’10 Best Albums: #3 Eminem Recovery

Bob Marley had it. And now, redemption belongs to Eminem. After leaving fans and critics bewildered with Relapse, he got back to rap and exercised his demons with Recovery. From the opening whistle, Em knocks it out the park. Haunting pianos shield “Cold Wind Blows,” while apocalyptic drums create the backdrop for “Won’t Back Down”. On a lyrical front, Em’s pen is still on point. His signature wit and rapid flows ignite “On Fire”,  lure “Seduction” and push Lil Wayne (“No Love”) . But truly, Recovery’s secret weapon is its universal appeal. Led by “Not Afraid”, Em tapped into a space that he hadn’t been heard in since 2002’s “Lose Yourself”. Later he satisfied his forgetten female core with “Love The Way You Lie.” Too bad haters can’t handle the truth.

Who wants to bet that garbage known as Teflon Don will be #2??????????? JOKE!!!

  2. IAMGOAT says:

    KANYE IS ONE FOR SURE.

  3. Mook says:

This album would have been so much better if Em didn’t have that shitty accent…
Wont Back Down was the only banger IMO

Teflon Don is better and Kanye is obviously #1

  4. Mook says:

Worst single should be “Under Pressure” UGH

  5. mikey says:

this shIt got no replay value.

  6. slimshady says:

HANDS DOWN THE WORST EMINEM ALBUM.

RELAPSE WAS MUCH MORE FUN TO LISTEN TO.

BUT YN AND B.DOT ARE RETARDED, PLEASE CUT THEM SOME SLACK.

  7. SMH says:

ehhhh id say this belongs around #5-#6. wasnt that hot and not afraid was mad homo

  8. a says:

It’s “Lose Yourself” not “Lose Your Self”. Either way, this album was fantastic.

  9. Dashing says:

Teflon Don absolutely deserves to be in the top 2. I’m glad that they didn’t just give Em one of those spots cause Ye and Ross’ albums definitely get more bump in the streets. Can’t knock Em though. This is so good that people are calling it his “comeback” album and choose to forget Relapse…

  10. Ronnie-Moe says:

    Teflon Don > Recovery

The Eminem Super-Stans must be Super-Sick right now…

  11. GabrielBlaze says:

@Mook What accent? He has no accents on this album. You are thinking about Relapse. And Officer Ross? Please. Kanye is dope but Recovery is better than all Hip Hop albums of 2010 IMO.

  12. Thank Me Hater says:

People don’t realize what eminem really did on this album. the only think that was bad abt it was the executive production. also he and dre are meant for each other. we need more doc dre.

  13. amityvilleev says:

That’s bullshit.. If Teflon Don is ahead of Recovery, I’m leaving this site for good

  14. Mook says:

Either way, this album was fantastic.

    ^
Never say fantastic on a rap blog you fucking nerd.

  15. Dashing says:

@ Mook, it wasn’t a single. It was an unfinished song with no damn hook that got leaked.

  16. D says:

I think you can’t handle the truth. Recovery was just not that good. I admit, it has a few bangers on it. You just can’t listen to whole album.

  17. Mook says:

@Gabriel …of course it’s better than any albums released this year in your opinion because you don’t know rap.

  18. freeseven says:

EMINEM NUMBER ONE. RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM. FUCK OFFICER ROSS. EMINEM – BEST ALBUM OF 2010.

  19. Hahaha says:

Didn’t Yn get fired from XXL?
    hahahahaha
    FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!
even if this was Em’s worst album, it STILL shitted on any other rap album out this year!!

  20. Prometheus says:

Yes, Teflon Don was such a banger that it barely sold 500k in 6 months compared to 3+ million copies of Relapse.

Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.

  21. Thank Me Hater says:

@Dashing yall kill me with that in the streets shit. Stop trying to hold rap back. That shit is universal. Take away Ross beats and he’s done. Tell me im wrong

  22. freeseven says:

RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…RUSSIA VOTE FOR EMINEM…

  23. Donn says:

I liked the album better than Relapse,
I get tired of Eminem rapping about sticking shit up his ass and nose and shit. This album was more mature and grown up. All that crazy psycho shit was getting irritating. Music has to grow with the person
And i would listen to the album more if he didn’t sing so damn much, it got kinda annoying.
But i liked like 6 songs outta the whole album
    Don’t hurt me stans lol.

  24. Mook says:

@Dashing…BULLSHIT! It was a single…they leaked it to see if it would get a could response…it didn’t…so they scraped it! No different from artist that change singles to “promotional singles”…(see Young Jeezy’s “Jizzle” and “All White Everything”

  25. Yo momma says:

Kanye shouldn’t be number one he barely raps on his fuckin album! His fantasy shit is fuckin overrated.

  26. Pusha T says:

    Album was trash

  27. Prometheus says:

My only question is whose nuts will RR be on once Officer Ricky’s next album flops harder than Triple Cs and Waka’s ignorant ass goes to jail?????? The suspense is killing me!!!

  28. Big Chump says:

This was my fav album of 2010, if i had to put album infront of this one i would kanye and thas it teflon is not better then recovery to many features. But kanyes album can stand head to head with eminem they both even to me

  29. Mook says:

Yes, Teflon Don was such a banger that it barely sold 500k in 6 months compared to 3+ million copies of Relapse.

Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.

^ Cause white people buy albums. Duh. Eminem has little 10 year old white fans who parents have their credit card connected with their itunes accounts and probably bought the album over and over. FOH you don’t know shit. LOL Kanye is the king of this shit and thats why Em is here in the 3rd spot

  30. D-manded says:

GOD WHY SO MANY RETARDS ON THIS BLOG BUT YEAH EMINEMS RECOVERY RESTORED MY FAITH I THOUGHT HE LOST HIS TOUCH AGYER RELAPSE I HOPE THE NEXT EM ALBUM WILL BE MORE SLIM SHADY BECAUSE HES BACK ON POINT JUST LISTEN TO HIS WESTWOOD FREESTYLE ITS RAW

  31. Thank Me Hater says:

Anyway I agree with Kanye’s Dark Twisted being number one even though i’m not really a Kanye fan

  32. Catcher freeman says:

i think u guys got this list some right em’s album, was not better than telfon don. rozay had fukin bangers though it was short. he was short and to the point. i felt this album had some fillers which kept it from its true greatness

  33. weazel says:

i think Em should get the 2 spot behing Yeezy and Teflon Don should be #3…Ross had BMF, Aston Martin Music, and Free Mason but if u rly listen to ems album i think it has a better overall quality of a hip hop album

  34. Nathaniel says:

    co-sign @dashing.

i’d basically say the same. no need to type tons of shit for the hell of it. ye n ross.

  35. Thank Me Hater says:

@Mook nigga you gotta know that Em has a bigger black fan base than Ross. Believe that

  36. Nadrojj says:

This album was not that dope. I don’t understand why everyone jocked the shit out of it. I’m an Eminem fan, and his last two albums haven’t been worthy of driving my fat white ass to the store to go get. This album is nothing but him whining about how he shouldn’t be here, how drugs are bad how much he’s glad he’s ok. He got one thing right though, at one point on one of the songs he said something along the lines of fuck my last album, i threw that shit in the trash. Guess what, so did I.

Where is the just don’t give a fuck em?
Where is the I’m a soldier em?
Where is the till I collapse em?

Bring that shit back and I’ll be a fan once again, till then keep making wack songs like top back with Nas, another rapper who’s been faking the funk lately.

  37. Prometheus says:

    @Mook

Total cop out argument. Everyone buys albums. Rap is becoming universal now – white, black, yellow, whatever. Statements like those are what holds it back!

  38. Mr.G says:

Yo def a top 5 album but im glad it’s not #1

  39. Mr October says:

@weazel you’re right but the only thing niggas like Mook and Dashing look at is what banging in the street. If you go cadence for cadence subject matter for subject matter and voice control for voice control Em wins. But niggas don’t really wanna go there. Anyone?

  40. GabrielBlaze says:

    @Mook 1. Biggie 2. Eminem 3. Tupac 4. Big L 5. Big Pun 6. Nas 7. Lloyd Banks 8. Jay-Z 9. Big Daddy Kane 10. Kool G Rap … I know Hip Hop. You are right, I don’t know rap.

  41. cli-city.. says:

    This Album Sucked Major Balls

  42. Mook says:

Sales don’t mean shit! Pink Friday sold more than Teflon Don does that mean it’s better? Tha Carter 3 sold more than Tha Carter 2 does that means it’s better? Sales mean nothing take your numbers to another site that actually gives a fuck

  43. Thank Me Hater says:

@Nadrojj this is the most valid argument I’ve heard all day

  44. D says:

Anybody who like MM LP or Slim Shady LP can’t be happy with Recovery.

  45. Ronnie-Moe says:

    White people don’t love hip-hop.

    They just love Eminem.

The buy whatever he puts out, no matter how wack it is.

    Just look at Encore.

  46. Nathaniel says:

    @thank me hater

i seriously doubt that, lol. the masses of black people are huddled up in inner cities and lil areas of metropolitan cities, where the culture is strongest. eminem’s affect on THAT culture is non-existent. ross’s brand speaks particularly to things niggas in these spaces either aspire to, can identify with, or are at least familiar with/hip too.

ems fan base is primarily where ross’s ain’t. which is also where black people are most scarce. whether you bought teflon do or not, if you’re a nigga you couldn’t escape that nigga’s album in 2010.

  47. weazel says:

@MR October i completely agree…yeah teflon don was a good album but because rick ross is “street” (er so he claims) people havent seen a street hip hop album get the recognition as 50’s get rich er die trying and they expect it to be better than ems because he talks about his personal life? em has the syllables, flow, word play, and even the sales and radio over officer ricky

  48. Skeezymak says:

Album of the year, fuck the haters.

  49. Mook says:

NIggas is bragging about album sales thats like me bragging about Em’s albums reviews….Em has a metacritic score of 62…and Thank Me Later has a score of 75…NOW WHAT?

  50. Dashing says:

@ Thank Me Hater, There’s something to be said for people who choose good production and just don’t fuck it up. The lyrics are not the best but he flows over them very naturally.Ross has that skill set. I wish Nas would learn that from him.

@ mook, maybe you’re right (they did the same shit with Kush), but since it wasn’t “official” i can see why it can’t be on the list.

  51. Nathaniel says:

    @mook

albums PURCHASED doesn’t necessarily have to do with how relevant artists are. sometimes niggas just be EVERYWHERE. and the best albums don’t always sell the most records either. just a thought

  52. Cno says:

    @Ronnie-Moe:

I’m white and I love hip-hop with all my heart. And I think Relapse was average. So stop with that bullshit.

  53. Mook says:

Em doesn’t have any classic. I liked SSLP but it was not a classic! It had skippables and so did MMLP. Face it. Em could never make a album like Kanye.

  54. RAP RADAR? MORE LIKE CRAP RADAR says:

    I JUST DON’T GIVE A FUCK!

  55. SMH says:

    @ D co-sign
this album showed ems pussy side haha im tired of hearing hes drug shit
WHATS YOUR ADDICTION IS IT MONEY IS IT PUSSY IS IT WEED IVE BEEN AFFECTED BY NOT ONE OR TWO BUT ALL THREE

  56. Baracka Flocka Flame says:

    Shit was wack…End of story

  57. Recovery > Teflon Don says:

Somebody explain to me how Ross’ almost entirely materialistic album is going to beat perhaps Eminem’s most meaningful.

Oh wait I forgot, it’s not about lyrics anymore. It’s about a hot beat and a catchy hook.

  58. Nathaniel says:

    @mook

or maybe i misunderstood your argument. guess you were quoting somebody. last comment i made redirected at whoever that was, lol

y’all niggas move to fast for me. haha

  59. Prometheus says:

    @Mook

Sales numbers have a direct correlation to what people are listening to because why do we buy music? To listen to it. Higher sales of an album mean more people are listening to that particular artist, therefore their music is more relevant.

  60. D says:

MM LP is better than any Kanye album. I like Kanye’s albums, though.

  61. ben says:

this album was the biggest disappointment of last year.

  62. Ice Cold says:

    @Recovery > Teflon Don

Syllables lol….to me the top 3 is debatable EM, Ye & Ross either way can’t go wrong I liked all three albums

  63. J. O. says:

    @Nadrojj
Nah, hardly any of the albums about that. I’m lookin at the tracklist now, and really the only ones that talk about the drug shit is “Going through changes”, “Talkin 2 myself” and “Not afraid”. Theres 14 other tracks not about that shit. I get what your sayin though, and that Em is probably dead and buried. “Untitled” is my favorite track and thats about as close as we’ll get to the old slim. And I think with all this recent shit he’s been throwin out like the stuff with Royce, on his next album he’ll do more of the old Em. But he’s grown up now and he’ll lose some fans for it, but he’ll gain some for it too.

  64. Mook says:

listen yall i like eminem he’s a great rapper but lets be serious here this was not the best album this year!

  65. Nathaniel says:

ross is lyrical. period. he ain’t as crafty as eminem, but so what? neither is kanye, and his album is obviously better.

  66. jaybee32 says:

@ronnie-moe back sucking rick ross. lets talk about album sales faggot.

  67. Ronnie-Moe says:

    @ Cno

Well, sir, there is a massive amount of white folks who could care less about Hip-Hop music and never even started listening to it until they saw this clown on their T.V.

They don’t support the culture, just the culture stealer..

    And that’s racist, to me…

  68. meezy says:

Lyrically this album was by far the best album in 09/10

  69. LO says:

THANK YOU RAPRADAR FOR NOT HAVING THIS AT NUMBER ONE!!!

  70. GabrielBlaze says:

Officer Ross, Gayne (Wayne), Fake (Drake), Soulja Bitch, Wackka Flocka Flame, Gucci Girl and all them suck! That is not Hip Hop!!!! Eminem, Kanye, Jay (sometimes now), Nas, Banks, B.o.B. and all them are Hip Hop! That’s the music I support and hear!

  71. kcmo says:

all yall braggin bout sales, what was yall cut……. nothing

  72. Cno says:

I agree with that. But that’s America, though.

  73. Coroner says:

I don’t care what ya’ll say… The Best Album of The Year!! Since It came out I can’t stop listen to it!
I know it’s hard to admint but he’s the GOAT!

“but when you spoke of people who meant the most to you, you left me off your list
fuck you hip-hop, I’m leavin’ you, my life sentence is served, bitch and it’s just…”

  74. Ronnie-Moe says:

    @jaybee32

Eminem sniffed Bruno’s balls on live T.V..

    Let’s talk about that….

  75. Nathaniel says:

    @meezy

…iono, jack. that big boi and that reflection eternal were pretty lyrical. that mos def ecstatic and OB4CL and all those ghostface albums too.

niggas be sleeping on ghost. he’s a wizard with the words.

  76. Word says:

uh oh here go the black white argument again

I swear some of yall niggas have ZERO friends or even a life prolly

Half of yall dont even know what goes on outside of your own block, neighbourhood, city, state. Its funny how niggas like can speak for the WHOLE ENTIRE CULTURE as if they the damn spokesperson for this shit. Lmao some of yall niggas need to get some fresh air.

U’m black. Liked Em since Infintite. Liked SSLP, MMLP, Eminem Show, and I like this shit too. Relapse and Encore had some cuts but overall werent that good but this shit right here?? Solid album IMO.

But some of yall need a reality check forreal. Or show me some stats, dont just speak on opinion. @Nathaniel, not even tryna come off disrespectful or anything. Lets be mature about this, cuz you be outspoken about our “culture” a lot so tell me, where are your stats? AND, how you can you speak for our whole culture? Which includes me? Imean, you talking like its FACT that Em simply DOES NOT relate to black people whatsoever. Or correct me if im wrong, and prove it if you can.

Im just saying. This nigga Em got black fans ALL OVER on Youtube, TWitter, Facebook, niggas who BUY his albums. Now majority ARE WHITE thats fact but dont make it seem like niggas dont buy his shit. I do, my homeboys do, I live in a predominately black area in Baltimore black people was bumping his shit when it came out. Seduction, On fire, CWB, No Love, come on. BLACK artist cosign him too. So i dont get it

  77. GabrielBlaze says:

Slaughterhouse is by far No. 1 so far. True Hip Hop right there!

  78. Recovery > Teflon Don says:

    @Ice Cold

I think it’s debatable between Kanye and Em for the one spot, Ross’ album was good but it was mostly the production (which was better on Kanye’s and Em’s) and he’s nowhere near as good of an actual rapper as they are. There were some nice singles on there and it deserves recognition but number two over Recovery is a little much…

  79. Ronnie-Moe says:

    @Cno

    What do you mean, though?

You trying to say that most American White people are still racist?

If you are then I would have to agree with you…

  80. Word says:

Recovery was not the best album of the year by the way, i have stated that numerous times that Big Boi should be #1. So niggas better not refer to me as a stan that just lets me know some of yall have no real arguments.

  81. Word says:

And this shit moving too fast lol

  82. BJ says:

just give em 5 yrs then they appreciate this album smh

  83. roger says:

@bj i cosign that, his next album will be what they where askin for than they wont like it and will be askin for the recovery em, cant please every one. and also cosign word

  84. Jaymalls says:

This shit is an OKAy album @ best. i feel he went the country/rock route with his new RECOVERY sound. Kid Cudis Album > Eminems

  85. Nathaniel says:

    @Word

i never said em doesn’t relate to us. i relate to the man, he’s a human being. a real human being, and i think it’s dope how he (especially earlier in his career) would ride on america in general. i’d dave chappelle race draft the nigga if i could, lol. but i think we’d agree being black is a very efficient way to relate to being black. i ain’t against him, i like him even more cause he’s a white boy who never tried to be anything other than a straight up white boy, who just happens to love rap. shrug*

  86. Nathaniel says:

    @word

i feel what you be sayin though, my nigga. i don’t want us to misunderstand one another.

  87. Cno says:

@Ronnie-Moe: That’s a tough statement to say. But I will say this, some people are like that.

  88. Number1Stunna says:

Flocka and Gucci albums was better than all of these so far smh.

  89. BigBoi305 says:

    Most Overrated, imo…

  90. Ебарь says:

    Eminem is the greatest
    Recovery is a classic
Fuck Ross, Fuck Gayfish, Fuck haters, Fuck everybody
    Eminem still #1

  91. Recovery is great. Fuck off everybody. The whole reason we’re here is hip hop…and we all marvel at these rapper’s skill. At the end of the day, Eminem is just plain better than everyone. What is a rapper’s profession? Rapping. Who does THAT better than Eminem? Nobody. I strongly think at the pit of people’s stomach, you cant stand that a white guy is probably the best that has ever done it. I guess I’m mostly talking about black guys, since I see a trend of the haters here arguing the same nonsense.
It’s like if the greatest hockey player ever was black…that probably would be a tough pill to swallow for the white community. Wish it wasn’t about race but it always is.

Cant wait to hear “the hood” responses disagree…that’s always refreshing. If you have two ears and listen to the same thing I listened too, who can disagree with Em being the best? How many MC’s does he have to murder on the same song? That being said, MBDTF was fantastic (shout out to Mook) and if you say that’s the best album of 2010 I can live with that.

  92. GUARE says:

this pussy got drake two and kayne one.. i have no problem wit kayne one.. cause i mean .. really .. forget hip hop .. thats number one album period.. in the last ten years.. i mean the shit is a master piece.. but u cant underappreciate what shady did with that project… that shit was rhymes goodlord..

  93. MorTality says:

Recovery was bad bad bad. And I know a lot of people and tweens just uncritically approach this album because it was a major hit on the billboard charts, and simply because of Eminem’s image. But trust me when I say this, Recovery is just not a good album…

  94. thats racist says:

what fucking world yall livin in? ross wants you to want him to be relevant.

    case closed. he is not.

half you knickers and britches in a bunch because you miss biggie.

you can still get roasted, he is not even in his harshest.

when he wins 5 grammys will you cry its the white people that voted? because if its “ross is hard in the streets’ argument all over again….

yeah he is hard in the streets, being a gigantic DICK. locking real hustlers up.

    fucking pig.

  95. @ mortality

ya..ok I trust you. You seem like a logical person, obviously Recovery was as bad as you say it is.

    /blank stare at computer screen.

  96. thats racist says:

its obvious by the single they picked ross will be number one.

and when that happens….jewish partner says

elliot, give me a call, cuz there is only so much i can explain

  97. thats racist says:

any you fucks listen to wrong syllable? cocaine? i need a doctor?

all yall missing out. shady is back better than ever and is not going to take these “lists” to heart.

    oh wait.

fuck you hip hop, my life sentance is served bitch and its …..too late for the other side!

25 to life ELLIOT, lose ya spot and move on JUST LIKE SHAHEEM

    mariah carey loving mutherfucker

  98. thats racist says:

sorry bdot you cool but slipping on the white boy props….but you used to work at the source so no hard feelings

    KODAK

    PICTURE DAT

  99. Belize says:

Bewildered fans with Relapse??? I beg your pardon?!!!! Relapse was dope, I don’t get all the hate. It was a necessary part of his career to refind his footing, you can’t expect him to release a super-dope album after he got sober after three years of immense hardship. Show some respect bruh. And pushed Lil Wayne? Don’t you mean showed the world how wack he is? Lemme guess. Telfon Don or Flopaveli or the DeAndre Way is gonna be #1 isn’t it?

  100. Toya says:

    Recovery’s #3? WTH! Who’s #2 and 3?

  101. nonfixion says:

    RR still got my respect
I don’t give a fuck about eminen, seriously i never listen any tracks on recovery or relapse
so i ‘m just happy because he is not #1 and the stans are upset

i livin in france and we don’t play eminem in clubs or radio stations except on MTV and others videos channels
I think is a good mc but for me he means shit

    VOILA, C’EST LA VIE

  102. PITRI says:

Lyrically this was the best album of 2010..

  103. sway-z says:

I don’t care what anybody says, to me, Relapse is a better album all the way around. Yeah he bugged out a lil wit the accents here and there, but the production overall was better, and there’s a couple flows on there that might be the best of his career, and that’s saying something. Stay Wide Awake, Underground & My Mom are some of the toughest joints in Em’s catalog.

  104. madrid says:

    this joke of the year
fake ass ross in same liste with eminem
    cop ross carrier < relapse
    Rap game = bullshit

  105. dudesrslyx3 says:

this is just fucking stupid. RECOVERY deserves to be number one. teflon don & kanye’s albums did not deserve the top 2 spots SMH #fail. Eminem FTW.

  106. NihilTimendumEst says:

Wow Really I Aint Like Em Since MMLP The Eminem Show Was Average Son…But This And The Roots LP Were My Favrouite Shit All Year!!
Im A Kanye Stan For REAL But Cannot Believe The Critical Acclaim It’s Getting Its A Amazing RnB Album..But It Ain’t HIP ‘mothercluckkin’ Hop

  107. bigjay2501 says:

the argument against Eminem will always be his lack of ability to connect with the streets. We know what his fan base consists of. I’m black, and i have this album (friend burned me a copy)….i dont even listen to the album to be honest. Outside of the singles, i probably couldnt name any stand out cuts. Props to him though on moving all the units he moved.

  108. mac DIESEL says:

SIR LUSCIOUS CRUSHES THIS ALBUM!!!! THIS ALBUM WAS SO WEAK!!!! IT’S RIDDLED WIT CHEESY CORNY POP RECORDS!!!! THIS IS EM’S WORST ALBUM!!!! GET BACK ON THAT HIP-HOP TRAIN EM!!!! ASAP!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  109. K.O. says:

I kinda liked this joint from Em!!

  110. jaybee32 says:

at the end of the day ever body knows eminem is the best. don’t deny it fags

  111. White_rappers311 says:

The truth is this should be #1 no questions asked no debate

  112. TheRealShifty says:

    @Mook

    1. Take away rick ross’s beats and he has nothing,

    2. Hiphop is universal now, and it could really do without you holding it back with those racial slurs.

    3. Who are you to judge someone for using the word “fantastic”? Just because its too big for you to understand or too civilized for your ‘ghetto-ness’ doesn’t make it “nerdy”. That immature statement alone shows this site how too immature mook is to participate in the comment section.

    Smh….DEAD

Everyone who likes syllabic rap and true wordplay and lyrical precision should know to listen to underground mostly like vinnie Paz cognito celph titled apathy styles of beyond army of the pharaohs demigods jigsaw every heard of any them? Prolly not cause u only listen to mainstream and all u hood hardcore niggas talkin bout in the streets just cause u grow up in a place people get killed raped and shot at more I mean that’s good? No it’s not music is heard all over the world and eminem has the most sales over the past eleven year in the world 85 mil only good mainstream is eminem game dre jay-z and that’s it, all these honka tonka flamer and cucci mane weezy f faggot fans fuckin prolly like Mac dre to and all those supposed rappers do is have hard beats and no lyrical experience or talent if u like lyrical music check out the artists I typed in the beginning

  114. nujerz says:

Em shit is in the right spot imo Rick Ross always been wack to me so where Im @ Ross aint relevant… I aint never heard bout Metacritic all I know the hiphop sites/mags that reviewed Recovery gave it its props.. But I noticed it was the rock/mainstream much critics that didnt for the most part..

  115. HOOD says:

Eminem made a classic with Recovery, it’s sad when u have a C.O. or a raged lunatic on top of the rap game when u got a guy who overcame all obstacles against him…. Em is and will be one of the best in the game

  116. Paul Rosenburg says:

    What? Elliot, you’re fired.

  117. p. dom says:

i don’t know. maybe i’m in the minority that thinks relapse is the better album overall. granted, em was rhymin’ his ass off on recovery, a lotta these beats were NOT dope. sorry stanleys. i’d rather have a 95% dr. dre produced album(as relapse was) than to hear him rockin’ on the fluff beats that made up the majority of recovery. and before i get attacked by the “eminem is god” d-heads, fuck you in advance!!! ha!!!

  118. Devil says:

“it’s not about lyrics anymore. It’s about a hot beat and a catchy hook.”

  119. dat bull says:

thank god this didnt get #1. fuck this album, and fuck the stans that swallow em’s nuts no matter what

  120. MHarstad says:

Woulda liked to see this higher..I still play it all the time

  121. YOUMAD! says:

LOL @YN this motherfucker is an idiot,i aint even no Em stan.

but Ross fake cop ass for number 2,let ross craft half ass good as Eminem lyrics, flows, multies, punches.

the fuck u guys listen too, kanye’s album was a good album, but it is not “rap” so u nikkaz suck.

  122. Idgaf says:

Why the hell are you comparing a street album with Recovery?
You are comparing two different type of artists. Stop comparing Teflon and Eminem.
And one more thing stop being racists too.

  123. Bryce Ayyy says:

    To be completely honest.

Damn near ALL of the songs on Ross’ album sounded the same. Not to much substance just banger shit. It’s not really much to speak of as a whole which is why in my opinion Eminem’s should be second. But of course people will want to throw in “B.M.F”, “Aston Martin Music”, “Free Mason”(Dope songs) but they basically carried his album.

M.C. Hammer sounded no different than B.M.F, on either one he was just talking shit. So was “Not a Star”. A majority of the songs on this album he wasn’t saying shit, just a banging beat, decent rhymes and a massive hook. No depth.

@Mook. Album sales matter, yes. Thank Me Later? A very mediocre album, regardless of how you put it. Instead of making shit with substance and following up with a good album that he bore his heart on, he basically just tried to make singles and had WAYYY too many features to carry his entire album for him. Think I’m bullshitting?

“Up All Night”, “Shut It Down”, “Fancy”, “Miss Me”, “Unforgettable” etc.

Dont’ get me wrong. Some were definitely cool but unforgettable he wasn’t talking about shit. The best thing about that song was the beat and the hook/Aaliyah sample, nothing else. Miss Me was just a “talk shit” song meant to shoot towards a single as well as everything else.

No substance other than Karaoke, Fireworks, and correct me if I’m wrong but does the “Resistance” not sound EXACTLY like “The Calm”. “Cece’s Interlude” a failed attempt at a follow up of “Bria’s Interlude”.

Overall the album was average at best.

  124. Soulja hurricane cris says:

    Eminem better then niggger rappers

  125. Reginald Pouncy says:

Da Recovery is dope. I dunno people may disagree wit me but it’s a dope album.

  126. jonny bizness says:

Seriously guys if Yn would have put recovery at no1 he would have no credibility left to me if he would done that it would be the equivilant to BENZINO givin MADE MEN 4 and a half mics.

  127. James says:

WOW RR GOT 2 RITE? IMPRESS! @MOOK BLANK N HA HA!!

  128. ColoradoKnight says:

IMO Relapse was a better album than Recovery. The accent was a bit much, but Em had some great records on there. “Same Song & Dance” “Bagpipes from Baghdad” “Hello” “Stay Wide Awake”. His wordplay/ lyricism was second to none on this album. I’m just not a fan of the “yelling/ singing” that he does. “Renegade” is a perfect example of Em in his top form, Articulate, lyrical, w/out the yelling and singing. I guess you could say that when Em does features, he’s more effective than his own albums, which only one of them I’ve purchased. IMO.

  132. Konner says:

Damn, I been reading this website and anothers for a while, but Ive had enough of the bullshit that gets said in comments. People saying bullshit that they take for facts to try and discredit artists. People saying only rich white people listen to eminem? thats bullshit, im white, im far from rich, and i listen to alot more hip hop than just eminem, @Mook? You obviously know shit, as you though Recovery was Relpase, and you claim No Pressure was Detoxs first single? Nigga a single is a finished song available to buy, Under Pressure was unfinished, unmixed, and it didnt even have a fuckin hook! Hip hops universal, it aint just ‘for the hoods’, its for everyone. This albums hot, few iffy songs and a bit too much singing of the hooks from Em. It should have been #2 to Kanyes masterpiece
