Can anybody give me a decent reason why it wouldnt be wrong for Drake to cover a song word for word, change the name, and then sell it to somebody else? Cuz Ive been trying to think of a way that thats not super-shady, and nothing comes to mind.

Drake has different levels of how thoroughly he “borrows” from other songs… I mean on this one he covered it completely and then changed the name, but then again on that “I’m Ready For You” track, he limited himself to just ripping off the hook, the bridge and the melody of “Heartbeat” by Nneka, but used different lyrics. Thats why I say he did this one word for word.
And why did he change he name of this particular song in the first place, if he was trying to give any credit at all? Im just curious… I cant really think of anybody else that does that… and I cant really think of any way at all that it could possibly pay tribute to the original artist, which, of course, is what a cover is supposed to do in the first place. In fact it seems an awful lot like Drake is trying to take credit for other peoples music, or at the absolute least he doesnt do much (anything) to give credit where its due,
And btw, the Drake version was supposedly a reference track. That means he “wrote” it for someone else.
jeremih, if the song does belong to you now, PLEASE give it BACK to drake cus this was terrible.
