not kill jay z on this track..thats cause people dont understand what jay is saying

  36. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Roy

COSIGN!!!! U COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER!!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  37. Lilly Russell says:

@Roy – “Why would Em talk about the streets. He didn’t go through what Jay did, and Jay didn’t go through what Em did. What? You want Em to be a poser? Gtfo.”

Actually thats not true…. In fact I would say Em had it just as bad growing up “On the Streets” of Detroit” as Jay did! … Anyone think it’s easy growing up a white kid in a black neighborhood needs their head examined. He had to face just as much poverty and racism as Jay did! Only difference is Jay-z faced racism outside the hood, Em had to deal with it in the hood. Eminem was literally beat into a COMA as kid man! I think everyone agrees had he not become so close with Proof in his teens, he’d have never made out of the hood alive… (nor given the opportunity to display his skillz)

  38. Lilly Russell says:

@mad Mike – ill that they did this song, but whys em lip syncin???
if u cant perform the shit, just dont do it imo…

Um neither one of them are lip syncin dude, listen again…

  39. Lilly Russell says:

Listen to the Eminem – Royce version, also = F-I-R-E

  40. Android says:

^^Hailey? Is thatchu?… ….Nas would still renegade both these niggas. WE R SLAVES TO A PAGE IN HIS RHYME BOOK.

  41. iam2smooh says:

man both of them held they own fuk wat yall lames goin thru…

  42. sway-z says:

You niggas is stupid, it’s a battle, Nas was trying to say whatever would be a dope punchline, it’s just like Jay saying Nas had the weakest verse on Oochie Wally, knowing damn well that wasn’t true either.

Nobody murdered nobody on that shit, just like Brooklyn’s Finest or Success or any other Jay collabo with other legends. IF Nas never said that shit in Ether, nobody would be saying it right now, that just goes to show how strong an impact Ether had…

  43. Jersey Demic says:

    @jerseydemic Jay’s verse epic

  44. Belize says:

    Shit. LEGENDARY!
    Love Jay’s shirt, lmao.
    Thank you, YN!

  45. asherdasher says:

the sad thing about this discussion is
neither eminem nor jay-z care who had the better verses
and honestly it don’t matter. enjoy the fucking music.

  46. Sisco says:

Few things YM totally agree….seeing royce out there would have killed it…and anybodty else notice em was keeping up with jay during his whole verse and jay seemed like he was a bit behind trying to keep up with em while he was doing his, granted it is a em verse..but still..
