24 hours after the New Year, J.Cole traveled across the pond to join Drake on their UK tour. Today he stopped by DJ Semtex‘s show on BBC1Xtra. He speaks on his European experience and everything in between.

Seriously, it’s time for them to release his single and come out with a release date. I don’t know wtf the label is waiting for, he ain’t gonna get no hotter than he is now. People are taking about FNL, he has the single with Miquel, Keri Hilson, and Sean Garrett, now is the perfect time.

Drake did a year off of So Far Gone before getting to drop Thank Me Later and he got rushed to put out his debut due to the success of So Far Gone. Warm Up dropped June of 09 and So Far Gone dropped Feb of 09. Drake caught fire cause it was commercially backed by Weezy & Company. Jay has let Cole build on his own gradually while building his sound. Debuted him on BP3 took him on tour to get his feet under him performance wise and let him make some money. Not forcing the issue to try and put him out before he’s ready. As folks that actually scour the internet we want more because we come across more and digest it faster and are on to the next thing. By the time most of our mainstream friends get hold of it we are talking about how late they are. Cole is getting his mainstream game ready. All in due time. He’s more Nas than Jay or at minimum more Reasonable Doubt Jay than more commercial Jay. Drake traded in his more Little Brother influenced style from Room for Improvement for a more LL/mainstream commercial flow. It’s still good music but it’s not the same focus as his earlier stuff. Jay is letting Cole stay Cole. He just has to figure out how to make a song that fits his lane and can be played in the club in order to do numbers but I don’t see him doing that. Still more head nod rap than shake your butt rap and that is needed in the marketplace too.
