Apparently, MTV does care about Eminem. With back to back shows in The Bronx next week, AP reports Em will open up this year’s Video Music Awards. 10 years ago, he kicked things off at Radio City Music Hall. According to MTV GM Stephen Friedman:
“We thought that there’s no better way to kick off the show than a performance from Eminem.”

I rather have Eminem perform in the middle or last slot. Having all the good performances early will give me a reason to not watch the show.

Man I went to the Detroit show last Friday. OMFG, best display of hip hop ever. B.o.B., Jay-Z (Memphis Bleek), Young Jeezy, Eminem, D12, Dr. Dre. After watching Em last friday, I won’t miss another Em concert near here. Def going to watch the whole VMA’s to see Em take home 8 VMA awards.
I remember Jay finishing off last years show with one of the best hip hop performance in a while. Maybe Ye will end it this year because u save the best for last. Maybe we get Monster
but the real question is what is he gonna perform? dont tell me the rihanna track. i mean its good for the mainstream..radio and tv, but its not my fav to be honest

I think he opening cuz for one they had to persuade himt o performa t all since he has to be acros the country the next night and prob has sound check early monday morning. This is a first. Normally they rap performances anchor awards shows because it keeps people tuned in for the entire show. Hopefully MTV has a good closer (although I can’t think of anyone at the moment).

I remember once on his radio show, he was on and his daughter called in asking him to play some rihanna and ashlee simpson and em replied something like im on the radio shade45 its hiphop it’s hiphop. Meaning rihanna ain’t anywhere in his radar of what he think’s hiphop is about, he ain’t going to play it. Yet he does a song with her. I just don’t understand how that changed.
