On February 23, 1995, Big L and Jay-Z left the mics smoking on Stretch and Bobbito’s Show. Until now, only seven minutes of this session circulated on the net. But thanks to DPG, here’s the full 10 minutes. Commentary included. Dig in ya pockets and pay homage.

    Damn. These were the days.
Eazy, Biggie and Pac were still with us.
Jay was untouchable and sounded so young. Big L couldn’t be fucked wit either.
Hip-Pop hadn’t even been thought of yet. Rap was still that thing parents didn’t want their kids to hear.
    Classic, timeless, legendary…
If I could go back to these days I would. :(

    And Nicki ahead of J.Cole.

Kanye is my favorite artist too man.. but just cause he says Nicki Minaj has the chance to be the greatest ever, doesn’t mean you have to listen.

  16. DunkDonDaDa says:

@ mac diesel no disrespect to big l but if he had lived after signin with the ROC he would have taken dame dash and camrons side and that would have set the stage for a HOV vs BIG L battle with every1 going back and fourth about who won just like jay and nas

  17. Bangers N Mash says:

Wow this is amazing. Where did this go?

“The rap game turned lame, when we first heard lil wayne, just cause these 12 year old girls went insane” – some underground toronto rapper I heard freestyle lol

RIP Big L. Much, much respect. Hip hop misses ya.

  18. B-Cat says:

WTF HAPPENED TO JAY-Z? Where did his flow go?

  19. lord sear says:

  25. Diaz says:

Heard this a couple times before nasty! Big L is a beast if hes not in your top 5 you are stupid or deaf. He had such an ill ass flow no beat is needed to make your head nod to this. What I gotta ask is was this really off the top? Or a classic “freestyle” cuz if it was off the top its not even fair.

  26. UTD says:

    Respect big l

  27. Jherb334 says:

Both of them niggas murdered dat!

  28. LAtraffic says:

Classic. Damn…where did the game make a wack ass left turn?

  29. Slummy says:

Whew! Even your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper has pulled SOMETHING from Big L. He truly was one of the greatest! Jay killed it too. But he couldnt hold candle to L. Classic shit right here…

  30. bullfrog24 says:

its so refreshing to see people on rap radar not hating on one or the other.

The greats 4real! Don’t get it twisted tho dudes been spittin writtens you heard so don’t knock it

  35. JCM says:

This should be on everyone’s Ipod. This is one of the most memorable freestyle’s that came out of WKCR. Bobbito & Stretch are a big part of Hip Hop history. Even though the extended version doesn’t have new rhymes it’s the talking that makes it that much more special. Jay Z talking about the drama at the party they were just at and mentioning his distribution deal take you right back to 1995. I miss the 90′s!

  36. No way says:

Big L destroyed Jay. Not even close. Jay sounds like hes nervous. If they battled Jay would have lost.

  37. HipHop111 says:

which lines are new sounds same to me

  38. Haters says:

People who are dead are all the best to you people because they diued and you all have some stories of how they would have been the best… and still run rap… face facts, if someone dies, what they could have been dont matter, yes Big L was good, but you cant compare 2 albums with 11… BIG was great you still cant companre 2 albums with 11… when Jay Z dies, and the MEdia says he was the best, God fearing and thee GOAT you all will be saying the same… what a pity…

  39. dunny says:

WHAT THE FUCK BEAT IS THIS???????
