Now that school’s back in session, Lamborghini Rossini made sure kids in his hometown of Mississippi started the semester off right. Partnering with McDonald’s, 99 Jamz, and 1Life1Love Records, he distributed school supplies at the Metro Center Mall in Jackson, MS. CTE luh da kids.

It’s funny how ya’ll dudes talk bout these rappers “giving back to the hood”, while their lyrical content is filled with stories of how they are destroying our communities. Jeezy built his whole career on his BMF affiliation and his Snowman campaign. Oh but you probably forgot about that. These are the same cats that talk about murdering snitches while crimes are up in the poorest neighborhoods and nobody’s willing to do shit. So please spare me your bullshit and disdain. And instead of ya’ll talking about me picking up a book, why don’t you actually read a book and develop some critical thinking.
Do you guys even know that our school are funded with property taxes. Poor neighborhoods have higher crime rates then rich neighborhoods. Crime decreases the value of property. So poor neighborhoods automatically have smaller budgets than richer neighborhoods. The keep it simple: Public schools in poor black communities are broke as fuck. As long as school funds are based on property taxes and crime remains high these schools will remain broke and this effects the education our children are receiving. No school supply giveaway will change that.
You what does. Lower crime rates. So if these rappers were investing in lowering the crime rates more local business will thrive and more money get generated in these communities. As a result property taxes will rise and schools will have higher budgets. Btw, I’m not saying the solution is that simple but a back to school giveaway is a sad attempt at giving back. I reckon they didn’t spends more that a couple of G’s on that shit.

So doing something [no matter how small] is a dumb idea is what you are saying. Crime is definitely one of the main factors that keep these neighborhoods poor but a in place like Mississippi [ which has been historically disenfranchised like many other black neighborhoods] they need to SEE SOMETHING being done. I am pretty sure those that live in these depleted neighborhoods want to have a better education but no one is campaigning for better methods of funding the school system. The problem is bigger than a rapper’s response to the problem. I do think an investment into the community is needed on a constant basis.

Do kids really need to be waking around with bags to small to fit their daily school supplies advertising McDonalds? Do you really think kids will be using this stuff next year? This was the opposite of a sustainable investment. Nigga could have donated money for school books, computers etc. real shit that might have benefited all students for years to come.
