’10 Underrated Albums: #2 Lloyd Banks The Hunger For More 2

Lloyd Banks proved that his eyes weren’t bigger than his stomach with last year’s sleeper, The Hunger For More 2. From the onset, the project curbs hip-hop fans appetites with aggressive production and sharp writing (“Take ‘Em To War,”  “Home Sweet Home”).  Banks continued this approach on tracks like his comeback hit, “Beamer, Benz Or Bentley”, and the star-studded “Start It Up”. Elsewhere, he caters to his female base without losing his edge (“I Don’t Deserve You” and “Any Girl”). It takes more than 40,000 in the first week to recognize that.

  • seemoregan

@round… I guarantee you that Banks has seen more money this year off music than Officer Ricky! It’s all about profit now, sales suck for everybody but Em. Kanye is still not plat after a month and a half. I remember he went plat in 2 weeks.

HFM2 was the 2nd best album to come out this year first being Pilot Talk 2! Banks deliever… G-Unit EMI f*cked up on distribution!

  • folk

  • Yooo

I’m not sure if this deserves to be #2 in the most underrated. It definitely wasnt a classic. It was decent but thats it, IMO. And it still did decent numbers compared to the others on this list.

  • tvr

really? i listen through all of this and thought it was at most a 5.5/10, this guys flow is horrible even yayo is more listenable than him

  • Crown

Damn this was album was indeed slept on makes me wonder whats gonna be number one.

Oh I know, BIG BOI SIR LUSCIOUS LEFT FOOT has to be the number one underrated album of the year.

Well wait…is it slept on albums or underrated? Because it got great ratings, it was just slept on. Sooo I dunno…if its slept on then BIG BOI album is def. number one. Either that or Distant Relatives or How I Got Over…im actually mad not all those albums are on this list.

  • iHate

Not a Classic, but one of the best albums of the year. One of my favs.
Some songs fucked up the feeling of the album. Good trakcs, but not good for HFM2. 8/10
Also, HFM2 had that G-Unit shit that made me listen rap. I was waiting for that sound since 2005. Need a classic 50 Cent/G-Unit album!

  • http://errolgames.com Errol

    Easily Lloyd Banks’ best album.

  • http://threefoureighty.clipz-status.com/ Reasy F.

I haven’t even listened to this yet.

  • Toya

I agree that this was an underrated album. I wasn’t really into Lloyd Banks prior to this album so I was surprised at how many songs on this album that I liked. It really should have received more buzz than it did.

  • Pete from Harlem

Webster’s define underrated as to rate too low or undervalue.

With several very well received songs that made their way unto radio without and publicists help,
and everybody and their mother doing their take on them, yes…to me,that definitely sounds like someone who was underrated.

Mental note: When you have a song,or several, that everyone HAS to remix or add they take on,as to see if they can best the original and make themselves hot, and it don’t really translate over to sales or even accolades…that’s acknowledgment from your peers, then you are underrated.

  • Belize

no, number ONE most underrated you fags.

  • Mishief

People will find any reason to critique a person they already don’t like. Y’all niggas are like bitches .

  • DBLOCK77

EVEN THOUGH I AINT NO LLOYD BANK FAN…BUH I GOT TO ADMIT DIS ALBUM WUSS GURD SO YALL MUAFUKERS BEST PISS OF CUS YOU DNT KNOW WAHT IS HIP HOP

  • Your Friendly Neighborhood Dopeman

Only album I copped last year. Money well spent.

  • Yung Silv

this should be in the top 10 of the year the album was dope as fuck

  • http://www.windowslive.com kendra

i personally think they did the numbers all wrong and need to make another go of it cause lloyd banks has alot of lyrical skills if u asked me…nouf said thou…

  • Big Meats

smh do u fools listen to music or do u just skim thru it…he solidified his position in rap, aside from sales this sh*t was official

  • Kay-eSs

    this album weak!!! and wack
    aint underrated for shit
    start it up & beamer,benz/bently
the only shit proppin’ it up and they aint that hot neither

  • Thomas

Extremely underwhelming for Banks. The “radio” type songs sucked and brought the album down.

  • bigjay2501

Banks been my man since 2002. I always support his albums. This album was solid all around.

  • j.

2 me his album is still a success

  • GTboy

this my pick # 1 .. still on heavy rotation

  • inkpenpimpin

I actually heard banks album over the holidays & its not weak but classic is over the top. EMI is not independent so he took a loss.

  • lol

this should be number 1 or distant relatives to be number 1 thats the only way this album should be 2. WTF waka flaka number 1 fuck with that SMH -_-

  • Del

people throw the word classic around too much these days but HFM 2 was definitely my favorite album of ’10… the good stuff never gets recognition these days

  • Boston George Cape Verd

should have sold more, but its plat in the streets

  • WindyCityG
