Tupac Shakur got these niggas gassed. Take that prison bid and then when you touch the town, hit the studio and soon you’ll be the undisputed #1 rapper. Maybe Wayne will pull this off. But T.I. certainly couldn’t. After his much heralded release, The Kang started last spring to attempt to get his career on track. But from “I’m Back” to his song from Takers (“Yeah Ya Know”) to that horrible collabo with Ms. Hilson (“Got Your Back”), Cliff struggled to gain a buzz and King Uncaged was shelved. But fear not, T.I. would break the law again so you know what that means, let’s get an album out! No Mercy feels as disjointed and rushed as you would imagine. As a lead single, the redemption song with Chris Brown (“Get Up”) was justifiably dismissed. And throughout the album’s few strong moments, Harris is overshadowed by guests like Scarface (“How Life Changed”), Eminem (“That’s All She Wrote”), Drake (“Poppin Bottles”), and Kid Cudi (“Welcome To The World”). I guess the hope is the Christina Aguilera-anchored closer “Castle Walls” will save the day but I highly doubt it. Lock this CD up and throw away the key.

I looked at my c.d. stack from over these past months and besides all of the terrible ass R&B albums released (Ciara, Jamie Foxx, Keri Hilson, Jeremih, etc…) I had to find what hip hop album sucked the most. Lo and behold, it was Clifford Harris’ latest “EFFORT”. Keyword, EFFORT. Shit sucked. This album was bad sex in a plastic package: It was short, rushed, dry, and corny.

Agreed. Heard the album. Nothing special. Best songs are the Kanye joint where Ye steals the show…Get Back Up where it’s pretty much a Chris Brown song Ft. T.I….. Salute with a nice production from Jake One…and poppin bottles where Drake steals the show immediately…Castle Walls has a nice hook from Ms. Aguilera…Everything on Me has a nice Danja club/anthem like beat…but you notice I haven’t said anything about t.i. yet right? see thats the problem

Yeah, I think most disappointing would be more appropriate since this album is obviously better than Soulja Boy, the Wu shit, and a lot of others. But there are higher standards for Tip so it’s a bigger disappointment. That’s why it should be on that list and not this one.

Let me just say I didn’t even give this album the light of day. I knew it wasn’t going to be hot. When King Uncaged was shelved, and then they said they were putting this out, I was like, “Let me just cop the Danja-produced track off the album and forget everything else.” The song he made with X Brown, produced by Pharrell, should have sounded better. & I couldn’t even bring myself to listen to the title track “No Mercy” with The-Dream. Something’s wrong with that statement. How’s the title track on your album gonna feature The-Dream!? The-Dream ain’t hard!
Everything should have sounded better. I understand why this is #1, because we shouldn’t have to expect such a poor showing from a stalwart artist in the game. The problem with T.I. albums nowadays is that they sound like mixtapes. Every track is produced by someone else, and he’s always rapping about something different. His last album with focus was (IMO) 2007′s T.I. vs. T.I.P.
