Pusha T Explains Mixtape Delay

Pusha T’s mixtape The Fear Of God, was to scheduled to drop last Tuesday, but four days prior, he had a change of heart. Speaking with Karen Civil, Pusha offers an explanation for the hold up.

I don’t have the features, so I don’t really want to say just yet. It’s just about being the first solo perspective of myself and seeing me in that light. Of course, it will always be street and lyric driven Hip-Hop. I think the dichotomy of the Clipse is one of those things where Malice is more of the thinker and the introspective one and I’m usually known as the wordplay one or the one who is a bit more brash. When we attack records, he usually takes that part and I usually take the wordplay aspect. But it’s not that I don’t think or I’m not introspective or have a conscious side to me. So I think you’re going to see all of those sides of me on the mixtape.

    LMAO!! PUSHA T IS JUST TOO BUSY GHOSTWRITING KANYE’S NEWW ALBUM. SHIT WILL FLOP, CLIPSE ALWAYS FLOPPED.

    KANYE WEST IS A FAKE ARTIST, HE DOESN’T EVEN WRITE HIS OWN LYRICS.

    BEYONCE’S WIFE GOT GHOSTWRITERS TOO.

    #ALLFAKEEVERYTHING *CAMEL VOICE*

    “LEONARDO IS A BRAND NAME, LEONARDO IS A LEGEND, LEONARDO IS THE ILLEST”

  2. Crooks says:

    I guarantee you this guys project is going to be underwhelming, unless he has tons of features. Me personally, I won’t be able to hear him, as a solo artist, for a whole album.

  3. J says:

    i hope these haters motivate u pusha

  4. Crooks says:

    It has nothing to do with being a hater, it’s only my opinion brother..just do your research and check his track record..do you really feel “Runway” shows signs of the greatest thing to come?

  5. Nathaniel says:

    pusha is dope. time will tell if he can pull it off. personally, i don’t want to hear a bunch of fucking features. niggas need to go inside themselves and pull greatness out. lyrically, intelligently, pusha has the ability. he just has to make better and better music + brand himself as a solo artist.

    Who can you listen to a whole album from then? No hate here just curious

  8. Crooks says:

    As far as a whole album is concerned, I can listen to Nas, Jay, B.I.G(R.I.P), old Snoop,Outkast, Scarface, old Mobb Deep, old Wu, Em. You know, the Greats..please don’t misinterpret what I said earlier, I think Pusha T is good, still, when album time comes, not to many of these rappers deliver..does anyone hear honestly feel that the Clipse have dropped a classic album? Just curious….

  9. Abdiesel says:

    @ Crooks

    “does anyone hear honestly feel that the Clipse have dropped a classic album?”

    HELL HATH NO FURY……………………….CLASSIC

  10. Up Early In The Morning says:

    Push Ton is live on the mic. You can say what you want about the beats the clipse rhyme on but to deny the lyrics is criminal.

  11. Crooks says:

    @ Abdiesel

    “Hell Hath No Fury”is definitely their best album, good album..

  12. JB says:

    I like pusha t personally and y yall comparing everybody to greats I think its harder to make music now cuz everythings been done yall jus need stop listenin to rap if u aint gonna give anybody a chance

  13. ya says:

    @ Crooks Lord Willin is hands down and without a doubt a classic

  14. Nathaniel says:

    @Crooks

    why are niggas so hung up on whether an album is classic or whether an artist has a classic album in their catalog. all of that shit is relative to opinion. it’s music… niggas don’t need classic in their resume to prove they can deliver quality. quality and classic don’t necessarily correlate.

    not to mention the fact that pusha hasn’t even dropped the MIXTAPE yet. key word, MIXTAPE. i can give a quality emcee a full listen on a mixtape atleast. c’mon, joe… a mixtape. i’ve sat through boring classes for 50 minutes. i can give a true emcee at least that.

    hopefully the shit will have the replay value necessary to keep me coming back. but that remains to be seen.

  15. Crooks says:

    @JB

    No, the problem is that too many rappers are given the benefit of doubt considering what’s out. Drake is considered one of the best due to the class his in, but where does he fall in the “all time” list. I’ve been listening to Hip-Hop for over 18 years, it’s difficult for me to just except. Do you really feel Kid Cudi or Wale would’ve had a place in Hip-Hop during it’s “golden era”?

  16. Crooks says:

    @Nathaniel

    Because it’s easy to make a good song and even easier to write a good verse. It’s a different situation when composing an album. This new generation of Hip-Hop “fans” are so quick to crown niggas the best, or the next big thing, for example, J.Cole is my favorite new emcee, with that being said, how in the world is he being considered the next Nas?

  17. Crooks says:

    @ya

    I love “Grindin”, timeless music..

  18. Crooks says:

    With everything that’s been said, I do hope he drops some fly shit. I always appreciate G.O.O.D music,no pun intended…lol…have a good day everyone!

  19. Nathaniel says:

    @crooks

    drake is sub-par and his staying power is weak because his music lacks substance. song-for-song, same topic. over and over. the longevity wont happen. people just don’t know better when comparing nas and cole.

    when jay dropped RD, he was in the running for best emcee, even though nas had 2 albums out, and big was being heralded. it don’t take much. hell, niggas call biggie the greatest off two albums and a fabricated image, then in the same breath shit on rick ross (who might i add isn’t as talented as biggie by a long shot). but in any case, cole made a mixtape of diverse content and topics and kept it funky. that denotes the possibility for longevity, good branding. nas was able to do the same… nobody is saying he’s as good as nas, i don’t think.

    anyway though, i ain’t saying who the best is… i definitely wouldn’t say pusha is. but you can make quality albums without having a so-called “top ten hip hop classic albums of all time” and all that other bullshit message board people argue about. just some thoughts

  20. H84NOREASON says:

    Pusha T killed his part on “Everyone Nose”

    That nigga said he got a crown made of powder…

    I’m a hater and I can’t even front on Pusha T, but his $5 words are becoming a bit annoying like Nicki Minaj’s fake British accent.

    Good Luck with the tape tho.

  21. Crooks says:

    @Nathaniel

    the internet needs more people like you, someone with their own opinions and point of views, without being argumentative..this might have been the first time on the internet that people share their opinions without being disrespectful..peace out Hip-Hop world..”everybody sounds the same, commercialize the game/ reminiscing when it wasn’t all business/it forgot where it started/so we all gather here for the dearly departed”-NAS

  22. herbsaac says:

    @nathaniel J.cole needs to stick to beats.. his raps are like drakes.. all the same.. but every rapper stays in their same lane.. honestly one of the only ones to do it successfully was Kanye West.. The dude makes great music.. Never has a ghostwriter.. always changes shit up from college and alte.. to 808’s to graduation.. and now dark twisted fantasy.. even tho 808’s wasn’t my cup of tea.. he was still successful with it from a business standpoint.. However.. Im not feelin any of these new rap acts that are fucking pussies.. and rap about pussy topics… I.E. J.Cole Drake Kid Cudi.. all annoying as fuck in my book.. I like me some Freddie Gibbs.. Maino.. and Vado.. so much better and spit from a more real point in what rap should be and used to be about.. the struggle.. and overcoming whether it through dealin.. hustlin.. bein real to the streets and (while not a pre requisite in my book i think it helps..) form the streets or a situation where they aren’t handed everything on a silver spoon.. I.EE. ross drake j.cole cudi.. all from good familys(hell one from canada and the disney version’s rap artist.. mouseketeer shit.. justin timberlake britney spears and christina aguilera.. drake is the exact same in my book) but come on.. J. Cole? his beats are alright but he tries so hard to be outside the box that his shit sounds mediocre

  23. H84NOREASON says:

    @ Nathaniel

    Nigga Biggie is the illest of all time. Biggie the only rapper where everybody know every single word, hook and ad-lib to every single song, remix, feature and freestyle he ever dropped. The only part of his story that was fabricated was the fact that he didn’t grow up poor, but the nigga really was in the streets. Niggas forget he got shot b4 his deal and that’s not to glorify violence, but he wasn’t no studio hustler. He may have embellished his kingpin status, but that’s a part of his creative license.

    Rick Ross on the other hand was a CO that denied being a CO. That’s corny to me, because he had to get exposed over something that should’ve been a footnote. And you’re right his music can’t compete with BIGGIE on any level.

    J. Cole is on his way to having a nice career, but there’s nothing illmatic about his style. He’s doing him and I could respect that.

    Drake hasn’t made anything that I’ve liked since “So Far Gone”, and that tape was good.

    I disagree with the quality album, but no top ten of all time argument; because rap is too competitive to give niggas props for making some shit that didn’t outdo the last albums released. The bar has to be raised, so imho if a nigga wanna be dope he has to make something better than Ready 2 Die, Reasonable Doubt, 36 Chambers, The Infamous, illmatic, Me Against the World, Atliens, Only Built for Cuban Linx, Capital Punishment, The Chronic, The Fix, etc…

  24. H84NOREASON says:

    @herbsaac

    Consequence and Rhymefest would beg to differ regarding ghostwritten raps for Kanye West.

  25. H84NOREASON says:

    @herbsaac

    I’m tired of all these fagotty rappers too.

  26. Nathaniel says:

    @herbsaac

    “cole made a mixtape of diverse content and topics and kept it funky. that denotes the possibility for longevity, good branding. nas was able to do the same… nobody is saying he’s as good as nas, i don’t think.”

    ^that’s ALL i was stating. i didn’t put the survival of hip hop on cole’s back. everything since The Warm Up has all been about “i made it and now watch how i’ma takeover” …pretty corny, no doubt. but no use putting out all the subjects he’ll be tackling on the album. remember, these aren’t album cuts he’s been releasing.

    it’s also interesting that you praise kanye…. and he ain’t a street nigga. now, this doesn’t really matter to me, but it may to you: cole’s mom’s was on drugs, grew up with no daddy. brother in prison. from fayetteville, NC which is a slum ass city in north carolina. he talks about “the struggle”, guess you haven’t heard The Warm Up. he’s a regular, everyday nigga. (and yes, niggas do get college scholarships). shrug* peace

  27. Nathaniel says:

    @H84NOREASON

    …”biggie is the illest of all time”. okay. opinions are opinions. he and ross parade around like mob bosses. literally. and it’s all completely fabricated. and they’re fat rappers. that talk about and embellish a lot of lifestyle shit they never lived. that’s all i’m saying. YES BIGGIE IS DOPE. YES OTHER NIGGAS DO TOO. i just spoke on ross because they liken him to biggie. NO BIG WASNT A CO. so YES ROSS IS MORE OFFENSIVE FOR HIS FAIRYTALES. but it’s a fair comparison on those terms. big did a bid, but he ain’t get shot till 97.

    and “everybody” definitely doesn’t know every word to all his rhymes. that’s just… c’mon, joe. that’s just… shit, iono… not true.

    and i guess i don’t do too much “this album is better or worse than that album” unless i’m comparing a particular artist to other shit in that same artist’s catalog. good music is good music, great, timeless music is timeless…. with time. my favorite era is the 90’s, no question. commercialism has sucked niggas creativity out and banished it to hades, lol. i don’t fuck with drake, cudi, wale either really. but that’s just me. cole is cool, krit is cool… but hey, i’m from atlanta my nigga. different strokes for different coasts i guess.
