’10 Disappointing Albums: #1 Nas & Damian Marley Distant Relatives

When was the meeting when the hip-hop nation got together and decided that we wanted Nas to make an album with one of Bob Marley’s sons. I didn’t get the memo. What’s next? Cormega & The Melody Makers? Although many praised this album when it was released last May, ask yourself the last time you actually took the time to listen to this. No real replay value. This project still feels like a comfy blanket Mr. Jones hid under while he battled the personal and professional dramas of the past year. Great art is made from adversity as Kanye’s MBDTF attests, let’s hope the fiery Nas found on the last verse of “Strong Will Continue” prevails in the new year and preachy slop like the Joss Stone and Lil Wayne-guested “My Generation” goes that way. We don’t need world music from one of hip-hop’s finest. We want more boom bap like you can find here. Let’s go Esco!

  3. Yooo says:

I can’t decide which is more retarded – this being #1 as the most disappointing album, or WACKaflocka’s being #1 as the most underrated album. You people are talking so much shit lately, you’re gonna make me want to turn back to allhiphop if shit doesn’t imporove soon.

  4. mdot85 says:

Dag another one imma hafta disagree wit..I feel like this may have been a really slept on album..from content to quality to sound I believe the accomplished what they set out to do..I don’t think it was created to sell a ton of copies but these 2 really had something to say and for them to do it from a diaspora point of view is something that a lot of the youth..and adults need…I can’t really see how u would call this whack and then say Waka was the most underrated..to each his own..but this was one of my top 2010 albums..not my fav but it makes my top 10

  5. ronnie-moe says:

For the record, “Tribal War” is greater than any song in Waka’s career…..

  14. hec1979 says:

Blasphemy you guys really bumped your head on this one, so many other albums deserving of #1 you choose this? This was a very solid album.

  17. thehiphopspot says:

wow. this is the most overrated and waka flocka is the most underrated??? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA wow. talk about favoring the mainstream over the underground. waka flocka has NO knowledge in any of his songs. on top of that his lyrics are some of the weakest ive ever heard. k rino annihilation of the evil machine was by far the most underrated album.

    k rino – the epitome
    k rino – paper hound
    k rino – duality

  18. belly says:

its pretty obvious rapradar just wants hits, and postin shit like this will cause it, i bet at least 100 comments on this post

  19. What the hell? Too early to be aprils fools right…you do know that??? This is one of the best albums on 2010 to me…Sonically different than any other hip hop album that came out. Production wise, it held its own, stood out and away from any other album that came out in 2010. Lyrically…wtf…it’s Nas and Damian Marely..speaks for itself. Also just the message, social content and substance that this album has…Me and my lady still listen to it..and it has never gotten old. It’s one of those album that’ll always be relevant due to the subject matter and grown content of it. You missed your mark with this one being the most disappointing…and that’s a disappointment in itself.

  20. productofme says:

yo, YN, you just lost mad respect on this one. if anything this should have fallen under the most underrated albums of the year. Distant Relatives is in my Top 3 releases of 2010.

Honestly, it needs to win a Grammy. They couldnt have made the collaboration any smoother than what they delivered. its a classic album

  21. Joshua says:

IS THERE A HIP ELITE THAT DECIDES WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR? I GUESS YOU HAD NO PROBLEM WITH JAY-Z AND R.KELLY PUTTING OUT TWO ALBUMS DURING YOUR DAYS AT XXL

  22. Nas Disciple says:

Aye, ya’ll some wack ass niggas @ Rap Radar, man. How the fuck is this the most disapointing album of ’10?

What exactly did you all expect from this shit?

Where is Nicki or Drake’s album? They both where hyped the fuck up and failed to meet expectations.

A whole bunch of faggotry going on with you niggas.

  23. MoonMen says:

Agree with both lists.Nas better fuckin step his game up and make something better than that bullshit distant relatives

  24. KILLA QUEENS says:

YN, you a faggot!!,i listen to a song from that album every day since i bought it. you probably dnt like it because hey used too many big words for you. you a dumb nigga,DR is more than an album its educated. go educate yourself dumb nigga!!

  25. Thank Me Hater says:

@YN But you support Rick Ross though….soooooo insert yourself in the black out or you played yourself section

  26. m says:

Speak for yourself I had this album on repeat for a while

  27. FuckYou says:

All the Nas stans got butthurt over this list.Man fuck off with that.
    Distant Relatives was wack,straight up

  28. Andoi says:

Strongly disagree, album is fucking great, what have you been smoking?

  29. KidKalig says:

Y’all can argue but it’s true. Niggas expect a LOT from Nas and don’t expect shit from Wakka Flocka. That album sucked balls.

  30. elliot says:

    are you serious
like one said:::::: its pretty obvious rapradar just wants hits, and postin shit like this will cause it, i bet at least 100 comments on this post

this site is losing its credibility

  31. reallyb says:

    fuck buying albums

  32. Thank Me Hater says:

All the niggas saying distant relatives was wack are the same niggas that sit up in their rooms and listen to stanky leg on repeat. The album was at least decent on lyricism alone. But what am I saying? This is the age of no substance and hot beats See: (Syllables ft Em, Jay and those other niggas)

  33. happy new year haters! says:

Yn I can’t ride with u on this one. Nas and jr gong made a classic in my eyes. I was able to put a few of my white friends onto nas after lettin them hear the album. I think this album might have been the most under rated album in MUSIC last year. They had some of the realest lyrics on that album and beats are fire ( I like rasta music). I still get spliffed to this joint, leaders is my anthem.

I like street nas, no one does it better, but real talk nas will always be equally welcomed in my stereo until he falls off lyrically.

  34. Stroydnaire says:

I bet if Rick Ross/Drake/Wacka made an album with Sean Paul you guys would get an instant erection! C’mon Son! This post gets the dillz!!!!

  35. NotoriousRambo says:

**BITCH SLAPS YN** RAPRADAR IS BECOMING JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE BLOGS SMH

  36. Sudija says:

this is the best album of 2010

    wtf u talkin about?

  37. FuckRR says:

you can’t be serious……fuck this site, bunch of bullshit, i’m leaving to HNHH

  38. KILLA QUEENS says:

@FUCK YOU and KID Kalig, whats said about this is that yall didnt get the message from the album. you guys rather listen to the same shyt than recieving knowledge.

I am writing this post from college, yall dumb biggas probably writing that shyt from yall momz basement. grow the fuck up and educate yaself.

  39. Lawl says:

    Preachy slop>>>>Waka Floppa

  40. thehiphopspot says:

im never coming to this website again, the worst part is some people believe these bullshit lists. pathetic.

  41. It's Clear says:

Now I see why that nigga YN doesn’t like Lupe. He represents the future of real hip hop. smh. @YN Sittin in that fuckin interview with your corny ass saying Ross was dope. I hope you get hit by a bus, stick to the side of it like a cartoon when nobody is on it so there won’t be any stops.

  42. mattkoch01 says:

    Hip Hop Blogs Is Dead

How is this the most overated album while Waka Flaka is the most underated album, some serious problems on this joke of a blog

  43. ESCO says:

What a bunch of FUCKING BULLSHIT.

Seriously, this just got me angry.

For a website like this, one of the biggest rap websites in the world to on one day encourage the listening of Waka Flocka (which is fair enough whatever), and then discourage Nas’ album is a fucking disgrace.

Seriously, it’s not even about Waka.

To say that Nas’ album was disappointing is so wrong that it actually tells me you’ve got an agenda, because it’s so FAR from the truth, it’s not even an opinion, it can’t be because it’s so wrong. It’s almost like trying to argue that grass is blue and blood is green, you just know it’s wrong, even if Stephen Hawking argues it. And trust me YN, you’re no Stephen Hawking.

Lost a lot of respect here, trust me. A lot.

  44. Thank Me Hater says:

@mattkoch01 I mentioned earlier that this is bizarro world. You got niggas dissin jeezy and supporting Ross. The world is upside down. How do I get home?!

  45. Haze SHK says:

Wow RR was correct till now, are you fuckers stupid? This is what hip hop was! It stood for pride in where we came from! And ya’ll niggas dont even got deandre way up here? SMFH

  46. Sincere973 says:

I usually don’t agree with Elliot Wilson on most Hip Hop things…but he gets my stamp of approval with this one! Nas next album is going to either catapult him into the future/re-energize his career or unfortunately whether you will admit it or not… his career might be finished! My biggest pet peeve with rappers is not following 2 codes you should never break… #1 If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! #2 Yes you do make music for the fans! Nas broke both those codes after Stillmatic was released! He’s my favorite lyricist hands down, and I believe the best writer of modern time… And he has more talent than most MC’s could ever dream of, including Hov… but he’s been the biggest disappointment of any great MC we have! How many more projects are going to be put out without the production of Premier? Pete Rock? Large Pro?… Say what u want, but these legends bring out the best in Nas! He’s better than 99% of MC’s on a shitty beat, but you get him on the right soundscape, and he’s better than everybody!! How many more albums are going to be soo deep, that it requires you to have your thinking cap on for the entire album? I’m not making fun of him… but I’m being dead serious! Nas kills himself by trying so hard to do things different from everybody else. I don’t want some overly deep album from Nas…I just want him to give me an album with hard beats, and ill rhymes…and just relate to me as a man! He has done it before…but this is an industry of what have you done for me lately! And it’s his time to decide if this is the end of the road for him. Look at Ye & Hov right now… the music they will put will be dope, not immaculate…but the point is… They are active…they are generating interest… Nas has 0 buzz with the exception of his die hard fans…and even his die hard fans are losing interest in his music! That’s not good!

  47. WORD !!! says:

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME YN……!

HOW IN THE FUCK THIS ALBUM WAS A DISAPPOINTING ALBUM….!

I BET RELAPSE WAS THE FUCKING ALBUM OF THE DECADE HUH, YN….?

    GTFOHWTBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  48. cmyers says:

goodbye rap radar u are bunch of morons this album is a fuckin masterpiece and real hip hop is dead thanks to ass clowns lke u

  49. ESCO says:

oh yeah, and you FUCKING cocksucker YN, you try to justify your agenda by saying it has no replay value.

yeah? have a lot at youtube stats of some of the popular tracks from this album. such as Patience, Strong will continue, Africa must wake up etc. they’ve been consistent ever since the album was released. Patience (without) any video clip alone has more views than Waka Floka VIDEOS on youtube. Patience was also featured on Entourage as one of the credit songs, which for any fan of the show would know they only pick incredible songs considering there’s only 8 eps a year.

You know what, in 5 years time, in 10 years time, in 20 years time, people will still be listening to this masterpiece. And you will only then learn your lesson, the problem is that you’re so pathetic, you won’t even care. That’s why it sucks. This is why the world sucks.

You fucking leech. How fucking dare you.

  50. SMH says:

‘We don’t need world music from one of hip-hop’s finest’. Go listen to illmatic then you retard. hov said it best: “niggas want my old shit, buy my old album”

  51. HIP HOP IS DEAD....! says:

HIP HOP JUST DIED THIS MORNING IT’S DEAD……IT’S DEAD……!

  52. Ice Cold says:

I agree with you YN, nas could of done Better

Yo rapradar are y’all going to do a top albums list of 2010, or is that to controversial for y’all. HA! *YN voice

  53. KILLA QUEENS says:

@sincere you are a dumb nigga thats why u cant fuck with nas, how many times you gonna listen to wack rappers talk about materialistic shyt and lying about their lifestyle. Nas gives you real shyt nigga, go eduate yaself faggot!!

  54. Detroit Daily says:

Dude you lost all credibility with this review…. Yellow journalism at its finest!

  55. ESCO says:

So what we know about YN, the little ugly fuck.

He likes (and shoves down our throat):

    Rick Ross
    Nicki Minaj
    Waka Flocka

Doesn’t like (and has a clear agenda against):

    Nas
    Lupe Fiasco

Wow. You’re a fucking disease. You contribute ever so slightly to the death of hip hop and the art that we as a people died for to create, and got through all those hip hop senate inquisitions. Fuck you.

  56. QB says:

    @sincere

you know when someones talking shit is when they generalize and say “we, they, them”

    stfu

you don’t know shit about nas’ fan base, or what interests us and doesn’t.

    this was a dope album.

  57. EasyStylez says:

What’s sad is I saw this post, read the review and was like “Ok, wtf”

then scrolled down and saw the Wacka post and damn near threw my laptop on the floor like REALLY tho???

    This Can’t be life.

  58. Mars says:

    WHAAAAAAT?!

Yo I listen to Patience like every day that’s my ANTHEM.

    LIVE SHOW WAS DOPE.

    RAP RADAR TRIPPIN.

  59. 106 says:

I cant believe this. You must have never listened to this album… This isn’t fully a hip hop album but it was the best MUSIC we got all year. This makes me wonder about this site “do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it”

  60. Mars says:

YA’LL GOT WAKA’S ALBUM AND THIS MIXED UP.

    REAL RAP.

  61. BIGRED says:

I disagree as well. I thought the album was OK and I’ve heard from people that the live shows were great. I mean there are some joints on here that didnt really jump off but I think Wu-Massacre was the most disappointing of 2010. Our Dreams and Mef vs. Chef 2 were solid records but the album as a whole was not what I was expecting. I thought that album could of been so much better if Def Jam didn’t rush this album like they’ve done countless times for the last 2 years because they want that pop music money now. Need to go back to the essence.

  62. ESCO says:

oh yeah, and for anyone here with a brain, it’s so obvious that if Nas actually give a leech like YN an interview for his shit magazine, then this wouldn’t be listed here at all.

Just try and deny it YN. Try and deny that you fucking bitch. You know you can’t.

  63. pause says:

Rapradar, no offense, but u just lost maaaaad credibility for this one, everyone who I know who heard this was digging this, its a very good album…I know Yn ain’t agree wit u

  64. jacobjones says:

I was a little dissapointed with the album myself at first but its grew and grew on me and i listen to a coulple of tracks every day.

  65. Mars says:

DISTANT RELATIVES was ALBUM OF THE YEAR

Across the board, not Rap album of the year, ALBUM of the year

  66. Belize says:

What the fuck??? That IS one of the most underrated albums of all time. Thanks for letting us all know you have no taste, @YN. Da fuck???????

  67. gerold says:

YN are you for real.. Are you really for fucking real. That Nas and Damian Marley was one of the best album of the year… Something that is actually saying something with dope beats…

You lost touch with the pulse of good Hip Hop music, don’t get caught up in the hype like everyone else .. While Kanye’s album was solid this does circles around Kanye’s Album.. I played this album last week more that I played that Kanye’s new Ablum, which while has solid production is lacking in the lyrical department, it has little substance plain and simple…

SMFH and we wonder why Hip Hop is shit, it is because the people with the voice and the control have no vision. So Waka Flacka album which basically sounds like one long as song is the most underated album, while Nas Album that has dope music, dope lyrics, and a good message is disappointing..

I guess this is subjective and its how you feel well I feel like You my friend are a fucking Idiot plain and simple… Dude i had some respect for you, but I guess you just lost one

  68. jacobjones says:

Rap radar you have lost mad respect, internet traffic hunting like this. Next time just post Eminem takes a shit if you want easy views, dont comment on hip hop again.

  69. 106 says:

And the Waka Flocka shit??? Real hip hop dudes wouldn’t even look at that CD much less listen to it.

  70. guest says:

Wow sometimes I forget this site is just a bunch of dudes with an opinion…..I can find a person from any race who loves this fucking Album….it’s well produced, well written lyrics…..nah you lost for this one

  71. puerto-black says:

    WoW. I disagree

  72. p.dom says:

Niggas done went full retard at Rap Radar today!! LOL!!

  73. WaBoogz says:

If Nas makes another new album with a deep concept to it, socially aware to the 10th power… Than it’s a wrap for him! If Nas makes another album and the Production credits look like this… Salaam Remi, Stargate, Polow Da Don, Eric Hudson, Stic Man, Alex Da Kid… than he is done! How many years is it gonna take for him to realize, nobody wants to hear him do that anymore!!!!! Nas just needs to be a normal nigga for once again!! We want Stay Scheming not We’re Not Alone! We want Live Nigga Rap not Louis Farrakhan!

  74. Money Mitch says:

    Damn yn stay sucking jay

  75. NovemberEnd says:

ask yourself the last time you actually took the time to listen to this. No real replay value.
    ^^^^^
    valid point

but the Nas hate on this site w/ the constant swinging from Camel/Kanye sack is fucking disgusting.

  76. Don One says:

i aint gone lie tho, that lil cd is a jammer. my sister had that ho on just this weekend, listened to it from the bumper to the grilla. no lie (lazy eye), whoever said it was the most disapponting album was obviously hating, u know, cause, looking at it, nas and a marley, you would think its gone be jammin and that bitch jammin…soo..idk wtf whoever is talkin bout, the cd met all my expectations..thas that bs cb was talkin bout

  77. I understand that sometimes as a blogger/radio-personality/whatever, we get so much content we want to add our 2 cents on that, it is easy to go off on and lose your otherwise reasonable sanity.

As an African, I was biased, in naming this my top 10 Albums of 2010.
As an African – who was raised around reggae (and later hip hop), who also appreciates the art of Kanye’s masterpiece, I simply can not understand what you mean when you say songs like “Dispear”, “Land of Promise”, “Leaders”, and “Strong Will Continue” have “no real replay value”.

You’re partially right, great art CAN BE found from adversity. But when it carries the spirit, feelings, aversity and soul of an entire peoples, I dare you to argue that it’s not truly GREAT.

You’re smarter than this review, and it sounds like you simply scanned the album looking for “Made You Look”, or “Ether”. For your own sake, readjust.

Kanye’s latest piece would SUCK if what you’re looking for is a “College Dropout”…or a “808s and Heartbreaks”. A Basquiat, sucks if you’re looking for a Picasso.

    You’re a smarter than this review #FAIL

  78. jacobjones says:

    fuck YN stupid chink

  79. SERIOUSLY... says:

I come to the realization that when it comes to NaS…the hip hop media will never give him his props because he is just too pure for this fake ass industry! These industry people are paid puppets…any man that runs to expose another man’s personal marital issues on the radio can’t possibly be respected or have his opinion taken seriously! Stay BLESSED NaS! Distant Relatives…one of the GREATEST albums of 2010!

  80. DSZ says:

nas album classic good but def jam sucks

  81. DAREALDAS says:

    WTF!!!!
U MUST BE KIDDING ME RIIGHT!!!!???????
wtf is wrong with whoever wrote this shit right here…
    DISTANT RELATIVES is a classic…
fo def one of the most underated albums of 2010!!
get the fuk outa here with this bullshit!

  82. Crooks says:

I said it earlier in regards to the Lost Tapes 2 posting…..this wack ass dude Eiliot Wilson is always hating on Nas…..c’mon son ( Ed Lover voice )……and you’re from Queens, c’mon son…….the album is very consistent, it has a signature sound from the beginning to the end……who else but Nas can make a whole album about one topic?…..another lose for Rap Radar…..

  83. not fucking around says:

FUCK YOU YN, ILL PUT MY DICK IN YOUR MOUTH YOU LIL HO… TO ALL YALL AGREEING YALL CAN GET A FAT DICK TOO… NAH MEAN?

  84. WaBoogz says:

The comment section on here shows that alot of niggas don’t know shit about Hip Hop… Stop being bitch ass niggas and be honest! I bet to alot of ya’ll Nas shit smells good doesn’t it??? Shit is an experimental album, charity album… doing a good deed, but stop fronting like ya’ll Nas to be on some deep shit every album… Fuckouttahere with the Stannery!

  85. dan says:

    Thats it..

Distant Relatives most disappointing and Fucka Flocka most underrated?

    I’m done with this website

  86. you’re losing it Elliot. Losing it.

  87. Joshua says:

@SINCERE973 YOU MUST WORK FOR RAPRADAR. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO THINK WHEN LISTENING TO RAP IT IS PLENTY OF OTHER ARTIST OUT THERE. TO CRITIC A MAN FOR BEING A DEEP THINKER SAYS MORE ABOUT YOU THAN NAS. I LIKE MY IGNORANT RAP BUT I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR ARTIST THAT WANT TO EXPAND THERE MIND

  88. happy new year haters! says:

    @sincere973

I agree with some of your post, but if u can’t relate to distant relatives as a man, maybe you aren’t one yet. It sounds like you want nas to dumb down to make some extra $ and be on hip pop countdowns like 106 and park. I’m with you on the pete rock, premo, and dre beats, I also agree with yn on wanting the boom bap nas back, but to act like nas didn’t do his thing for hip hop on distant relatives is ridiculous. If the lyrics from distant relatives, power pussy and paper, and snitch alibi are a signal of things to come from nas on his next solo album I bet he gets y’all love back.

  89. mikey says:

    YN a JAY-Z STAN

  90. Thank Me Hater says:

    @WaBoogz I’ll listen. Explain yourself

  91. mexi-CAN says:

    ROTFL
These faggots mad cause of what we said about their nasty taste on Music.
*checks calender* is it April 1st?
    No…..
these dudes obviously must be fucking Hiiigh or got paid to fuck around.

“as we enter” was just fucking banannas!!!
and…SMFH *sighs* I use to look up to this site for REAL hip-hop feedback, not anymore….

  92. fuck you says:

I have never commented on here before, but lately you’ve been acting like retards. you managed to top it of with naming this as the most disappointing album and flocka’s as the most underrated. I am done with this site. seriously. And how are you gonna diss kanye’s style? He is bringing new shit, and he is really a rock-star. fuck you

  93. Nasty B says:

Wow. Is this a joke? I mean yeah, music taste is subjective, we all like different things etc. But how the fuck can any fan of hip hop rank this as #1 dissapointing album? If ANYTHING, this drop is probably one of the most underrated albums of 2010… shit needs way more attention.

    rapradar is really losing it.

  94. real hip hop my ass says:

this site is shit now. No longer interested in real hip-hop. only that flocka/gucci/lil/young- bullshit

  95. YELLONIGG says:

So let me get this straight………………………………………..

You think Fake ass RICK ROSS has one of the best albums this year but not Distant Relatives????????????????????????

Homie…. Nas & Marley delivered on this one, I’m guessing being mixed with w/e you are got you all culturally confused.. but this cd is the truth

    HATER!

  96. tr says:

I completely disagree with this choice. Was actually one of my favourite albums this year.

  97. cokane says:

I rarely ever comment, and after seeing this I can’t fucking believe what I’m reading. I actually considered RR credible, not after this bullshit

  98. tr says:

Damn, why am I not surprised YN posted this?

  99. Ricsipop says:

IDIOT RAPRADAR IDIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOT . THE RAPRADAR CAN SUCK MY DICK. THAT WAS THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR . RAPRADAR IDIOT BITCH, YOU LOOSE MY RESPECT IDIOT RAPRADAR. YOU DONT KNOW NOTHING, I WILL EVER AGAIN COME TO THIS SITE BECAUSE YOU IS A FUCKIN SUCKING IDIOT . THE RAPRADAR STUFF CAN SUCK MY DICK . LOL THIS IS THE LAST HIP HOP SITE ON THE WORLD IN MY EYE

  100. YUNG NATTY says:

the album was not disappointing in the sense that you dont feel disappointed after listening to it , it was exactly as it intended itself to be , i think the problem with the replay value stems more from some of our own and lack of ability to connect with the spirituality and pride and subject matter expessed on the album. The movement lately is to make more happy music even if its trash.

The stick it in the deck bump it for 2 months straight type replay value is not there , but you dont feel like you wasted your money or got ripped off , and i think thats the idea that you kinda expressed as if to say you listened to it and felt like you wanted your money back and i dont believe that is the case.

I dont disagree that it has issues with replay value , but i dont agree it was a disappointment either.

  104. yprichb says:

I’m glad to see so many people disagree with this decision by RR. They are on something to call this a disappointment. I’m not sure what anyone expected from this album. If anything I think people expected this album to be a disaster. Come to find out it was pretty damn good and I was very pleased with the outcome. They definitely called it a disappointment to get some comments cause otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

  128. Ryuk says:

Man YN, you really dropped the ball on this one. Your mug really belongs in the ” You played yourself ” section for this. Who asked for this album? Only every fucking person on planet earth. Most of us had been waiting on this album since we heard Road to Zion. FAIL on your part sir. FAIL indeed.

  129. GetMoney says:

You’re joking right? This was one the best album this yr.Rap Radar must be dessporate for comments.smh

  130. fuk.i.care says:

    @jaymall

please explain how DR didn’t live up to expectations if like 98% of the comments on this are saying that it was a great album. that sounds like it lived up to most people’s expectations.

what more did Nas have to do so that DR not be a “disappointment”?

  131. Boy says:

clearly they switched the two between This and Flocka’s award

Yo i was bangin “The Promised Land”, when i connected to the website and saw this shit.
    What the hell?
What was so bad about this album? No replay value?
Man I’ve been playing this album since it came out, I’ve been listening to “strong will continue” and “As we enter” before the album came out.
Sure I’ve listened to other music at the same time frame, but i’ve come back to this album, BECAUSE IT WASNT A DISAPPOINTMENT, this post was a disappointment.

I have respect for this website, but this is something I heavily disagree with, im sure there are people listening to this album as I write this shit.

@Sincere973, I agree with alot that you have said man, I dont know what nas has been thinking, but I can say this, that I have listened to nas from 98, from Illmatic, and I have enjoyed every album he has released, even the ones people toss in the garbage (Nastradamus, I Am…, N****r Album, The Firm). And I Have many friends who feel the same way, I think there are more people like me and my friends. But that might just prove your point even more, the fact that he has loyal fans, and so he needs to repay his fans with top noch producers that bring out the best in him. Premo, Pete Rock, Large Prof, L.E.S., Salaam Remi. And from what I’ve read, hes making song with Premo, and he has called Pete Rock as well.

  141. Pepeto says:

  179. sway-z says:

I just want to know where all you Nas stans be at when he drops his shit? On the internet you niggas seem at least 800,000 deep, no matter what website it is. All I hear is how you anticipate his shit, how much better he is than every other rapper alive (or dead) and how his next joint is going to change music for the better. Then it comes out, and it’s church mice? All that energy you direct on blogs and shit you need to direct to the fucking store.

On another note though, YN is right, at least to me, it was underwhelming for the talent involved. There’s definite cuts on there, Patience & Friends is my joints, but overall, it wasn’t what it could have been, which=disappointment. Deal wit it.

  180. KanyeSmug says:

  188. MKvsDC says:

HEY! YN. Maybe you should be in the You Played Yourself on the main page.. cause u just lost this website’s credibility with this post.

  189. Konver5ation says:

    This article is ridiculous….

The album is uplifting hip hop music, good production, and current relevant topics.

Go back to jammin Drake if you don’t respect this music project. Trash opinion honestly.

  190. Hood says:

THIS is the last straw, im done with this fucking website, you praise waka flocka and disrespect nas and damian marley you are a disgrace to music as a whole

  191. TopBananas48 says:

YN on must be doing lines with Kid Cudi saying some sh^t like this. FOH!!!

  192. Ray says:

Man I use 2 B on All Hip Hop & someone put me up on RR stating that it was better guess I have 2 go 2 knock him cause this site is WACK!!! How they going 2 say Distant Relatives was disapointing. R they serious. Nas is real Hip Hop not this fake Waka Flaka or SB or all these other so called hip hoppers!!! Nas is one of the only real Hip Hop artist left in this game. I’ve been rocking with Nasier since Illmatic drop. It was actually my first album I ever purchased & thanks to that album it made me fall in love with Hip Hop!!! I’ve never been disapointed with any Nas album. People who tnk these albums by Nas R wack is bcause they dnt know about Knowledge so go 2 School & try 2 get sum!!!

  193. QUEENZ says:

YN aint you from Queens? SMFH. this is treason in my book

  194. ARon says:

all you nas stans are crying like babies. open up your fuckin ears, this album was a total disapointment. nas supposed to be greatest lyricist but he just makes some bad choices musically. he needs a team behind him to make better decisions. i expected a lot from this album, and was left bored and unentertained. all you stans are whining and you know its true, just bc its NAS and DAMIAN MARLEY doesnt make it a good album whatsoever. it was ok but totally disappointing. quit making excuses that YN “doesnt know rap and blah blah blah”. shut the fuck up and demand more from your favorite artist. aka Lost Tapes 2???

  195. Wait so Waka > NaS & Damien Marley. You guys gotta be fu.cking kidding me. That’s like me saying Sarah Palin > Obama for President. GTFOutta here.

But anyway..YN c’mon son..like really come the FUCK ON son! idk who pissed off the internet more, MTV for not putting Em on Hottest MC’s of 09 or YN putting Distant Relatives as the most Disappointing album of 2010. Smmfh I’m sorry YN but get Hov’s nuts out ya mouth, If Hov would have said this was his favorite album of 2010 then you wouldn’t have put it on here.

I mean seriously you want that “boom bap” shit? Negro did u listen to Nah Mean or As We Enter?

the most disappointing album of 2010 is Pink Friday and YOU KNOW IT!

The only reason why u didn’t put it on here is cuz u want to keep ur contacts with YM..smh

YN honestly u be on rapper’s jock WAAAY too much..From Hov to Ross to Drake to Kanye etc..but you REFUSE to give the real rappers credit…

Honestly, if Paul Rosenberg wasn’t helping ya with the site u would hate on Em too..

And the fact that y’all ranked Flocaveli as the most underrated albums of 2010 proves the point that Em made on Syllables..”It is NOT about lyrics anymore, it’s about a HOT beat and a catchy hook”

  204. bap2313 says:

I’m about to stop coming on this site for the same reason I stopped reading XXL… YN! This guy really is a joke. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I always end up regretting it in the end.

  207. Mr. Busby says:

I think we can ALL agree that YN played himself..

  208. whatever says:

DR Was over many people heads, Hip Hop is truly dead, rapradar is not on my radar thanx for letting me know WHAT U CONSIDER DISSAPOINTING….. WHAT A JOKE CAN I LAUGH NOW?

  209. Chris says:

I know it wasn’t your cup of tea Elliot but a lot of us dug the record.

As far as “hiding behind his problems” he started this record before the divorce and he toured with it for a couple of years.

    smh@ this.

  210. FUCK YOU RAP RADAR says:

i dont wanna waste my time writing shit jus know fuck you for that blog real talk

  211. villain says:

this is an underated album not disapointment if u actually listen to this shit its incredible just cos it didnt do numbers infact when it first came out it got great reviews its only cos no singles and videos and big numbers your calling it a disappointment do you listen to music or do you just skim through it

  212. villain says:

Hey everyone Elliot doesn’t listen to music he just skims through it.

  213. YN eat a bowl of dick says:

    @aRon
i get the feeling that the few books you’ve finished have left you bored and unentertained you simple minded fuck, smarten up.

    @YN
Knock it off. I never took this for a shock site. I know Nas isn’t a media whore, he doesnt hang with the popular rappers, he’s not being ignorant on tracks, or doing all that other cliche bullshit these half of MCs is doing; but when did dropping knowledge on an album equal a #1 dissapointment?

YN is correct, Distant Relatives is not the album that fans asked Nas for; but it is the album Nas wanted to make, and it remains to this day a damn good album. How can anyone be dissapointed at that?

Yn you judged wakka flakkas album for what it was worth, why not extend the same curtesy to Nas and Jr Gong? The goal of Flockaveli was to get you hyped and it did that, the goal of Distant Relatives was to uplift, educate, entertain, and unite, and it damn sure does that. Most of those who copped the album are selling out the tours.

The fans of HIP HOP want the best HIP HOP ( or as yn called it boom bap) producers in the game whom are Premo, Pete Rock, Dr.Dre and Qtip on the best rappers album whom happens to be Nas. Aint nobody in the history of the game fuckin with Nas on those producers beats and we all know it, not Jay, not Em, not Big, not even Pac; and i love those artist. Comparing a fantasy Nas album to Distant Relatives is not fair.

I still fucks with your site YN but im salty at you my nigga, why cast such a negative shadow on a positive album? Nas and Jr Gong didnt give fans what they wanted to hear, they gave us what we needed to hear; and as a fan of hip hop and reggae Im thankful . Yn you played yourself, stop hatin on Nas, you’re better than that, you have to be.

  214. Donn says:

    LOL OK OK OK

ALL THE PPL SAYING FUCK THIS SITE WILL BE BACK TOMORROW, STFU LOL
ITS JUST A LIST RIGHT? Y’ALL SAID FUCK MTV’S LIST, AND FUCK ALL THE OTHER LISTS RIGHT? WHO CARES, IF U LIKED THE ALBUM THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS, DOESN’T MATTER WAT A BLOG SAYS ABOUT IT

  223. llll says:

My man getting get all types of cabbage and tomato thrown at him for this one. This is some Rick Rude heel heat right here lol

Distant Relatives one of my favs for 2010. We gon leave it at that.

  225. puerto-black says:

the sad part is more people commented on this post then bought the album. its a good record BUT when your fans beg you to make a premo/pete rock album or az/nas album, he refuses.

  226. Cory says:

WTF? Whoever wrote this is a moron..Distant Relatives one top5 albums last year..fuck outta here RapRadar.

  227. iHate says:

This was #1 underrated. It was my fav, after Recovery.
But I guess RR is trollin the interwebz

  228. Biz says:

this is a joke right? seriously? Distant Relatives was a classic. Fuck Rap Radar. For real. I’m tight!

  229. damm says:

  230. Curtis75Black says:

YN, just say this is not what you wanted to hear but to call it the most dissapointing album of 2010 is crazy !! Maybe it’s just the payola talking, who knows.

  231. webstar says:

    LOL.

This guy is the biggest Nas hater in the world…and I actually don’t even like to use the word hater.

Hey did Kelis & Tracey help you write this article TOO Elliott? ROFL.

For those who actually LISTENED…Distant Relatives is easily a candidate for best album of 2010.

  233. Realniggashit says:

    WTF U tripping right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  234. Killmatic says:

so, this was a dissapoinment and Flockaveli was underrated? YN, you just lost your credibility.

  235. Hater Patrol says:

    …@YN… Spotted…

  236. Killmatic says:

Rap Radar just went full retard. (Never Go Full Retard)

  237. CK says:

RAPRADAR JUST LOST IT’S CREDIBILITY . PERIOD. I MEAN IF EVER YOU FIND IT DISAPPOINTING YOU CAN … BUT YOU NEED TO CHECK THE OVERALL CRITICS .. EVEN SO WTFFFFFFFFF MAN NOT N°1 ………….OH SHIT NO MOR RAPRADAR FOR ME

  238. Foekist says:

HIP HOP IS SO FUCKING DEAD!!!!!

    I COMPLETELY DIS A GREE

  239. mac DIESEL says:

NAS IS BURNIN’ THE “RESPECT” MAGAZINE ON THE NEXT COVER OF XXL AS WE SPEAK!!!!

….HA!!!! GET YA MIND RIGHT YN CORNBREAD!!!! SUCKA!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  240. Gilad says:

This has got to be a mistake? This is definetly the most Underrated album of the year and should be on most people’s top 5 for 2010. Are you F***ing kidding me? I can’t respect this site anymore after reading this!

  241. Oozers55 says:

So it’s disappointing to hear music with a positive message and depth?? Music that was meant to inspire the world’s youth? I don’t get it, this album was a movement. A revolution in rap. Why don’t you criticize Kanye for collaborating with Bon Iver? You wouldn’t, because it’s brilliant. Just like Distant Relatives is. Nas and Damian undeniably sound amazing together. You’re saying you don’t want to hear “world music” from a rapper? First off, who is rap radar to even advise what an artist of Nas’ caliber should and should not do musically. Nas understands the power of his voice and his influence as an artist. He was just trying to reach as vast an audience as possible with wise and inspirational music. You want the boom pap of Illmatic…don’t we all. but what you don’t seem to understand is that people change and grow over time and those days are behind Nas. RapRadar, smh.

  242. SilkCityP says:

I can’t say this album was the most disappointing b/c I didn’t really anticipate it to begin with! I bought it in support of Nas…It’s not a Hip Hop album! It’s an experimental album, the album itself is pretty decent…they blended Hip Hop with Reggae & African Music! I notice the amount of backlash YN is getting over this statement, and I can understand the backlash…but I will admit even though Nas is my personal favorite MC, he has definitely dropped the ball with his projects in the last few years. I look at Nas as the “Michael Jordan” that chose to not be Michael Jordan! The only MC that has/had the level of skill/talent that Nas has was B.I.G. Do people realize that it’s going to be 10 years this year since Stillmatic came out?? That’s the last time that Nas worked with Premier, Large Pro, etc… After that album he changed everything up as far as the producers he chose to work with, the sound on his albums, almost every album since than has been a concept album or a experimental album. You either got love for Nas for who he is and what he brings to the table or you don’t. But people wanting and expecting Nas to revisit his roots and start working with the Pete Rock’s, Premo, RZA… you are selling yourself short! It ain’t gonna happen!!!! As he gets older his material moves further and further away from BoomBap Hip Hop.

  243. Burnum says:

Ya’ll are way off on this one.

  244. Prince says:

wow, i happen to be one of speechless dude right about now…smh…

  245. Maestro says:

Haven’t listened to Nas in years. No point in it now. He’s reached the point where most of his audience can’t relate to him anymore. 20 years in the game will do that, I guess.

  246. Oozers55 says:

    This is an outrage!!!!

  247. Gary-oh says:

YN, you a faggot, plain and simple. rapGaydar peace out bitch!!!

  248. cmyers says:

this album was the best this year u must be drunk

  249. Jaymalls says:

RapRadar lost all my respect in a matter of 24 hrs. SMH! I knew i should have just stayed on NahRight instead of coming here on my spare time. Fire whoever writing these BULLSHIT Community College “I Just Got My Associates… Im G.O.O.D.” posts!

  250. Peekay says:

Yeah, pretty much done with RapRadar.

  251. Bangers N Mash says:

This is the last straw rap radar. One more fucking dumb move likes this and I’m changing sites.

You got to be fucking kidding me.

  252. dum fucs says:

you know what? this is the last time i log in to this website im out this biatch!!

  253. Bangers N Mash says:

Second though, I’m gone. I’m finding a new fucking site.

  254. epic fail says:

wow just wow so basically that’s how it is now …smdh nah man i’m done with this site 4 good cause if this is the perspective you have on music then it’s disturbing. If you didnt relate then fine but this album was great and the tour as well (international shows and respect fyi and where has Waka been and is known outside the US?) Seriously you’re pathetic say whatever you want but there will never be a day where a Waka Flocka LP outshines anything. What so no “club anthems”? No stuntin? No bitches and ho’s? No wonder HH went down the tubes…this is ridiculous. I guess lyrics and different themes don’t matter here just the same ol isht.

  255. BIG H says:

MORE PROOF THESE BLOGGERS AND WEBSITES HAVE NO FUCKIN CLUE ABOUT REAL HIPHOP

  256. Bolo says:

I have no problem with Distant Relatives being on the “Most Disappointing Albums of 2010” list. Because opinions are like assholes. BUT THEE #1 MOST DISSAPOINTING ALBUM of 2010…, like more disappointing than any other rap album to come out? Ya’ll get a Clay Davis “sheeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiddddd” for that. Nas couldn’t be #1 Most Disappointing if he tried. Hell, even his worst album, Nastradamus was better than over half of of the albums that came out in ’99. This nigga’s Lost Tapes album full of throwaways is better than niggaz whole catalouge. Hip hop aint got no balls no more. And it started when Pac died. No more fuckery in hip hop. Ya’ll done let the powers that be dictate who to like, who to support, etc. Aint no more heart in this shit. Ya’ll should be ashamed of ya’llselves.

  257. epic fail says:

Wait and did this fool say great art is made from adversity like Kanye’s joint?!?!?! DID YOU LISTEN TO THE SUBJECT MATTER RETARD???They talkin about REAL ADVERSITY not no damn toast to a douchebag or one man power isht they talkin about that World Bank power you ignorant jerkoff that worldwide oppression that aint preachy slop IT’S REALITY. Shiiiit you gonna tell me real art is made from adversity and give Kanye as an example GTFOH! You ARE the system a freakin fat cat full of ignorance and feces *puts middle finger up and wishes hackers would unleash binary hell on this site*

  258. Rap Radar you have finally lost all credibility with me to say this was #1 disappointment? LOL Are you guys serious???!!!! This was a masterpiece!! It amazes me you guys rather praise a garbage album like Wacka’s over a emotional and almost spiritual album like Distant Relatives….you guys are in favor of dumbed down music….Hip Hop really is dying

  259. hands says:

This is retarded YN. One of my favorite albums of the year. TONS of replay value. I still listen to this joint. Damian Marley is one of my favorite artists ever, and mostly because of this album. You fail for this.

  260. Bobby D says:

If you think that Nas is dissapointing??? Esspecially when hes got Damian Marley at his side????
Then you need to sell this fucking website and find a new job bro.

  261. QUEENZ says:

Nas and Damian Marley = Most Disappointing
Waka Flocka Flame = Most Underrated

That all equals an EPIC FUCKING FAIL for RAPRADAR, and the shit that kills me is that YN calls himself being a Queens dude but rarely does he salute the King. I’ll never understand the Nas hatred. People say they want Nas on that Boom Bap but when he does that y’all say his beats are wack, when he goes right you say he shouldve went left, when he goes left you say right. WTF do you want from him? When he’s vulgar and gutter you say he sold out, when he’s articulate and intelligent you say he’s preaching. What the haters fail to realize is that you don’t make it as long as Nas has accidentally. Everything is strategic, everything is right on time, even when it seems late. If Distant Relatives wouldve popped on radio and the tv networks you’d ride with it but you think Nas and Dame expected monter numbers and monster sales spitting the shit they did on that album? Did Public Enemy? Did X-Clan, Did Wu-Tang? They’re saying what isnt popular, the road less travelled, the real. I love those brothers and that album but truth be told, I too didn’t like “My Generation”. Other than that I been playing that record straight through since last year and will continue to.

Its so funny that these rappers today scream victory when they go gold and you applaud them, as you should though cuz the game is rough now for everyone but don’t forget the handful of guys still revered today that been going platinum plus. Dont forget Nas in that list, been going multiplatinum. Even when the haters call his shit wack cuz they don’t get it he still was moving millions. Even in this climate hes doing his numbers. Lets be clear, DR was not a hip-hop album, it was not a reggae album, it was a combination of both but, more hip hop driven lyrics over more reggae rhythms so it wasnt expected to smash the charts in the US. The people it was meant for heard it loud and clear and it missed everyone who thinks theyre gonna get a “Illmatic” record everytime Nas drops. Like they get a “Reasonable Doubt” record everytime Jay drops. IMPOSSIBLE people, these men have evolved, they have grown, they arent kids any more!!

  262. v.c. says:

are you fucking high. this was one of the best albums this year. 2 great people doing shit together ya fuck

  263. bomixx says:

    Love this Album.

  264. X29 says:

I been sayin that shit for the longest…that album was wack, and im a huge nas fan. Only songs i really liked was As We Entered and Nah Mean. Unless you really into reggae this is a pretty wack album that you not really gonna listen to much, but i see the stan-ness is in full effect in the comment section here, people afraid to admit a nas albums wack.

  265. Ola says:

    You got this wrong man

  266. casper21 says:

RR go fuck yourselves, just shoot yourself in the head and be done with it, in fact just pick another genre to listen to, ya’ll should be ashamed of yourselves for this.

  267. zubz says:

This album was good but what the fack they talk about africa on the album and nas always talks of africa on his albums … But when its time for the world tour they conveinantly leave all african countries out the schedule , not even south africa … Now that is a fucken hypocrit of you ask me !!! Album was dope though …

  268. Icnivad says:

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ———— > http://yfrog.com/h47dzdyj

  269. MikeNUFC says:

    You are joking right?

I’ve had this album on spin constantly – it’s a masterpiece, everything from the production to the verses to the content. It’s an incredible piece of art.

  270. Icnivad says:

@ MikeNUFC … RapRadar = Trollin ….. they just looking for a buzz on the site i have to believe thats what this is about they CAN’T be serious !!!! – BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo ———— > http://yfrog.com/h47dzdyj – Please share that around guys !!

  271. Tre M says:

this is redicilous this album was good i still bump it in my ipod nas is a genius dont hate on him

  272. nycccccc says:

rap radar is lost….cuz distant relatives sales are not the best dont mean its the most disappointing album. No wonder nas always say he the most crusified rapper….

  273. WADI says:

RAPRADAR YOU FUCKING STUPID FOR THIS ONE ?FUCK YALL DONT KNOW SHIT BOUT MUSIC

  274. Jimmy says:

Hahahahhaha YN Is Having Second Thoughts About This…. I Think He Is More Into Stupid Rap. Same Reason He Shitted On Lupe. You Sir… I Am Now Convinced; DO NOT KNOW HIPHOP. Seems Like Its Back To Illseed and AHH For Me… Or Even SOHH… At Least I Expect Shock Threads There. But This Makes RapRadar Look Incredibly And Utterly Stupid. Waka Flacka Flacaveli Sucked Donkey Dick. And Was A Ignorant Ass Album With 0 Replay Value And 0 Wow Factor. But As I Said You Like Stupid Rap. Nas and Damian Easily Had Album Of the Year Last Year.

  275. Alfie says:

This guy’s tripping on Kanye’s fashion statement so much that he forgot to listen to music last year.

  276. CutZ says:

damn, u need to listen to the album again

  277. Dum fucs says:

    FUCK GAP RADAR!

  278. Hater says:

wow. this album is good…. geek

  279. EsatD says:

mannnn this aşbum was great .. Cmon sON .. WHAT A Joke

  280. Dick Tony says:

you gotta be fucking shitting me.

    seriously.

this album is easily in my top 5 hip hop albums of the year, and might’ve even been number 1 if it wasn’t for “How I Got Over” and “Nineteen Ninety Now”

  281. Del says:

yeah, fuck this bullshit… hip hop is in the twilight zone

  282. Smythurrrrs says:

This is a complete farce the album is one of the best i have heard in years and had the pleasure of seeing them perform over the summer which most of my friends who dont even listen to hip hop sed it was the best show they had ever seen. What are you basing this criticism on?

  283. QUEENZ says:

Damn, i think the vote is unanimous, i can barely find anyone commenting that agrees with YN, tell them why you’re really mad Elliot, i seriously wanna know

  284. Mr.west says:

Are you crazy???? Nas & Damian Marley Distant Relatives Nr.1 ???? Get The Fuck Outta Here!!! I played it Yesterday!!! Now what!!!

FUCK RAP RADAR FOR THIS ONE!!!

    Ps: I love the comments!!

    Power 2 The People

  285. Mr.west says:

How can you hate on this???? Live in belgium!!

  286. Vinny says:

I totally disagree, Nas is a genius plain and simple. As an avid Nas listener, I thought this album was a lot better than most of the shit put out in 2010. Tracks like “Patience” and “Land of Promise” are on point and classics even featured on the show Entourage. Note to Editior, dissing this album NOT KOOL! In fact, this album should be in the top 10 of 2010.

  287. SOSOCHI says:

Disappointing, what the fuck? This one was one of the best albums of the year. I didn’t realize Rapradar relied on Billboard to determine whether or not an album was good. Smh @ YN

  288. Moses says:

Who the FUCK is the retard that put this album here, are you FUCKING serious?

  289. adrian says:

buying cd’s is like voting. if you didn’t buy Nas’ cd then your opinion doesn’t count. typing a 1000 words and having an opinion does nothing for the bottom line.

you guys say you lost respect for this site and you respect Nas. but if you don’t back up your opinions with action; your respect has no value.

this applies to EVERYTHING in life

  290. epic fail says:

I think this is an appropriate sndtrk for the comments :

“Must be dementia, that you ever thought you could touch our credentials, what’s the initials?”

  291. epic fail says:

    @adrian

Well I bought 2 physical copies and the digital one left unopen one for the whip and one for the pod so I can blackout on this retard

  292. Boston George Cape Verd says:

WTF, this was a great album, very powerful, pink friday couldnt touch this album

  293. epic fail says:

    and i’m out.

  294. phraynkhp says:

wow this is some bullshit bet u never saw their show either. distant relatives is a fuckin classic theres no filler straight knowledge and dope songs. this is the same website sayin nicki and em shit is good. get the fuck outta here i never fuckin wit this website againn allhiphop or hiphopdx aint faken the funk like these no soul havin inbreeds. distant relative will remain one of the illest lps to drop this year whether you like it or not because nothing posted on this site is worth a damn. and u can run and tell that biotch. top albums this year in no specific order DISTANT RELATIVES, PILOT TALK 1, PILOT TALK 2, STIMULUS PACKAGE, 24 HOUR KARATE SCHOOL, HOW I GOT OVER, WU MASSACRE, GOTTA BE ME, PLASTIC BEACH. quit trying to dissolve hip hop by forcing mainstream artist on us. just when i thought things were lookin up for hip hop plenty of GOOd new atrist out right now but yall wanna try and make cats like lloyd banks and rick ross relevant to bad they re not tey fuckin suck this is the real.

  295. jugular says:

Definitely slipped on this one. ’10 Disappointing Lists: #1 RapRadar’s wackness (although Cormega & the Melody Makers was kind of funny)

I listen to this album all the time… it has more replay value than BP3. That’s right I SAID IT

  296. phraynkhp says:

this is one of the best albums this year also one of nas’ best albums in years

  297. phraynkhp says:

  301. flying eagle says:

YN, I don’t know what I’m reading !! Most disappointed???! What’s wrong with your ears & mind?
    Strong will continue !!

  302. ZoomZoom says:

LOL THIS ALBUM WAS ASS JUICE PROBABLY THE WORST ALBUM IN HIP HOP HISTORY ID RATHER BUY A ROMEO/ MASTER P ALBUM INSTEAD OF THIS SHIT

NAS IS THE WACKEST RAPPER ALIVE AND HES ALWAYS TAKING L AFTER L……. HE HAD PROBABLY 2 DOPE ALBUMS AND THE REST WAS GARBAGE CMON SON!!

  303. Da Business says:

    SMDH @ RR 4 this 1…

  304. Tz boy says:

You cannot be serious, habari gani nzuri sana do you know how many niggas he touched with that verse ? This album is ahead of its time niggas need to get out of the US sometimes to appreciate this shit!

  305. sway-z says:

Ya’ll bugging, subject matter doesn’t make something hot or wack. Just about every Nas album ever created had some uplifting shit on there, that’s besides the point. The point is, with the talent assembled, the album was disappointing. It wasn’t wack, but it wasn’t as dope as some thought it would be.

Nas is in my top 3, but that doesn’t change the fact that truth is truth. I’ma Kobe Bryant fan too, but when that nigga shoots too much without making shots, it’s time to try something else. Some niggas, like me, prefer the “It was written, Stillmatic” Nas over the recent stuff he’s doing. It really don’t matter if you like it or not, it’s one man’s opinion

  306. HIPHOPHEAD says:

Who da fukk wrote this piece, you fukkin idiot

  307. HIPHOPHEAD says:

Rapradar just lost all credibility and a avid reader

  308. haq says:

    Rapradar LOST, BIG TIME. SMFH

  309. Belize says:

Yall dont trip..this is YN’s MO, he been doing this gay shyt since XXL days. Look @ the 300 + comments..He know Nas album is beyond solid and get replay..but aye, niggas just skim tru music nowadays. Dont trip folks..he just tryin to find a way back into the game that booted him out

  310. webstar says:

Well the album has sold over 200,000 copies so it is POSSIBLE that all 300 or so people who have responded own the album. Simple math…justsayin.

  311. Shaffs says:

What headphones u rap radar niggas use? huh?!

  312. cmyers says:

best album this year why do u guys hate NaS

  313. amazinace says:

YN BUGGIN THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST

  314. Anelka says:

@YN and RR, its obvious u guys are attention whores, its either that or you are clearly clueless n an ignoramus thats in d wrong profession, get a job son. I wonder how DR is dissappointing but still selling out world tours? SMH. BTW, u got ur hits, now kill urself.

  315. AJFNGJJ says:

Deleted my and other peoples comments? Fuck y’all

  316. Juan Keef says:

its funny when people associate positive lyrics and uplifting songs as being preachy…it funny how nas was being dissed during the nastradamus albums and I am albums and people seem to forget most of those songs that were on lost tapes were supposed to be on those albums, and to hip hop heads, most of the songs on lost tapes are classics. his flows and techniques has been more influence than any emcee in my opinion. just delivery alone, no one can touch him. distant relatives grows on you and at first listen it may not grab you, but spark that sour diesel, and it will be very ill…..

  317. Ashley says:

THIS IS SOME STRAIGT UP BS IT SHOULD HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN CONSIDERED AS IT IS NOT
A 100% HIPHOP ALBUM IT SITS IN A GENRE OF ITS OWN! ITS REAL MUSIC…PEOPLE HATING COS NAS HAS THE ABILITY TO BRANCH OUT AND TRY NEW PROJECTS WITHOUT SELLING OUT AND GOING COMMERCIAL! NAS IS A LYRICIST THAT SPEAKS ON REAL ISSUES GOING ON IN THE WORLD THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE CANNOT HANDLE!
NAS IS NUMBER 1 IN MY EYES HES ALWAYS STAYED TRUE TO THE GAME AN TO HIS FANS…HE CAN STILL DROP A MEAN ALBUM FOR THE STREETS AND I BELIEVE DISTANT RELATIVES WAS THE BEST ALBUM OF 2010! I AM REALLY ANGRY ABOUT THIS I THINK ITS DISCUSTING FOR IT TO BE IN THE TOP 10 NEVER MIND NUMBER #TeamNasForever

  318. Ashley says:

THE PEOPLE WHO COME UP WITH THIS SHIT NEED TO BE FIRED!!!!!

  319. Theloneus says:

you know all these comments give me hope for life this album was fire from the peace of count your blessings to the ruggedness of nah mean so basically because hes not telling young black men to pack a nine and stack a dime your saying it was unmusical its media platforms like this ask yourself why tupac was nominated for grammys and even respected by the Vatican but foolish people like waka flaka barely sell even in their own communities because were people with souls who like to be nourished. You should lose your job for this opinion if i was your boss i have a son you see and to hell with him listening to 50 cent I baptized him for a reason not for a season .
