Wyclef Named Fellow At Brown University

Today, it was announced that Wyclef has been appointed as a visiting fellow in the Department of Africana Studies at Brown University in Rhode Island. For the 2010-11 semester, Clef will partake in lectures and events that support the school’s Haitian initiative. In a statement Clef said:

“I hope to make a genuine contribution to the rich intellectual community at the University and to its Haitian Initiative in particular.”

Earlier this year, the rapper was awarded a honoary doctorate from Western Connecticut State University in Connecitcut and in March he was honored at Harvard University.

    but props to this man for setting examples in the hip hop community. need more like this and out comments and concerns would make more sense on the net and more.

    I’m so confused. He’s been getting honorary degrees from fucking harvard now a fellowship at brown and he gets lambasted everywhere?

    I guess this is a step in the right direction. But seriously, he needs to just sign up for a bachelors degree program. Add some business, politics, and law to the Haiti curriculum, and then I might believe he’s taken this seriously and not just doing this for positive publicity.
